Soo... I have a couple of cover ideas. I got most of these from choir.
Show Me The Way by STYX
(The music we sing to for this song is A LOT better than what you would find on Myspace! And, the notes are a lot better also.)
Everybody Rejoice! from "The Wiz" (it's a musical!)
It's a pain to sing. I couldn't see Third Day covering it... but I could see Mac doing it as a project with some other people.
I've got a couple other ideas... but I'll post those later. I really think Show Me The Way would be a very good song for Third Day to re-do. In our version of it... there's 3 part harmony... but you can do it with 2... I think! You would have to talk to Mrs. Colwell about that stuff!
Have you had any cover ideas?
:D

I love your enthusiasm!
Show me the Way song title reminds of Third Day's song, My Hope is You, because, in the chorus the words go....
My Hope is YOU
Show me your ways
Guide me in Truth
In all my Days
Naturally, these are the words stuck in my head, for me, this was my salvation song..so,
Not being a huge Styx fan, I may or may not have heard this song before. Just took a listen, and came to the conclusion, Third Day could turn Mary had a little lamb into a major rock song for Christ in someway!!!
Nice choice Chelsie!!

Forgot to add my cover choices.....
I'd love to see what they could do with "He's Alive" by Dolly Parton. I can hear Mac wailing it, I think it'd be great. I won't get into the detail, but they know :)
On a fun side...."I Saw the Light" Hank Williams Sr...Mark Lee picking a little banjo/ganjo, that would just be cool.

Didn't they pull that out and do it during one of their shows sometime back, the tour where David Crowder Band opened for them? They brought out the DCB to do it and the crew were doe-si-doe-ing around at the back of the stage? I think that might have been Lynchburg or Greensboro I remember it from...
I might have pics or a clip of that someplace. I guess work will have to wait just a few minutes while I go look for it. ;)

What about a Travis Tritt song? Everyone says that he and Mac sound alike, and plus they're all from Marietta, Georgia. Sounds like fate to me. ;)

I just came back to comment after the java started kicking in, I believe you are correct. I saw it in Nashville. Not sure they did at the other shows I saw on this tour. One more cup and I might have it :)

Finally found it (of all times for the boss to call in! LOL). :) I remember it from the "Ride and Drive" Greensboro show, April 2006.
Got a couple of pics (among many MANY others from the show ;) ) and a 40 second clip of it here (http://www.kcusimano.com/thirdday/ThirdDay_WYA_Greensboro_P icsNClips/index8.html). The clip is linked to the thumbnail in the 2nd row, fourth one over.

I must not have gotten enough of it :) 2006 was a little fuzzy for me. I do believe in Nashville they did it with Marty Stewart.

LOL. It's like the customer I just called back from a voice mail he left last night, after I said who I was, the first thing he asked me was how many cups I've had this morning, one or two. I guess I came off as overly perky. Or maybe overly "percolated" would be a better word. :D
(and for the record, I am on my second cup, which is actually less than I usually have in my system by now. Just a little behind schedule this morning.)
Let's see, what were we talking about again? LOL. Oh yeah. Cover versions. Doesn't matter to me, Mac could sing happy birthday and I'd be happy. :)

Do you mean the Peter Frampton song?
Robert Randolph did Jesus is Just Alright on the Musicbuilds tour. I bet 3D would take that song to another level. :D

Here's the lyrics to the STYX song:
Every night I say a prayer in the hope that theres a heaven
And every day Im more confused as the saints turn into sinners
All the heroes and legends I knew as a child have fallen to idols of clay
And I feel this empty place inside so afraid that Ive lost my faith
Show me the way, show me the way
Take me tonight to the river
And wash my illusions away
Show me the way
And as I slowly drift to sleep, for a moment dreams are sacred
I close my eyes and know theres peace in a world so filled with hatred
That I wake up each morning and turn on the news to find weve so far to go
And I keep on hoping for a sign, so afraid that I just wont know
Show me the way, show me the way
Take me tonight to the mountain
And take my confusion away
And if I see a light, should I believe
Tell me how will I know
Show me the way, show me the way
Take me tonight to the river
And wash my illusions away
Show me the way, show me the way
Give me the strength and the courage
To believe that Ill get there someday
Show me the way
Every night I say a prayer
In the hope that theres a heaven...
And yes I think they'd make me like the song better! And you are absolutely right, they would definately kick up Jesus is Just Alright several notches! Both good choices!

Thanks! It's an awesome song to sing in choir. It's my favorite.
We're also singing Queen. It's really difficult. (It includes We Will Rock You, Another One Bites the Dust, We Are the Champions, and Bohemian Rhapsody!)
Haha, true about the "Mary had a Little Lamb" thing.
I am not a STYX fan either. But, the song is lovely to sing. (When it doesn't have the OLD sound to it.) I'll have to see if I can get a recording of us singing it at our concert in May.

Thanks for all the comments!
Soo... I had second thoughts about the "Everybody Rejoice!" song and I really don't like that song... AT ALL!
This is kind of off subject but... I thought I might tell you the songs we are singing in choir! I don't know why but, I just thought it might be intersting to see how many people say something about it!
As a whole (the whole choir class):
Show Me the Way by STYX
Everybody Rejoice! from the musical "The Wiz"
Queen Tribute (includes We Will Rock You, Another One Bites the Dust, We Are the Champions, and Bohemian Rhapsody)
I Am but a Small Voice
... and more!
The girls sing (Soprano and Altos):
We Belong by Pat Benetar
(It's the song they used for (I think) the Honda Odyssey comercial "We belong, we belong, together!"
The boys sing:
She's Got A Way by Billy Joel

They did a little bit of it at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg summer of '08. It was pretty cool. IF they ever did anything Skynyrd, I'd love to hear "Simple Man" I think it's got a really cool groove that Third Day would put a good spin on.

And at the Greenville (http://www.kcusimano.com/thirdday/ThirdDay_Greenville_Clips/), SC show, back in November '06 I think it was. Caught two short clips of it (almost 2 minutes total) about half way down the page of the Greenville link. Wonder if Mac worked out the "guitar solo" by the time they played it in Williamsburg. ;)

Today, me and my friend Eli started singing 'Ramblin Man.' I knew more of the song than he did!
(That's only because Third Day sang it!)
Otherwise, I would've been lost!

LOL He sang Happy Birthday to a radio host here when he was here for the GR tour and they played it all day that day. It was surprised me how deep he voice was when he sung it lol. The great thing was it was right around the time of my B-Day.:D

If you want to hear a great cover of Bohemian Rhapsody, go here:

I think they should probably cover a Keith Urban song, since he's covering Call My Name.
