I'm wondering if anyone is aware of this website that negatively singles out Third Day...
I did a search for "Third Day" and "Born Again" and this is a site that came up:
http://www.jesus-is-savior.com/Evils%20in%20America/CCM/third_day.htm
Can anything be done about this? Talk about bearing false witness!!

With freedom of speech and of the press, I don't think there's anything that can be done about it. It's one whacko's belief. It's up to whoever reads it to either agree or disagree. I strongly disagree.

WOW!!!!! That makes me so mad! I'm so mad... my eyes are filled with tears!!!!! That's just HORRIBLE!!!! I'm not sure what to do about it! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

Another one? There was one a few years back too, if I remember right.
Utterly disregard them. The angrier they make you, the more they win.
And unfortunately threads like this just give it more publicity, which is exactly what they want. (I'd personally delete the link to the site in that first post, myself, I know some search engines rate sites higher based on the number of places links to the site show up. If people want to read it badly enough, they'll go look for it.)
Fortunately, the folks who like 3D will know the site is just *pthththt*, and those who don't like them already don't like them anyway, so essentially the pages is just a waste of pixels and bandwidth.
Needless to say, since the link was here, I went ahead and boosted their hit count by one, just to see what they had to say, but didn't stay long. I KNEW I should have stopped reading when they mentioned the BeeGees! The BeeGees?! *snicker* But I kept going, until I got to the line "In fact, ALL rock-n-roll music is straight from Satan." which is when I closed the tab.
 Utter claptrap. *sniffs with disdain* Not worth wasting my time reading the rest of it.

I didn't even bother giving them a hit. I've dealt with these "rock music is of the devil" people before, and the best approach is to ignore them. No, they don't go away, but we get fewer stomach aches. Ooh, I wonder if Sharon's eyes are all right...

LOL. Still can't get over the fact that Third Day was compared to the Bee Gees. For the clothes they wore for the photo shoot. And for not SMILING! Ooooooh. *titter*
Of course the first thing that crossed my mind after seeing that was "Gee, can MAC hit one of those Barry Gibb high notes?" :D

I tend not to read such things as this. I dont even like getting involved in these kinds of discussions. I have very strong opinions of CCM myself that are kind of harsh. Lets face it the music sucks A## and that's just on a musical level, my opinions have do with image and wishy washy aspect of CCM With that being said I do like Third Day and a few others.
You have people on both sides of the spectrum.
People who think it is all evil and bad and those heathens are going to hell, on the same token you have people on the side of "oh it's just music there's no harm in it, its fun the lyrics are Christian though" (how idiotic and blind can one be!!!!!!!!!!)
Obviously they dont have a clue about how music moves people and sets the tone in the atmosphere. The lyrics can be Jesus Jesus Jesus but the music might make me want to commit suicide or put me in a place where I dont want to be. I am a firm believer that music is a door opener to one's spirit and soul and "Christian" or no, the wrong things and even spirits can enter in through said "innocent and "harmless" music.
Let me get of the ole soapbox for a minute
I am in the middle. I listen to both secular and Christian music. Coldplay for example is a very good band and their X Y album was very very inspirational. Most of their music is uplifting and therefore I listen to it.
My guilty vice however is Phish hahaha.
I think sometimes the music itself is more important then the words because many will say Lord Lord. Its easy to say Jesus in a song but to what place does the music take you???

i used to get very angry when i'd read things like this...now i just pitty the person that is like this....for one they must have way too much time on their hands to be so nit pickey about 3D...and they must have never really listened to the lyrics..the first time my grandmother heard a 3D rock song she went nuts telling me how sinful rock and roll is....a few days later she overheard me actually singing lyrics to that song and she asked what it was..she aparently really related to the song...she couldn't believe it was the lyrics to that same song that just days before she was condeming...the song was consuming fire...it just saddens me that some people have views that way in my opinion whatever style of music wether it be a quartet or screamo, if it brings people to Christ then i'm for it.

I must say, I didn't read the article, but it just goes to show that every time someone is doing a good job of bringing people to the Lord- the Devil raises his ugly head in order to hinder the growth of God's Kingdom! So actually, in God's eyes- Third Day looks even better! Just as the World rejected Christ-so will it reject His servants!! (Many examples of that in the Bible)! So I say Keep up the GREAT work Third Day- your Lord & Savior is pleased in what you are doing for Him!!

The fact that Satan is alive and well on planet Earth is hardly a newsflash. We are given clear instruction and warning in The Bible that those of us who chose to accept Christ as the resurrected Son of God who died to pay for our sins would face much resistance from non-believers. Fortunately those of us with half a skull know The Truth and Third Day...and the definite connection between them. One blaring omission by the idiot wrapped in a moron who authored this piece of insanity is their neglect to acknowledge how and where Jesus ministered. Our Lord did not merely perch Himself atop a thrown in the temple and wait for the sinners to come to Him. HE SEARCHED THEM OUT, joined them where they were, and told them to come as they are at that moment. (Obviously all "they"s can be replaced with "we"s, and more importantly "me"s.) So this author laying claim to such examples as "Jesus would never appear on The Tonight Show" is a direct contradiction to the greatest story ever told. Any questions?

If you read all of his idiocy...he makes many glaring mistakes. How anyone can come up with what he did after reading the bible...is beyond me.

Understand up front I'm not picking on you in particular but a tone I see here. Yes, we do not agree, in fact we passionately disagree with this person's opinions. But there may be theological issues that you and I just as strongly disagree upon with both of us feeling we have a scriptural basis to our opinion. But if we started calling each other "idiot" on this message board about it we'd probably be getting warning shots from the mods.
I guess there's a thin line I see between attacking the message and the messenger. Whether he makes you mad, roll your eyes, or go "hmmm" there is a person behind those words. As hurtful as those words are we can do better than calling him names because we don't believe the same as he.

That previous post came out a little more severe than I intended. I'm as bad as anyone when it comes to this kind of stuff, I don't consider myself above anyone, and it's something I've personally been working on, so I'm ultra-sensitive to it. It is hard to not just call this guy a [insert derogatory name], I understand that.
He's right at the core of my struggle as a Christian: trying to understand how any of the 12 bajillion sub-denominations of Christianity can claim only they know The Exact Biblical Truth. The ones who seem to spend more of their time and energy telling other Christians how they're "wrong" and forgetting about the non-Christians out there who are the unfortunate ones who are wrong. But at the same time, with the way that they present their case (much like the subject of this thread) I would rather he be yelling at Christians rather than non-Christians, because that is the type of attitude that chases non-Christians away (in my opinion).
I'm getting too deep here. Maybe I should shut up and slink back to Twitter...I can get in less trouble when only given 140 characters. ;)

Don't be so hard on yourself, Dan. But do keep in mind that we all struggle with some sort of issue where non-believers are concerned. The difference here, however, is that the anti-3D author didn't post here, nor did I go and post on their blog. My personal understanding of this thread was for us to voice our opinion from the perspective of Third Day brethren. And for the record I would MUCH rather expose myself in front of my peers here where y'all can better determine what exactly I need prayer and reprimand for! (:^D)

Besides, Twitter isn't that bad. By itself. But Twitter + Facebook = I don't know if it's because I mentioned I had a "Facey-Space" on my "Tweetie-Page", or if it's because I went ahead and signed up for a user name over on FB when they had the signups at 12:01 Saturday AM, but I suddenly got slammed with Friends requests in my email when I got home today. Half of whom I've never heard of before. There are more folks posting things on my FB page than I've ever posted myself.
And to think I only signed up for a FB account so I could try to figure out why one of my YouTube Todd Agnew videos got something like over 25,000 views, courtesy of "I Like" via FB, and I couldn't check it out without signing up.

Just to give you some background you can thank my kids for this particular soapbox. There's othing quite like dealing with traffic with kids in the back seat. Kid: "Daddy, why is that guy an idiot?" Me [thinking of times I've done something as dumb when driving]: "Well, okay, he's not an idiot but he made an idiotic move." When I was first a "born again Christian" I was fearful of a lot of things because of my peers in the church group I was in at the time who were very legalistic. I guess part of my initial reaction to this particular website (apart from the slanderous depiction of some decent Christians rockers - aka "Third Day") was rooted in that previous experience.

Oh so true :) It is way to easy to do. The guy or gal following you right on your bumper on the highway...Idiot, people die this way. But it is what they did that was stupid...not them. Kids have a way of putting us in check don't they? :D

it may shock and suprise us Gomers, but not everyone in the world is a 3D fan. There are more than a few Christian band I do NOT like, but I'm not going to start us a anti-band site to show how much I don't like them.
All was as fans can do for the band is - keep praying for Third Day & thier ministry, and keep supporting them.
You mean there are actually people who DON'T like ThirdDay?
How could this happen...I guess they just don't know any better :P :D

Yes, and pray for the clueless person that posted that site & the poor souls who might be deceived when reading it...that's the saddest part!
Too bad the site doesn't allow comments to be posted. We could sure set 'em straight!
I saw a site similar to this a few years ago bashing Third Day for encouraging young people to "wanna be rockstars" & for 3D attending the concert of a secular band that cursed on stage (U2.)

My thoughts exactly! ;)

Agree. Not all christian music is good and not all secular music is bad. You see a lot of harmful stuff in music sung by christians the same as you see a lot of harmful stuff done by christians in general. To excuse it because it's 'christians' doing it just makes christianity in general look bad.
Interestingly enough, the ones who defend unhealthy stuff in secular music because they like listening to it are usually the worst offenders with christian music. It's a case of I can do what I want because God loves me. It's just compromise.
It's a matter of sifting through to find out whats good in all of it.
The guilt is on both sides of the fence.

And I have to agree with Jason as well that the BeeGees are musical geniuses. I've never really listened to them either but they are.
A lot of musicians from past eras were. They didn't get their place on the charts through waving their cleavage and lip syncing. (or just lip syncing)
Music styles change though, and if you market yourself through whatevers cool in a particular era, when the era shifts, you'll be chucked out with it. Doesn't matter how talented you are.
One of the problems of being marketed along with your music. And christians do it as well. They might do it less, but they still do it.

PS. Popular musicians almost always say that 'it's all about the music' and complain when people are 'judging them' 'apart from their music'. But if it really is all about the music then why is their face on the cover?
PPS. And you can make excuses like 'so people will be more likely to buy concert tickets because they 'associate' our faces with our music', but yeah.

I think that we have to use discernment in music as in all things. I have been to two 3D concerts so far and it has been an entire evening of worshiping God each time so I believe it to be good for us. The author of the article has evidently not listened to many (or any at all) of Third Day's songs for there are many that talk about the gospel (take Creed for example) and most give glory to God. All the author talks about is the Third Day web site, the band's appearance, and some interviews and not about the music itself (he only talks about CCM in general). So he does not have a leg to stand on.

I came to Christian Music totally by accident, I was searching on the radio for
something new, I was sick of listening to people cursing and singing about,
shaking their butts all over town, , and immoral ,, "Disc Jockeys ".
I never knew that Christian music existed,,, I had been a bad girl and
just made a lifestyle change and put God in my life before everything. I fell in
love with the songs I was hearing I don't know the first band I heard, all I
knew this was it, I found what I was looking for no foul anything, then I heard
that voice, singing Wire, I went to Walmart and picked up Wire and Wherever
You Are, that was my hook, and became which I hate to admit a compulsive
Third Day addict. This is where I think that website was trying to get his point
across, that maybe we draw away from God, I know that if it is not one thing
it is another thing, TV, Computers, Children, Relationships, Work, I can go on
and on about, what takes us away, from not giving God our all, so the man
or women has a point, we all don't have to agree or disagree, you know your
relationship with God, and you are the one who has to answer to God on the
day of Judgment. So I can feel good about going to 4 Third Day shows since
2006 being my first, and going 2 times in Jan. to Winter Jam, they are going
to be kinda local. One about 10 min. from my house and the other one about
3 hours from home I am an addict and I may need a support group lol. Just
remember we all have Freedom Of Speech, unless someone takes that away.
Asking God for protection from harm and putting on his Armor for battle. Amen
