With Jimmie Johnson on the brink of a three-peat there are no posts in this forum about NASCAR? What gives?

No one hates Jimmie as much as Jeff. He was the old pretty boy fighting it out with the aging Dale. Now no one has brought the same intensity.

I don't have a favorite any more since dumping Jeff for disagreeing with his discard of his testimony.

But that crash last week where the one car ran up under the other was aweseome!

Oh and Jimmie needs to finish like 34 or better to win.

But what about the financial/other issues that will be comming to the sport?

Nascar has become rather dull at this point in the season. It was apparent weeks ago that Jimmie would win it all again.

jeff Gordon is my favorite, but I think they need a crew chief change. Steve Latarte never seems to be able to improve Jeffs car once it goes away.

Just don't even pay any attention to him.........

ANYWAYS! I LOVEEEEEEEEEEE NASCAR and I don't post here because no one really responds to NASCAR.

My name *Genna20* has the 20 in it because of TONY!! Tony is my boy all the way! :D

I can't stand Jimmie Johnson, although I do find him hot, his personality is a HUGE turn off for me........

Not a Stewart fan myself....but I can tolerate him.

I can't stand the 18.

My drivers are Jimmie, Mark Martin and Jeff Burton.

I LOVEEEEEEEEEEE NASCAR and I don't post here because no one really responds to NASCAR.....I don't know about that; several of us regularly take part in any Nascar discussion here on the boards. It's just that the sport is not that popular among the majority of the stick and ball crowd - of which I admittedly am also a member. ;)

By the way, I'd really love to see Tony and Zippy go out with one more win - but the 48 team deserves this title. I've been following the sport long enough that I saw Cale and Junior win three straight ttitles in the '70s; what Jimmy and Chad have done is even more impressive. Their perfomance over the last 3 years has been incredible.

if driving was a sport than the whole world would be one big track. Whats sport like about flooring the gas pedal and slamming on the brake. Alas I'll never know:confused:

Though somehow this comment coming from you doesn't surprise me (I've read the boards for a long time, but just recently registered)

I stopped caring about NASCAR when it became clear Kyle wasn't going to win the championship this year. (I do believe he will win it at some point.)

By the way, a belated welcome to the neighborhood........;)

Ditto what he said! :D

I quit caring about NASCAR when management decided that money was more important than fan input. If you remember a few years back, they polled the fans at every race about whether or not to allow Toyota to be a sponsor. The fans voted "NO" rather emphatically, but they still did it. The fans voted "NO" to the "new" championship competition, but they changed things anyway. I don't even follow it now. I couldn't care less WHO wins.

I can't stand the Shrub either. I do love Martin and Burton. Martin is my second fave driver, with Biffle a very close 3rd.

Yeah the threads seem to die pretty fast though...

I'd love to see Tony get one more win too and it is looking GOOD for him now! :)

That was a very ignorant comment. I'd watch the sport for a while before assuming ANYTHING. And seriously, its really childish how you click on a NASCAR thread to read it when you don't even like NASCAR just so you can come in here and knock all of the NASCAR fans for being fans. You really need to grow up.

no trouble meant I was just agreeing with Jason and I wasn't knocking NASCAR fans I'm knocking NASCAR. If you like NASCAR you like it thats your choice I have no problem with it. All I am saying is it's not a sport to me driving around in circles is totally pointless but thats my opinion. I have nothing against NASCAR fans.

And the whole reason I read this thread was because Jason posted and like I said I was agreeing with him. It's only perceived as ignorant because I used rolling eyes but I changed them to a more appropriate confused smiley

Is J.J. the best ever? Is it harder or easier to win now than when Cale Yarborough had a three-peat in the mid- to late-70s?

Cale Jimmie
76-78 06-08
28 22 Wins
70 48 Top 5
74 70 Top 10
6.2 10.3 Avg. finish

If JJ wants to cement himself forever, a 4-peat title run would be the route to go...

Of course Yarborough's number's above look better, there are more competition now and there are more drivers that run all year. So it could be argued that either CY's or JJ's 3-peat is more impressive.

I'm just lovin' it.

Each weekends events draw an average combined crowd of 250,000 fans (many from out of state) and generates approximately 45 million dollars in revenue for the area economy. ;)

What in the wide world of Goodyear does Dover have to do with Chicago?

However, it's also a big deal for the Chicago area. (Didn't think I could save this one, did you? ;) ) Nearby Rockport hosts one of the longest operating and succesful NASCAR short tracks in the country; the initial construction project to build Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet created nearly 3,400 jobs that provided more that $100 million in wages for local residents and surrounding counties; and the Tropicana 400 at Chicagoland Speedway is estimated to generate more than $300 million in economic activity in Joliet and in the Will county region.

Is J.J. the best ever? Is it harder or easier to win now than when Cale Yarborough had a three-peat in the mid- to late-70s?...While Jimmy has already established himself as one of the best drivers in NASCAR history, it's too early to call him the greatest ever. However, he's definitely entered the great category; right now he's 15th on the all time wins list and tied with 4 other guys for 3rd in most championships.

As far as it being harder or easier to win now, I think it's easier to drive but harder to win. Driving conditions were tougher in Cales day, because there was no power steering or power brakes; no cool suits; and the safety features were much less advanced than today However, the NASCAR inspection process was a joke compared to today - Cales car owner Junior Johnson was one of the most creative guys at bending the rules in the history of the sport - and the overall competition level is much higher today.

I used to be a big fan of NASCAR and especially Dale Sr. In the last few years it has really become rather boring to me. Since Dale's death, NASCAR has implemented so many changes that although have probably made the sport safer, they have hurt the sport in general. All the cars look the same now except for a few headlight and brand emblem decals. No more going below the yellow line at Daytona and Dega, harsh punishment for aggressive driving......just takes the fun out of it.:(
