Update to Thread: It is official, Third Day has now been inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame! and are proud holders of the Georgy Award. Share your thoughts and congratulations with Third Day here.

Third Day, Collective Soul among 2009 Ga. Music inductees

Christian rockers Third Day and Stockbridge-birthed Collective Soul are among the bold-faced names being inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame this year.

The inductees were announced Tuesday during a media luncheon at the CNN Center Dantanna’s downtown.

Veteran Atlanta concert promoter Peter Conlon and songwriter Bryan-Michael Cox are also on this year’s list, along with John L. Carson who is receiving the Pioneer Award. Singer Roy Hamilton, bassist Berry Oakley and music mogul Shakir Stewart will be honored posthumously.

The late Shakir Stewart will be inducted posthumously. The 31st annual Georgia Music Hall of Fame awards show will be broadcast live on GPB-TV Sept. 19 from the Georgia World Congress Center. The evening will be hosted by broadcasters Monica Pearson and Leslie Fram.
