Totally cool number. Do not go to It's Too Quiet (thread). Spoilers aplenty there.

Enjoyed Revelation and Mac singing with the Blind Boys of AL. Apparently this wasn't on the televised awards show, but the guys won 2 Dove awards:

Third Day wins best Pop Contemporary Album of the year for "REVELATION" and another DOVE for the Packaging of REVELATION.

Just found this on the GMC website:

Perennial favorites Third Day won the Dove for Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year for “Revelation.” Casting Crowns won Group of the Year, but backstage Mark Hall said he expected it to go to Third Day based on the success this year of “Revelation,” which he called his favorite album.

Artist of the Year: Steven Curtis Chapman
I think it would have been sad if he had NOT won.

New Artist of the Year: Tenth Avenue North
I like them! That was a tough catagory this year - many great new artists!

Song of the Year: "Give Me Your Eyes" Brandon Heath, Jason Ingram
I knew when this song came out that it would be nominated for Song of the Year, but I sure thought it would be up against "Call My Name"!!

Male Vocalist of the Year: Brandon Heath
That kind of surprises me. It also surprises me that Mac wasn't even nominated!

Female Vocalist of the Year: Natalie Grant
What is this, 4 years in a row now? That girl can sing!

Group of the Year: Casting Crowns
I was VERY surprised they beat Third Day!

Rock/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year: "Washed By The Water" by NeedToBreathe
Good song!

Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year: "Give Me Your Eyes" by Brandon Heath
Again, no surprise there. Again, where was "Call My Name?"

Inspirational Recorded Song of the Year: "A New Hallelujah" by Michael W. Smith
This song is OK. They sure play it to death on K-Love, though!

Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year: Revelation, Third Day
:D Yea!!! I think it's their best ever! Congrats Gentlemen - well deserved! Don't ever stop doing what you do so well! :D

I was excited for the Dove awards because I thought that this year’s Dove would be between in Third Day and Steven Curtis Chapman and of course Third Day’s performance but after they play revelation I could not believe what I heard because was so bad not because of Third Day but because of the problems that Mark had with his guitar, you could not hear anything from Mark’s guitar and then they cut the song in the half and after Mark plug his guitar straight up to the amp, they were able to finish the song with half guitar sound. I could not believe that the people that organizes The Dove could do such a poor backstage job that could make such a beautiful song as revelation could sound bad because of sound problems. After that came the award for the group of the year I which I thought would be between Third Day and Mercy Me because was the only bands with new CDs, but they announced that Casting Crowns was the winner I was like WHAT?!?!?! NO WAY!!!!!!!!! Don’t get me wrong I love Casting Crowns but Mercy Me and Third Day are a lot better then Casting Crowns which did not release a CD in almost 2 years. After that I turn my TV off and went to sleep.

* Mary and Mary it’s not a group but a Duet

I just saw the performance on YouTube and I wished they'd sung the entire song. Mark had problems but it was still a good performance. I couldn't believe they weren't group of the year, artist of the year and that the album wasn't in the ROCK category.

Actually what Mark Hall said was closer to... "I was shocked that we were nominated because we didn't have an album out this year, and I've heard the Third Day CD and I loved it."

I'm not positive if that was his "exact" words but thats basically what he said.

I really think Revelation should have been in the rock category too. I understand Steven Curtis Chapman winning though, couldn't really be disappointed there. The Doves get too stuck on giving awards to the same people every year which is why Casting Crowns and Natalie Grant won, how about recognizing someone else, huh?

Thanks for the clarification, Janet. I liked it better though when Mark Hall was quoted as saying Revelation was his favorite album. :)

LOL It might have been his quote... I just know that he said he said he was surprised that he was nominated since they didn't have a CD released last yr.
