I found it interesting that chia seeds are actually a real food. Also, they are good for you. Not only that, but you can eat the sprouts, too -- and they are as good as any sprouts I've had.
Hey, my daughter got a Chia Pet for Christmas (it was actually shaped like a Christmas Tree). I couldn't help but try a bite (I like sprouts). I figured a little nibble from the bottom wouldn't be noticed, and besides, they couldn't be poisonous if they are patented as toys for kids, right?
Then I found out that chia seeds can be ground into flour and used as a flour substitute which is gluten-free, and they have great nutritional value.
It's amazing what you can learn when you try to eat your child's pet...

Please, before you eat them you must sing their little song: Chi-chi-chi-chia! :D

And remember... ChristChild says you need to sing the "chi-chi-chi-chia!" song before you try the brownies. :D

Maybe... but Salvia columbariae (chia seed used in chia pets) might also treat heart attack and stroke victims in the future, too!:

As the brains of this operation ........
(I told myself I wanted to use this phrase some time today, and I forgot about it til now. Better get it in!! :D )
I'm just thinking that I would have loved to have been there at the initial stages of watching Rock wonder what the chia tastes like and then glancing over his shoulder looking to see if anyone was watching as he snagged a sprout.
hilarious.

...glancing over his shoulder looking to see if anyone was watching as he snagged a sprout.
That's about how it went down. By the way, I told my girls (6 and 10), and they both decided that I needed some help... (picking chia sprouts and eating them that is...):D
What have I done?
ps. Salome is gifted as the "brains of this outfit":

I've been using Salba (Hispanica Silva), one brand name product of this grain. It really is delicious. It is very high in protein, but is gluten free, which makes it excellent for anyone who needs to restrict/eliminate gluten from their diet. I started using it for the anti-inflammatory effect, and it really is effective, if you eat about an ounce a day. I just didn't know it was the same thing as "white chia" until recently.

That's cool... I'm still having one of those, "Well, what do you know!" moments. Anti-inflammatory? Sounds like chia might be good for lots of stuff!

Keep munching those sprouts, Rock. They'll make you big and strong one day. :D
By the way, I can't believe that a thread about sprouts is onto its second page. :P
