View Full Version : Miss California Sued over Implant Surgery

Miss California USA officials want Carrie Prejean to repay $5,200 they say she borrowed to have her breasts augmented last year.
Carrie Prejean has been immersed in controversy since her response at the Miss USA pageant in April.
The demand was a response to a lawsuit filed by Prejean in which she claimed pageant officials violated the former beauty queen's privacy by acknowledging to reporters that her breasts were fake.
The truth about Prejean's breasts "ceased being private during the swimsuit competition of the nationally televised Miss USA pageant, in which Ms. Prejean walked the stage in a bikini," pageant lawyers said.
Prejean's lawyer said the pageant filing was part of an "ongoing smear campaign" against her.
"They have proven, once again, that they will use whatever scurrilous accusations they can dredge up -- or invent -- to try and tarnish Carrie's reputation and her good name," Charles LiMandri said.
State pageant officials say they loaned the money for the surgery under an oral agreement with Prejean -- whom they dethroned as Miss California USA in June -- and she never repaid them.
The group also asked a judge to give them any profits from Prejean's tell-all book due out next month, which they claim was written in violation of her pageant contract.
"Our claim is not about financial reward, and all profits awarded will be donated to a charity that promotes the values of our organization," Miss California USA Executive Director Keith Lewis said.
The pageant's demands were made in a cross-complaint filed in response to Prejean's lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court in August, in which she claims that her firing was religious discrimination because of her stand against same-sex marriage.
Prejean, 22, stepped into controversy at the Miss USA pageant in April when, in response to a question from a judge, she declared her opposition to same-sex marriage. Prejean finished as first runner-up.
"We will make the case that her title was taken from her solely because of her support of traditional marriage," LiMandri said in August.
The pageant's counter-complaint said Prejean's belligerent behavior, lack of cooperation and contract breaches caused her firing, not her opposition to same-sex marriage.
"Ethically and morally, Carrie Prejean no longer deserved to be Miss California USA," the pageant filing said.
"She attempts to cast herself as a virtuous young woman and the victim in a supposed conspiracy against her," the pageant suit said. "Had she heeded the guidance of the Gospel of John, who admonished only those who are without sin to cast stones in judgment, she might have avoided this legal battle -- which will ultimately reveal the hypocrisy of Carrie Prejean."
Prejean's suit claims that her medical privacy was violated this year when pageant officials, including Lewis, publicly acknowledged that she had breast implants and the pageant financed the surgery.
"It is far-fetched for the plaintiff to assert a claim for public disclosure of private facts about her breast augmentation surgery, after she paraded on national television in a bikini for the very purpose of showing her figure as enhanced by that surgery, the disclosure of which can hardly be offensive given plaintiff's admission that such surgeries are common for beauty pageant contestants," pageant lawyers argued in their response filed this week.
The pageant court filings said Prejean "became completely belligerent and uncooperative with the Miss California USA organization after she won the state title."
"Ms. Prejean made it clear that she had a different agenda in mind," the pageant filing said. "She refused to follow instructions. She initiated arguments and sowed discord over the most minor issues. At almost every opportunity, she made a point of creating conflict between herself and the Miss California USA executive directors."
One thing they all agreed on was that Prejean needed bigger breasts if she was to be competitive in the national pageant in April, the filing said.
"Ms. Prejean disclosed that she had been thinking about and wanting to have breast augmentation surgery for some time, but did not have the money to pay for it," the filing said. "She felt that if she had the surgery, in her opinion, she would be more competitive for the Miss USA pageant."
After pageant officials agreed to loan her the money, Prejean underwent breast augmentation in January, the pageant filing said.
The court documents offer an inside look at the hostile relationship between Prejean, California pageant officials and Miss USA pageant owner Donald Trump.
After the Miss USA pageant, "With her new-found notoriety, an inflated sense of self, and the lure of financial gain available to her, Ms. Prejean turned even further against the Miss California USA organization, abandoned her obligations as the Miss California USA titleholder, and violated multiple provisions of the contract which governed her reign," the pageant filing said.
It suggested that Prejean, described as "previously a fairly anonymous young woman," filed her lawsuit "to extend her notoriety."

How about the real tragedy is we have a contest which objectifies women and puts so much pressure on them to have perfect bodies that they alter themselves to fit this mold in order to have a chance to win.
I blame the Miss USA pageant. And not the young woman who is still in the news because she gave an unpopular answer to a gay man asking it.

I don't think the Miss America pageant is to blame. The Miss California pageant loaned her the money for the surgery. I think in general, these pageants send the wrong message to young women.

If she was under 18 I would forbid her, if she was over 18, and paying for them herself, its her discision.... I don't think it would be needed.. but its ultimatly her choise.
But if your indifferent on them, what does this thread have to do with the cost in tea in china?
If she's a bad influence its because she renigged on her loan, not because she had a boob job....

I guess it's the gayz fault she posed nude too. And that she broke her promises to the Miss California pageant, and that she failed to repay a loan. Does this woman take responsibility for any of her actions? She put herself int he spotlight for entering the Miss America pageant.
As I said in a previous thread, she was entitled to her opinion, and I'm certainly not a fan of Perez Hilton in any way. But most people who don't do their job, lose it. And she lost hers. I think her getting this media attention has helped her more than hurt her. And I don't think she's an innocent bystander in the media hype that surrounds her.

Why does it send a wrong message? How does a boobjob differ from braces? How does it differ from a nose job? or reconstructive plastic surgery after an accident?
I would prefer for her to find herself attractive without making major alterations.. but if she couldn't then so be it.

I think it sends the wrong message because the age group which these kind of things (pagents) revolve around are quite impressionable - once upon a time it was about natural beauty, now it seems the message is if you are not a certain size, shape, etc, then you cannot be considered beautiful.
It is quite a serious matter and shouldn't be dismissed lightly. Spend some time with a bunch of teen girls and you'll realise that self esteem is a big deal now adays and girls are being pulled and pushed and pressured from many directions these days.

I actually spend lots of time around teenage girls... I am a volunteer Youth Pastor... The world tells them all sorts of things about where to find their value. This is nothing different. If it isn't Prejean getting her boobs done, its Brittany Spears going off the wall and shaving off her hair, or its Tween Magazine... The serious problem that shouldn't be dismissed lightly isn't because some contestant in a beauty show got a breast enhancement... The serious problem that shouldn't be dismissed, is where teenage girls run to for value and identity. There will always be pop culture telling teens (and adults) that they are not good enough or smart enough. That is where the gospel comes into play. We should be getting teenagers to find their value and worth not in their looks, or their friends, but in their creator.
Prejean in the case of this thread, is simply a way for some posters to rub other posters over the fact that last year this girl was a poster child for conservative values and now we find out she had a boob job...
I am far more concerned about the lack of character displayed by her, for failing to live up to her contractual obligations and her failing to repay loans, than I am about her having implants.

MEN...are to blame...because they cant see the true inner beauty of Gods greatest creation. Woman.
Therefore, the woman...gentically programmed to serve man, tries desperately to look and be the perfect woman...
Men...as fathers need to teach girls about inner beauty, loving themselves and their bodies for what they are...and work at being a better person...not sex symbol.
I am not against jewlery or makeup or even implants....but they're not important....not a factor in the real world...

Yes Ev is right, that is ideally how it should be, unfortunately there is alot of irresponsible parenting going on in our world today and alot of the stuff that should be happening in homes, just doesn't anymore.
I had a 10 year old girl tell me all of the movies she watches with her parents (only child from a stable married parents homelife), Wolf Creek is one example - very, very bad stuff for a 10 year old in my opinion, but society continues to change for the worse in many ways and what was once definitely not acceptable, now is. The boundaries are gettiing blurrier each and every day.

The reason this thread exists is because Jesuslove has a bone to pick with Miss Cali. It is like all of the Obama threads you see in Republican forums, with threads on his wife, kids, dog, toothpaste choice, etc.
This is called digging up dirt and gossip. Attack the person's character who said something a certain group doesn't like. Paint them ugly so what they say doesn't hold any weight or matter any more to the public. If you can paint them ugly, their word means nothing. Assasinate the character of the one who said something, and their words (no matter how right or true they might be) can be scoffed at and ridiculed.
When someone has a public opinion, and that opinion is not appreciated by a certain group, then the easiest way to combat that opinion is to ridicule the person and find enough dirt on the person to discredit their character. Paint the person as a boob, and their opinion becomes boobified. This thread is about painting a woman's character, making her out to be, well, a boob. If that is what people see her as, her opinions will not matter any more. If she is well-respected, her opinion still might mean something to some people.
Opinions are tied to the person. If a respectable person has a certain opinion, then that person's opinion may hold some weight. If the village idiot has an opinion, then nobody cares about it (even if it is actually true).
This reminds me of when a political party puts forth a new candidate. The first thing the opposing party does is hire investigators who have the job of digging up as much dirt as they can on the person. Call their elementary school, their high school, their teachers, their former bosses, etc. Dig like crazy to find things that are not kosher. Find out if they have ever been busted for a crime, a speeding ticket, a parking ticket -- heck, anything! Find out if they have ever been charged with doing anything illegal (even if they were acquitted). Do background checks. Do personality checks. Talk to family and friends....

That is why it is a headline on CNN, which proves my point. I don't see any headlines on other beauty pageant gals on such issues. But using her as the springboard for such a discussion is like using Obama for a springboard for talking about Muslim radicals.

Well it now appears as if the lawsuits has been dropped. The Miss California Pageant pulled the trump card on the self-proclaimed Princess of the Conservative Movement.
A legal standoff between Carrie Prejean and Miss California USA officials reportedly ended when a Pageant lawyer played his trump card: a sex tape far more hard-core than the nude pictures which had previously scandalized her – and in which she had the starring role.
After being shown the hardcore home video - in which she apparently engages in a solo sex act - Prejean dropped her million-dollar-plus demands, TMZ.com reports, and bolted from the negotiating table.

I'm sure Jesus loves your personal attacks.
And you still haven't answered my question.

TMZ a mainstream news source?!!?!? Do you believe the Enquirer when they say Aliens have landed?!?!?! How about Batboy?
It wasn't a personal attack... I am calling you out on your behavior...
Its unsubstantiated rumor, especially since it appears both signed a confidentiality agreement. It appears that you are spreading Rumors... That is called Gossip...
Unless you have concrete proof that she was in a sex vid... you are gossiping about a fellow Believer... For shame on you sir!

The story came from the NY Post. Search it. Furthermore, if this were untrue, Ms. Prejean would have a huge lawsuit on her hands. Gossip comes at a price these days.

Sir
Even if it is true Ms. Prejean would have a huge lawsuit on her hands, as it appears that someone violated the confidentiality agreement...
But regardless, there is no way for you to prove it, so then it is idle gossip? Right? If your Gossiping about someone, just come out and say so....

LMBO!!! This story only gets better! I can almost..... almost understand that someone could make a mistake and do what one may consider an "innocent porn movie" one time..... but come on Cheewiee... you can't really believe that Ms. Prejean made this mistake 8 times, can you?
This story is far from a rumor, and will be a nightmare upon release of one of the videos. My question is this.... why did Ms. Prejean try out for Ms. California knowing full well she had so much baggage? If she had won Miss USA, she had to know her porn career would surface. And yes, when you do 8 porn movies, that's a career, not a mistake.
I think the conservative movement acted too hastily when they chose Ms. Prejean as their poster child.

It's no longer gossip. Ms. Prejean chose to put herself out there when she joined the competition, and she chose to play the victim role after she made her statement. What's the old saying..... those in glass houses.....
Funny, you weren't coming to Obama's defense when the "birther" lies were going on... all gossip. Oh, and in case you forgot, God hates porn!
Come on.... 8 movies??? Gheesh!

And your comments fit #3 totally. So? Ms. Prejean never sought my advice prior to runnning for Ms. California. Had she, I would have encouraged her to be completely honest about her shady past. After all, honesty is the best policy.
And how is discussion about Ms. Prejean's sins any different from discussion about Mr. Hasan's sins? After all, sin is sin, right?

I don't. But you judging everyone and questioning their Christianity gets old after a while, so I am merely reminding you that none of us, including yourself are perfect. So remove the log from your eye, before worrying about the speck in your brother's.

If you aren't perfect then the words "The "fact" that you call yourself a Christian yet are so insulting shocks me....almost....." should not come from your mouth.
You are basically questioning his salvation on the mere fact that he is insulting you. Christians can and do often sin. So there is no reason to assume he's a false convert just because he insulted you. I've seen you be quite insulting yourself, which is why I said what I said.
Jesus was perfect, and yet He did not judge others as you are.

JL, to me it's quite obviously gossip. It doesn't matter if it's true or not. That part of her life was something she obviously wanted to keep secret and private (to the extent of not being known to the general public). Instead of tearing her down by spreading the "news" of her secret tapes and sinful life, don't you think it would be more beneficial to keep it to yourself and possibly pray for this poor soul? It's not any less gossip if it's a personal matter that gets thrown into the public spotlight and people chat about it, spread it, and tear her down. And considering that there was an agreement of confidentiality, she wanted to keep it personal and private.
Proverbs 11:
9 "With his mouth the godless destroys his neighbor,
but through knowledge the righteous escape."
12 "A man who lacks judgment derides his neighbor,
but a man of understanding holds his tongue."
13 "A gossip betrays a confidence,
but a trustworthy man keeps a secret."
And for Miss Prejean:
22 "Like a gold ring in a pig's snout
is a beautiful woman who shows no discretion."
I think the real reason anyone is still discussing this is so that the could say boobs and breasts on a Christian forum and not get banned ;) Pouye hid it very well.
