http://www.thirdday.com/boards/showthread.php?t=77343&pa ge=17
Yeah...we realized that it was not...see-
Gone? It's still there, all 17 pages of it.
...*wince* Oh, oops. I did a search and could not find it...
I tried searching for it too, but couldn't find it either, until I went and looked in the Wired/Wireless thread itself and just went down the list until I found it. That's usually the only way I can find it anyway, I can never remember if it's "screen shots" or "screenshots", and always pick the wrong one. Now I'll be even more confused since it's got a space and the new thread doesn't. At least one way or the other, regardless of how you enter it, a search will bring one up.

Actually, I just changed mine too, first time in a while.
Sorry Mac, you just got replaced by a shot of the sunset over Chantilly VA that I got last night.
I actually got better pics of the sunset itself that'll probably replace this one shortly, once I do a little selective cropping, but I like the fact that this one works as is, plus it caught that plane coming in for a landing. (Not actually a hard thing to do, I guess, given that the motel was facing both the setting sun and the Dulles Airport. :p)

Don't change it! The one you have now - assuming my monitor is calibrated correctly - is such a lovely Gomer Orange! :D
But the skies over Chantilly were great last night, all sorts of different types of cloudage, swirly and poofy and thunderhead-y, then with the sun setting behind it, well, I just stood there at my motel window and took shot after shot, until the sun finally set behind the lowest cloudbank. Couldn't have asked for a better vantage point. :)

That is the Dock... It is a wonderful thing... Without sounding like a Mac Snob... It is so wonderful to see what programs you have running w/o having to hit ctrl alt del every time...
You can download something similar, called Object Doc for PC.. it doesn't quite have all the functionality but it is cool...

...You can download something similar, called Object Doc for PC.. it doesn't quite have all the functionality but it is cool...I actually tried Object Dock, and while it was kind of neat - it reminded me of the old Norton Desktop toolbars that I used to set up to run with the pre Win95 versions of Windows - it seemed to make my PC a bit sluggish, so I ended up turning it off. Probably should uninstall it one of these days, since I never use it anymore.

I used Object dock on my laptop and my PC... The strange thing is that it performed better on my laptop (celeron 1.6 w/ 256 megs of ram) than it did on my desktop (P-4 2.0 Gig W/ 512 megs of ram). Both systems were purchased 6 months apart... (with the laptop being the later one).

I don't have a third day wallpaper and they're not playing in the media player but the wallpaper is an acoustic guitar. I found it with google and added the lines in The Gimp, since I use Linux. I just use XP to use esword. Linux has one called GnomeSword but it's not as good as esword. The theme (window and widgets) is one I made.

This currently is mine. I know it seems lame, but I've got these group interviews when I go back to school to be a freshman hall leader, and apparently they're doing the same interviews as they did for the RAs. They had to do this activity that I did a year ago in Critical Thinking--this NASA survival exercise (http://www.bpccs.com/lcas/Articles/survive.htm).

I've tried running a few of those Linux Live CD/DVDs before. Neat to experiment with, but it would take a LOT of tweaking to get Linux to recognize all my peripherals (aaah thank you google toolbar spell check! Cool. Thanks.
While not a current shot it is what I am currently using. Mirage (http://gnomethemes.org/pre/Mirage-Compiz.jpg)
I made the window border theme.
This was my site (http://gnomethemes.org/) but I have recently turned it over to someone else, since I am no longer theming Linux/Gnome. So proceed with caution as to what may be put there in the future.
Here's one (http://gnomethemes.org/pre/Incise-full.jpg) where I made everything but the wallpaper.
Here's a dark theme I made in several colors (? 5 colors I think?). Green (http://gnomethemes.org/pre/screenshots/Onux-Green.png) and Purple (http://gnomethemes.org/pre/screenshots/Onux-Purple_Noir-Purple.png)
This one was fun to make; Scutum (http://gnomethemes.org/pre/Scutum.jpg). It's just a preview....wonder where my screenie with the galaxy wallpaper went? hmmm...
All are here (http://gnomethemes.org/pre/) and here (http://gnomethemes.org/pre/screenshots/)
I didn't make this theme, but I manipulated the wallpaper from a photo of a book cover. Good and Evil (http://gnomethemes.org/pre/screenshots/Good-and-Evil.png)
Here's a shot of what my desktop sometimes looks like when I'm doing my charting from home.

Note the nice tidy desktop. Discovered a nifty new toolbar/launcher thing that I like much better than ObjectDock. It's called 8Start Launcher. Doesn't seem to slow down my system at all, stays hidden and doesn't clutter up the desktop until I need it, and yay, it's freeware. Plus it's got several different skins, so as I change my desktop, I can make sure I change the launcher to match. I think this one may be a keeper.

Here's the latest on the office PC. It used to be an icon filled plain blue purely functional destop, but I found a great freebie program to organize most of the icons that only comes up when I need it, so I was finally able to stick a picture on here earlier this week.

But it's been rising too late the last two winters. I don't mind standing outside at 8 or 9 pm in the middle of winter when it's 40 degrees to catch some good pics, but I draw the line at doing it at 3 in the morning. *brrrr*

But the actual betta is on the left facing away from me (hence why you can see right into the side of his head, behind his gills), and that's the reflection of his "look at how puffed up I can be!" face on the aquarium wall there on the right. My, Grandma, look what big EYES you have!

On your keyboard, hit the button that says Print Screen. Then open up a graphics program (ex: Microsoft Paint) and hit CTRL+V. Then your screen as it appeared when you pressed the Print Screen key will appear. Then save it.
This is for Windows...I have no idea how to do it on a Mac.

New screenshot from the home PC!
Had a huge storm come through tonight, lots of rain, wind, thunder, lightning, and didn't lose power once. The storm passed, the sun came out, and suddenly out of the blue, after we thought we were in the clear, a couple of powerlines suddenly fell, and several transformers went kablooie, and suddenly the power went out for the next four hours. Kiss that A/C goodbye. Ick.
Time to bring out the candles (no shortage of candles of all shapes and sizes in OUR house!) and the board games!
Parcheesi anyone? :D

Thanks Wendy.
Yep, I did go with the marble, it came together nicer than the lightning one. With that, I was just kind of messing around with different things and put the lightning up and thought, hey, this might look cool for a background, so I tried it and it just didn't quite come together right.

I had that one up at one point too, the version with their desktop clock, but it drove me nuts because it said AM when it was PM, even though my computer's clock was correct, so I ditched it.
Oh well, both kitties are gone now, I finally got a decent shot of my new betta fish that I picked up on Friday, so put that one up instead for a few days.
It would have been the PERFECT shot, he was right up at the front of the tank and was actually in focus, except that I shot too high and picked up the shadow of the tank lid. But it'll work for now.
The other guy trying to sneak his way into the shot is one of the two lamp eye tetras that survived being overheated when the thermostat on the old heater went kablooie. They've seemed a little slow ever since, maybe their little fishie brains couldn't handle it, but at least they survived.

New wallpaper here at the office!
Someone named "Duck" (at least that's what the card said; Doug blew a gasket when I called him at lunchtime to tell him, LOL) sent me 23 roses for Valentine's Day this morning. I thought this quick PDA snapshot made for very cool wallpaper.

Doug still can't figure how they got his name wrong, he's on file at that florist from the flowers he sent LAST year, and they STILL managed to think that when he said "Love, Doug" for the card that he said "Love, Duck" instead. LOL :D
That's okay, we're batting a thousand this valentines day anyway, I sent him an American Greetings animated e-card that I did up special for him last night, and because it was an EXE file, he couldn't open it there at the office. :( I'm going to have to play it back on my pc, record it with the Nikon, load it onto my PDA and take it with me to Greensboro on Saturday so he can actually SEE the thing.

Cool, Chris. I like that. :D Did you photoshop it or is there actually an intersection with those two streets?
I finally broke down and changed mine. This is actually a pic that Yippy shot at the show she went to, Mac is in there someplace (it took me a week before I could actually make him out), but it took what I thought was a very artistic turn. I just flipped it and upped the saturation a bit to bring out the color, and thought "Yeah, this makes LOVELY wallpaper." I've been using it ever since. It's kind of "Consuming Fire"y.
Really have GOT to clean off the desktop though, the icons are starting to stack up again. :o Where IS that Clutter Fairy when I need her? :p
boy thats icon city LOL. You do reakize that the more icons you have the slower the PC runs right? Not exclusivly and maybe not by much but it does bog it down a little bit

Haven't had a new screenshot since October? Must fix that.
Here's my latest on the office PC. This was from back in November, and the weather was threatening to be really stormy, and the colors and the intensity of the clouds at sunset were just mindblowing. It's not GREAT, I shot it with my PDA, so the camera doesn't do the colors justice, but when it's the only camera on you at the time, you take what you can get. :)
What's funny, is that I forgot I even shot this until a few days ago, hence why it didn't show up until now. :o

Hit your print screen key, paste it into a graphics program like Paint or IrfanView (my particular favorite), resize it down to 640x480 (or 800x600, if you can get the resolution down far enough so that it fits within board guidelines), then just upload it. :)
I've got a scene from Wall-e as my XP wallpaper, but since I booted into Windows 7, I'll have to screencap that one instead. I'm still using the default Win7 wallpaper. It's a betta fish, which I thought was very clever of Microsoft, since this IS their Beta version of Win7. :P And it apparently IS the only betta fish still alive in my room, since it would appear that MY betta fish keeled over suddenly, I've not seen him swimming for a day or so, so I'll probably be having to fish him out (no pun intended) tomorrow. :(
