Apparently Harry Reid Democrat from Nevada and Senate Majority Leader referred to Barrack Obama, during last years Presidential Race as "Light skinned" and with "no negro dialect."
What should happen to Reid

Because he's a Democrat, nothing will happen (nor should it)
If a Republican had said it, the offender would be forever relegated in the hearts of the press with the likes of Mel Gibson.

"What should happen to Reid?"
What should happen or what will happen?
What will happen is this guy will be voted out of office in November. I guess that is also what should happen.

Yeah, but not because of the negro comment. The fact is that the African American community should not be inconsistent and say that it's wrong for some people to use antiquated terms and OK for others (United Negro College Fund, NAACP, etc.)
I don't know if he will get voted out, though. He's powerful and can get things for his home state, and that's who votes for him is his state's voters.

Isn't the word "negro" on the 2010 census? Another epic fail from the dem controlled congress.

It is on there, but I don't think Congress decides stuff like that.

Agreed, fair or not, he apologized and President Obama accepted his apology.
Enough said, lets move on.

I understand that Congress is in charge of the census documents. They would have to approve taking "negro" off the form.

Possibly, but that's not the same as saying that the presence of that term on the form is another Democrat screw-up. I'm sure it's a bureaucrat who decided to put that on there, and could very well have happened under a Republican congress or a Democrat one. I doubt that a single congress person was aware of what terms are being used on that form until it became a news story last week.

Congress approves the form. Congress now and at the time the form was approved (by congress) is controlled by the libbys.
Lets not move on! We did not "just move on" after Trent Lott, George Allan, Rush Limbaugh, or any of the other conservatives that have "mispoken".
I can't wait for 2010! Reid will be "Daschaled"..... PREDICTION= Reid will retire and not seek another term as to not be defeated in the election.

Suit yourself. I resigned myself long ago to the fact that the press is going to treat Rs an Ds differently when it comes to stuff like this. I can only get worked up over a finite number of things, and I'm much more bothered by Reid's legislative agenda than his use of the word negro. But that's just me.

If Reid were forced to step down from Majority Leader it would hamper his ability to push his reckless and unConstitutional agenda.

So is what you're saying that Reid should be forced to step down, not because of right or wrong or as a consequence to his actions, but rather to advance someone else's agenda...

No... I am saying that Reid's agenda in unConstitutional and he has provided the means by which to stop him. His actions were horrible and based on that racist comment he should step down it's just that it serves the greater good of the country.
When a tenured teacher stops teaching and becomes lousy and the students begin to derive no benefit from his class one might say "Let's get rid of him." Because the teacher is tenured you cannot easily do so. If, however the teacher provides the sword by which he may be severed from the school by... let's say having an affair with a pupil then the teacher must go based on that alone but it did serve the greater good of the students and the school for him to go. Two birds with one stone as they say.
If Reid were a man of honor he'd step down on his own.

Man of Honor in Washington politics? That's asking a lot. But let's see what other notable Washington polititian has stepped down...Richard Nixon, man of honor? Actually by most accounts a good President but I don't think it was honor that prompted his resignation.

I don't think his comments and use of the barely offensive word "negro" warrant a call to step down. His politics, yes, but not these statements. People are waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too sensitive if that bothers them that much.

Trent Lott Newt Gingrich men who fail morally should have the honor to step down. One would observe that if one was a man of honor such moral failings would not have taken place but all are human and stumble. It is the response to the moral failing that matters. Reid is a racist. I wish someone would ask him what the "Negro dialect" is.

Okay, I grant you Trent Lott but I draw the line at Newt Gingrich. He stepped down only after numerous charges of ethics violations and unprecedented sanctions were levied against him, and then only after a coup by follow republicans and pressure from republican party leadership following the disaterous mid-term elections that followed. That's my point. In the end it was his own party and the voters that decided the issue. So should it be with Reid.

What Newt did (cheating on his wife and serving her divorce papers while she was int he hospital dealing with cancer, all at the same time he's denouncing Clinton for the Lewinski thing) was much worse than what Reid did. Much, much worse.

I will not engage in the ranking of sins and failures I will only posit that such failings demand resignation.

The ranking matters when you are deciding if something is worthy of requiring a resignation. I do not believe that use of the word negro is even close.

Then sir, that is where we differ.
