... too early to be listening to Christmas music???
Christmas stuff is foisted upon us way to early, and it gets earlier every year.
It's usually perpetuated by those who want to make a buck somehow.
Having said that, if you want to listen to it in the privacy of your own earphones, nobody can tell you it's too early.

I was actually charging up my I-Pod, and decided to listen to music on my -I-Tunes. And I came across my Christmas Offerings on I-Tunes, & started listening to it. =)

My answer: NEVAH!!! I keep some Christmas carols on my shuffle at all times. Willing and able to celebrate Christ's birth at all times.

Nope, I'd say listen to it whenever you want to. :)
Traditionally, either the day after Thanksgiving - or if I don't have that Friday off, Saturday - we go to the tree lot outside the hardware store, find the biggest tree that fits our budget (avoiding ones that are too heavy for the two of us to carry, or that have unplanned extras in them, like bats, or birds nests, or beetle infestations  ), shove it into the back of the Prius, haul it home and set it up in the living room.
Usually the Christmas music makes its first appearance once we start decorating it, which is normally at some point that weekend. Usually after we give the cats a day or so to realize that "there's nothing to see here!" :P
Once we start playing it, it pretty much plays through Christmas day.

Good point. Since He wasn't born Dec 25th anyways.
Your point is invalid if you are playing crap like Winter Wonderland, though.

Nah. Mentioning that I am not mentioning it is not the same as mentioning it.

Although for me, regardless of when we actually start playing the Christmas tunes, it's not officially the "Christmas season" yet, until we actually play Andy Williams and the Williams Brothers "It's the Holiday Season". :D That was one of my dad's favorites, and it just never seemed to be Christmas yet until he pulled out that particular LP (if you young'uns don't know what that is, look it up! lol).
That one and the music from Charlie Brown Christmas. :)

One persons crap is another persons ...... nevermind.
While I do enjoy a good rendition of Winter Wonderland ..... it's not a Winter Wonderland all year. For your peace of mind, it is Christ's birth I enjoy listening to and singing of all year round.

What I meant is that some Christmas songs really are about Jesus' birth, and some are not. Winter Wonderland falls into the latter category.

Like Tree I also do not partake in the pagan holiday Christmass (if you know my disdain for Roman Catholicism then you would understand my reference:D ;) we may do it for completely different reason though.
With that being said the Third Day Christmass album sounds good.

I knew what you meant.
And as I was thinking more about Christmas time songs I realize I have to back pedal ...... I love listening to the music of The Nutcracker and could listen to that year round also. I just don't happen to have it.

For the record, I do participate somewhat, because my wife and kids don't share my convictions. I don't enjoy Christmas a lot, especially the music, but I don't force my family to miss out.

Not sure I'll put up a tree this year. New kitten in the house.
But kittens make such lovely additions to the tree decorations when they climb up the trunk and peek out through the branches. :D
Ophelia did that one year, back at the house in CA. Came home from work, looked at the tree as I was coming in the door, and was startled to see these EYES looking out at me from about 3/4 of the way up the tree. She was a dark grey kitty, so you didn't see much more than the eyes looking through the branches.
She seemed pretty proud of herself that time. Never did it again though. And she's been the only one who ever did it. Everyone else just seems to settle for hacking up a hairball on the tree skirt every couple of year. :P

It was to my GREAT delight that I opened the church bulletin this morning and saw that all of our songs to sing were Christmas carols.
Loved it.

Watched Xmas Offerings.
The boy got Family Force 5 "The Chrismas Pageant" and I've put it on the iPod.
Pulled out WoW Xmas and Very Special Christmas on Xmas Eve. U2 has a song on their and then I see they put out another song last year for Project Red.
Steven Curtis Chapman had a Hallmark store cd a couple of years ago and listened to it.
My pile is huge: swing, Mannheim, etc.

Just popped the Christmas mp3 disc out of the car player this morning. Had to bring the car in to replace its broken bumper (oops :o ), and didn't want to force the shop guys into listening to Christmas tunes while they're tinkering with the car. Although they might have appreciated "Have Yourself An Ozzy Little Christmas" and/or the Mr. Hankey's South Park Christmas CD :P
I'm still wearing my Christmas socks though! Not putting those away until after New Years, not gonna do it, can't make me. :D

If I truly believed it was a pagan holiday, I'm not sure I could allow my family to celebrate it in our home. Because if it's really pagan, then it's not one of those gray areas where each person can decide for themself if they feel convicted or not. It's just plain evil.
You could do what we do, and just make a stand that in your home Christmas is going to be a celebration of Jesus Christ, specifically His miraculous birth, and a time of thanksgiving to God for sending the Savior, regardless of what the rest of the world does or doesn't do on that day. You would probably enjoy it a lot more if you did. What's not to enjoy about celebrating Jesus?
