When did you receive them? I received two last week, reported them to Corrine, and the person has now been banned and I haven't received another one since. If you've gotten them in the last couple of days, report them to a mod, someone else might have set up a new account.

I've yet to receive a pm but I notice all the time that new 'members' are not what they seem to be. I wish there was a better way of security.

There used to be many 'viagra' type people coming on when most of you are asleep in the USA, but they need to post a few times before their posts become visible.

That it is. Considering what it USED to be like before they started monitoring the first posts of new boardies, I will not complain if an occasional spam PM gets through. This person did everything right, posted about 7 legitimate posts (although the last one I read definitely seemed a bit iffy), and THEN just grabbed about 5 or 6 boardie names at once and spammed them. They were banned after the second pm. And this has been the one and only time that I've ever gotten a spam PM like that here.

Compared to what I see on lots of other forums, spam monitoring here IS very good indeed. http://www.thirdday.com/boards/images/icons/icon14.gif Thanks, mods. :)

SPAM is a fact of life. I've been on this board for years and have 1,000+ posts, but tomorrow I could go crazy and start spamming every user. There isn't really a way to completely stop spammers from doing what they do on this forum, especially if they are human spammers.

Same here, only just one, I reported it to Brian, same result, nothing since.
I think that's a pretty good track record for as long as I've been a 3D boardmember.

Well, they did. But that doesn't mean it'll keep others from attempting it as well. The methods of spamming folks keeps evolving and the numbers of spammers is continually increasing. You should be expecting this... I guess since I'm an IT professional, I'm just used to it by now.

They didn't send it to you because you were single, they sent it to you because you were a screen name on the boards. The same way that they sent both the beautiful girls dating site AND the one one about Russian women, to ME, who yes, is single, but is *cough cough* female. :P

Just a bunch of screen names from the boards; they probably had a quota to fill for the month or something.

Yep, this lady got two, actually, grouped with a few random boardies. I think the mods did exactly what they should have done in a quick manner. Actually, I'm quite tired of spam being mostly for guys. If I've got to read it, it could at least be applicable to me, right?;)

If that is the first spam you all have seen since you've joined, then we've done our job well! You all have no idea the mountains of spam, and some of it is nasty, nasty stuff, that we delete weekly...daily!

Unfortunately, in order to keep you from getting spam through PMs, we have to have a board update. So until we get one from the powers that be, please continue to report any that you do get, so we can take care of the offenders pronto!
