I like to think of it in reverse. Think for a moment... let's pretend like Bush really won the election (I mean, really)...
If Bush had done what Obama has espoused, the world would be a better place today, AND we would have never invaded Iraq.

Depends on what your definition of "better" is I suppose. I don't want to live in a socialistic society. But hey, different strokes for different folks.

Unrelated to my original post. This isn't about criticizing Bush or Obama. It's about how the press picks and chooses which stories they're going to blow out of proportion.

Agreed. I think it happens moreso today by more media outlets...and it happens on both sides.. conservative networks like Fox News and liberal outlets like CNBC.

[QUOTE]
Are you still bitter about that?
Bush Won.... In every recount considered by the court, Bush won. The only way Gore would won, was a statewide recount of over and undervotes which because there was no way each vote would have been decided by the same set of standards (as required under the equal protection clause) could not have been done.

Back on track... This double standard is pretty blatant. It's on both sides however. Obama is doing things that Bush did, that the Republicans are criticizing, and Bush did some things that the Democrats criticized while not concerned with it when Obama does them.
“There may well be almost an unconscious effort on the part of the media to give Obama a bit more slack because he is more likable, because he is the first African-American president. That plays into it,”
Unconscious??

There is definately a double standard going on here
I have a friends who are supporters of the Dalai Lama and against China, and its abominable record for human rihts, and yet they see Obama as a breath of fresh air in the world - no criticism of Obama for refusing to meet The Dalai Lama.
Obama President of the US and Tony Bliar, the ex-prme minister of the UK, hoping to become President of the EU, a common currency for the North Amerian continent and 9if news reports this week are corect) a common currency for South East Asia. No hope for the world unless you are looking forward to the NWO.

In all honestly, globalization is common sense in terms of world business. It's a natural step that will be taken at some point. We see it as a bad thing, because it's unconstitutional for one, and the majority of apocalyptic interpretations see it as the opening gate to the final prophecies. But prophecy or no, constitution or no constitution, it's a natural step to take in this state of the world. I wouldn't suprise if this happens soon, but it'll make me shiver to the bone the moment I hear the news.

i am all for a New World Order - the world we have at the moment is not ery ordered at all.
My concerns are that the NWO that is coming is not going to be any better for the common people than the one we have now.
My suspicion is we are going to have Corporate Fuedalism, not a better world in my view.
A new world order of peace and prosperity for all would be great, but the powers that be do not want this, in my opinion.
The NWO that Evanescence is concerned about appears to be the one we are going to get the bankers are concerned about profits for themselves and their friends.
Peace and prosperity for all - not just for those that think they are our betters.
