Has anyone ever read "Wild At Heart: Discovering the secret of a man's soul" by John Eldredge? I am reading it right now. A parishioner of mine asked me if I could order it for the church library. I said sure and said I could order two copies and said I could read it with him.
I was not sure what I would think of it, but I have to say it is an amazing book. It explores why men in our culture have become so emasculated and suggests what men can do to "get their heart back." It seemed kind of touchy-feely to me, but it is just the opposite.
It's not a hard read but it could be painful because the author digs pretty deep. It is a Christian book, and much of what the author writes is rooted in Genesis 2. Good stuff. I reccomend it!!

If you can afford it and if you can find it you can get a set of dvds to go with the book that are excellent. My church did the book and dvds back in 2005 and it was awesome.
His series EPIC is excellent too.

Wild at Heart initiated a change in me and its fruit is still being yielded in my life and in my interactions with others.
Note that you will find lots of critics of the book. Every one I have read has either focused on something that is very minor, or has completely misunderstood what Eldredge was saying. It's a shame, but not surprising.
If you ever get the chance to go through the DVDs as already mentioned, then do so. I'd buy them from ransomedheart.com rather than a store. Less cost, plus you benefit the ministry itself, which is spreading the message to other countries right now.

I read Sacred Romance (http://www.amazon.com/Sacred-Romance-Drawing-Closer-Heart/dp/0785273425) - written by the same author - several years ago and it changed my life more than any other book before or since. I cannot recommend it more highly. :-)

My friend's church is doing a joint life group using this book. The guys are reading Wild at Heart, and the gals are reading Captivating. She's supposed to mail me her book when she's done, and from what she's said about it, I can't wait to read it.
I'm sure Wild at Heart is good too. :)
