Not sure how this is commemorated in the States but over here it is a big thing.

Tomorrow on 11/11 at 11:11am two minutes silence will be observed to remember those who have died in the line of duty in two World Wars and other conflicts. This is the date and time when the guns stopped to mark the end of WW1.

Tomorrow remember those who have fallen.

They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old,
Age shall not weary them, or the years condemn,
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning,
We will remember them!

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Amen!
Lord, thank You for our brave soldiers who have defended the principle that freedom is not a priviledge but a God-given right, and worth fighting for here and abroad over the years.

It is a holiday here, called Veteran's Day, but certainly not celebrated like it should be. Mostly, it's remembered as a day that some people are off work, (not me, though, and I'm a veteran!), and the banks are closed and you don't get any mail.

Sad.

But the good news is... we have a day in America where we honor those like yourself who have committed themselves to fight for our country. Thanks for your service James.

PS... have you ever talked to your employer about getting Veteran's Day off?

I have difficulty accepting statements like this because I was never in danger (served 1984-87), but thanks.

Nah, but it's OK.

Whether you were in active battlefielf engagement or a photographer, doesn't matter to me.. you still served our country.
