I have a child like faith, and even though I'm pushing 36...I haven't lost touch with the kid in me. But @ work, I find this side of me, gets made fun of. Am I crazy??? Should I let this part of my die, to fit in???

Just out of curiosity, what is it that you do at work that gets you made fun of?
Heck, I'm 40something, and I STILL like to play. :)

I work with mostly teens. One day, this teen gal got to talking to her friend about cartoons. I joined in, 'cause it was a cartoon I use to watch with my nefew. The co-manager laughed, and said...I expect this from the teens. But not from you Roger...

There is no need to let this part of you die! He's the one that sounds like the fuddy duddy!
Long live Scooby Doo!!!!!!

For me, my favorite is Bugs Bunny! Seriously!
There is a big difference between being child-like and childish. Being childish needs to die, but hold onto that child like ability to play. That is what makes life fun!

I couldn't have said it better myself. :)
I've always been rather mature my whole life, but I am just a kid on the inside. Therefore, I think I demonstrate the difference between being childish and child-like rather well.
For example, Disney is one of my favorite things, and Winnie-the-Pooh is my all time favorite Disney character. Ol' Pooh Bear is typically marketed at preschoolers. And I typically feel like I'm about four-years-old, so I guess that's about right.

It's all in how he said it. If he was laughing WITH you and just teasing, don't worry about it. If he was laughing AT you and doing it to be mean, well, don't worry about that either, that's his problem. Just mentally file him under "fuddy duddy" and ignore it.
But heck, there's nothing wrong with watching cartoons. I've been known to tune into Spongebob on occasion, for very VERY small doses, since that's about as much Spongebob as I can stand at any one time.
But I always crack up MY boss when I bring the mail in and sing a bit of the Mail Song from Blue's Clues, and that is SO not grownup TV. LOL :P
Here's the mail
It never fails
It makes me wanna wag my tail
When it comes I wanna wail...
MAIL!!!

I sing Blue's Clues songs a lot, too. And Dora The Explorer. And just about every other preschool TV show. Like I said, I'm about four-years-old. :)

To quote my favorite comic strip, Bloom County: "It's never too late to have a happy childhood!"

I never act childish @ work, I am the one the kids look up to @ work. Why??? 'Cause I am one of the older workers there. But from time to time, I let the kid come out in me. Thanx for your resonses...

REading what you said your boss said it didn't sound like he was laughing at you... but it would be tone of voice I guess... I couldn't care less if people thought I was too childlike... the times I'm the happiest and most productive are when I am myself... just be who you are and don't worry about it... :) :)

i agree. i mean my dad is 48 and we still sit and watch old tom and jerry and looney tunes reruns together on boomerang....and i still watch some of my childhood cartoons on a regular basis...there's nothing wrong with holding on to the things you loved so dearly as a child...also the other day my dad and i watched the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, it was awesome...

Just had to come back and share this...
I still get made fun of...and i attend an apostolic church...lol...the holy rollers club...if you will...
i shout, jump run dance...........when i get excited about what God has done for me...i simply just don't care what other's think...i am not trying to please them...
I clap my hands just have me a good time....life's too short not too...no matter where you are....
I love to laugh, i love cartoons that are funny and clean....I enjoy the comics...it's still the first place i look....
i get excited over the simple small pleasures in this world....for we take too much for granted...
the flight of butterfly or the giggle of a child....a flower about to open it's petals....
enjoy the roses along the way...and if other's can't ...love them, pray for them...and ENJOY LIFE....
David danced before the ark of the covenant...and his wife freaked out...
let them say whatever they want...
child like faith we must have it...and if it floods over into our work...praise God....we need more of it...and less of the holier than thou, uppity nose pointed in the air....if it rained they would drown mentality...
I realize that in the work environment, there's certain standard of respectability and business attitude we must have...
but hey...it doesn't hurt to let you hair down once in a while...
I pray in Jesus name, none of us ever loose that child like faith l....for such is the kingdom of God...

the co-manager was laughing @ me, not with me. But I'm over it now. He quit, and about 3 or 4 weeks later I quit. I'm gonna apply 4 a janitor job in town, I hope I get it. Its at a Elementry school in town, and I have janitor experience. The job pays well... I can use a job like that.
I still have a child like faith, I don't think that will ever change.
PS - I didn't get the job
