So, I guess here is an analogy that I think holds. A person with a prosthetic limb is compared to a person who uses a medicine that aids procreation naturally... for example viagra. What I mean is that the nature of how procreation takes place does not change. A person who uses IVF or other such technologies is kind of like a scientist who, because he can't fix the legs, decides to give the person a treatment where he grows wings instead.
Maybe more like fixing him up with a motorized wheel chair. We don't naturally roll around by the aid of machines, but doing so can replace the lost functionality by which most people can walk. We don't naturally conceive children via in vitro processes, but doing so can replace the lost functionality that allows most people to conceive through more normal means.

I agree completely with Gandalf. But my opinion is no more important than that of MCG's opinion. He has a right to side with the opinion of the RCC, and I have the right to disagree with him, even though I can see where he is coming from.

I would like to ask if you guys believe that "the ends justify the means."

Not in the sense that if the means used to obtain some goal are evil that they would be excusable due to the end goal being good. But, if the means are not themselves evil, then they need no exusing. Considering means to be evil just because the ends for which they are used are often evil is confusing the matter.

I agree with Pouye, BTW, that both sides here have every right to hold the opinion they hold.

Sure, in the sense that I have no right to come to your house and force you, at knife point, to think like me. However, someone here is right and someone is wrong.

I was talking to my girlfriend last night about this discussion (she unfortunately lives about 3,000 miles away at the moment, but that is another thread), and I told her that I am not willing to give up here. I know some people think that continuing this discussion may be beating a dead horse... but I am convinced that it is not. I still have a lot to say about these issues. I am planning on writing a paper for you guys who disagree... probably around 10 to 15 pgs. I hate it when people make an argument by sending someone to another website. I think it does not respect the people with whom you are arguing: it is lazy. This paper will be especially for you guys, especially for Healing Oil, Gandalf, and Pouye... so I hope you guys read the paper. I probably won't be done with it until closer to Christmas break, but I am going to do some good research into this; it will be about both contraception and in vitro, and I am certainly going to tailor it based on the posts from this thread.

Until that time, I still have more points I want to make.

I have a question first: Do you think homosexuality is wrong for all people or just for Judeo-Christians? What is the basis for your answer?

homosexuality is a sin. all people are burdedened and enslaved by sin, and will stand guilty on judgement day of their sin, save for those that have been purchased by Christ's redeeming blood

And in the sense that you're free to express it, argue for it, etc. Obviously, both cannot be correct.

I feel I am well aware of your feelings and opinions. I know what you think of the matter, and you know what I think. I dont feel it needs to be drawn on for 15 more pages.
