Great is Thy Faithfulness, oh God my Father, there is no shadow of turning with Thee, Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not, As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be. Great is Thy faithfulness, Great is Thy faithfulness, morning by morning new mercies I see; All I have needed Thy hand hath provided, Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto me.

Second choice would be one of the Fanny Crosby hymns, Blessed Assurance.

Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing....particulary this verse:
"O to grace how great a debtor
Daily I’m constrained to be!
Let Thy goodness, like a fetter,
Bind my wandering heart to Thee.
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
Prone to leave the God I love;
Here’s my heart, O take and seal it,
Seal it for Thy courts above.

This one makes me cry all the time and is one of my favorite if not my favorite of all time

The love of God is greater far
Than tongue or pen can ever tell;
It goes beyond the highest star,
And reaches to the lowest hell;
The guilty pair, bowed down with care,
God gave His Son to win;
His erring child He reconciled,
And pardoned from his sin.

Refrain

O love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure
The saints’ and angels’ song.

When years of time shall pass away,
And earthly thrones and kingdoms fall,
When men, who here refuse to pray,
On rocks and hills and mountains call,
God’s love so sure, shall still endure,
All measureless and strong;
Redeeming grace to Adam’s race—
The saints’ and angels’ song.

Refrain

Could we with ink the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
And every man a scribe by trade,
To write the love of God above,
Would drain the ocean dry.
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Though stretched from sky to sky.

"How marvelous, How wonderful
and my song shall ever be,
How marvelous, How wonderful
is my Savior's love for me!"

Can't recall the title, but this one is awesome.

^That would be, I Stand Amazed (How Marvelous).

The better question would be what hymn doesn't make me cry.

How Great Thou Art
It Is Well with My Soul
Great Is Thy Faithfulness
Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing
Pass Me Not, O Gentle Savior
When I Survey the Wondrous Cross
I Stand Amazed
I Need Thee Every Hour
Amazing Grace
Christ Arose (With this one, I don't know whether to start beaming because I'm so happy, or break down and bawl.)
I Surrender All
Just As I Am
Blessed Assurance

I should probably just stop now. I could come up with plenty more if I thought about it long enough.

This song blesses me too. But did you realize that the writer of this song did not write this verse. These words were found written on the walls of a room in a mental hospital in the 1500's. Look at the wording, the writer is writing of what he knows, and is trying to describe God's love which of course is indescribable. How deep is the love of God!!

How Great thou art
It is well with my soul
I know whom I believe in
The old rugged cross

Indeed it is. And we are using it in our Lenten services. Pastor Weedon wrote the sermons. Uff-da, reading them has been a very humbling experience. When I found out that the series came with sermons prepared, my prideful response was "Oh I can write my own Lenten sermons." But then I read some of them and realized I would be depriving the people here of some great sermons. I modify them a little bit but still use them, giving Pastor Weedon full credit of course. That man is a preacher and a half.

As far as my favorite hymns.

Well being a good Lutheran of course I have to say "A mighty fortress is our God." But I also like "Holy, holy, holy" "Praise to the Lord the Almighty" "Borning Cry" "Almighty God thy Word is cast" and "On Christ the Solid Rock I stand"

Great call on "Praise to the Lord the Almighty"

The only hymn that I remember bringing tears to my eyes was Il Divo's version of O Holy Night.

However you have to actually watch it on the DVD with a good sound system, otherwise it's just not the same. (Youtube clips don't cut it.)
