I got the email notifying me that my membership expires on January 7th, followed by the prices for renewal.
I'll not only be out of the country on January 7th, I have no money now or then. If I decide to wait until I have extra money to renew my account, what will happen? Is that possible? Will I have to pay a different price because I didn't renew right away? Will my account be deleted and I have to sign up for a new one?
Please let me know...I'm super-curious.

I also received the e mail from Wired about renewal. I believe you can renew later, but at the higher price. This is from the e mail:
Your WIRED membership is currently set to expire in January (exact expiration date can be found in the My Account section of the Wired site). On January 7th, we will be sending you a full update of renewal options for your membership.
The renewal options without membership kits will only be made available to existing Wired members with an active membership. If your membership expires, your only options for renewal will be those with membership packs.

That's total rubbish. So I have to receive another shirt I'll never wear, a totally useless laminate, and a sticker that I think I threw away?
Why won't it be possible to simply keep that junk and my $10 extra and renew when I have not enough money to even get gas to go back to school??

Alas, a lot of clubs apparently do it that way. At least we've been given a heads up that it's time to renew. With another one I was in, I got an email AFTER my subscription was up saying that if I renewed before it expired, I'd get a price break. Man, I was hacked off about that. I opted to not renew for a few years, until word that the new album was coming out, then I jumped back on the bandwagon.

Just because a lot of people do it this way doesn't mean it's right.
I really could care less about more stuff. This is super-disappointing to me.
