Anyone read this book? I am currently partaking in a Hottub Bible Study (Freakin' awesome btw!!!) And the leader, my close friend suggested that we read the book, "The Shack" because it would answer some of the questions we were asking ourselves, and would blow our minds and give us such a clear and different view of how God is present in our lives. I only read the forward of the book, but so far I love it! What are your reactions to this book? Did it touch you in some way?

Really? In what kind of a way though? Like it wasn't a good book, or it just wasn't true/right? I still have yet to read it, but I am interested in it. I heard lost of good things about it, but we'll see.

I am a personal friend of the auther Paul Young. the book is not trash and anyone who "sits it out" because of what someone else says is missing out on one of the best books of all time.
The book is a healing book and shares more truth about the TRIUNE nature of God and the love the Blessed Trinity has for humankind than most any other book of it's kind.
You will love this book! The author is genuine and the nicest guy I ever met.

I can't wait to read it...I read the first chapter last night, and I can already tell what's going on. It's VERY inspirational how the author uses real-life situations and people to make it more about the common-man, which is rather cool, and easier to relate to! I like it so far!

My mom gave me this book a couple of months ago, but I still haven't sat down to read it yet. She highly recommends it though! One of these days I'll read it.

"Honor thy father and mother" ha ha ;)
It's not trash, and it's not a theology textbook. It's not technically 100% right in doctrinal matters. It's also not great from a literary standpoint (I have heard that Mr. Young resisted having the book edited, which is a shame).
There is one really bizarre chapter (the festival of light business).
BUT. The book is a wonderful example of the lengths God will sometimes go through to show someone how much He loves them. It's a book, first and foremost, that cries out that God cares about people, knows us intimately, and loves us deeply. I wouldn't give it to a brand new believer but it was a good discussion book.

If you haven't read it, and you can't alternatively provide an objective assessment on why somebody else shouldn't read it, then all your doing is gossiping. Read it, or really and truly stay out of it -- don't state your opinion and then pretend you don't have one... empty words.
