I am wanting to be a web designer when I get older and so I am wanting to make my own website. And I was wondering if there is anyway I can make it where you have to have a password to view it, because I only want my friends to be able to view it.

If you are looking to build your own website you will probably need to look at familiarising yourself with programs such as Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Photoshop. You will also want to invest some time in learning how to use HTML code as well as Java. This is by no means easy... or cheap. I have a tertiary qualification in this area and can say that one thing is needed above all else: CREATIVITY. If you have a passion for this and feel you are creative go for your life. If so, I would suggest you go out and purchase one of those For Dummies books on web design to get a feel for it and see if you like it.

If you wish to take the quick and easy path to making your own website on a casual basis then I would suggest creating your own Wordpress blog site. You don't have to learn any fancy codes and stuff like that, and you can make it look very cool with very little effort (you can also password protect stuff and your friends can interact with you). I had to create one as part of my uni course. Check it out: http://cstoker05.wordpress.com/

Anyway, I hope I am not discouraging you from pursuing this. I just wanted share from experience what I discovered. Your best bet is to pray about it. God will lead you down the road he wants to take you on...

There's TONS of free online CSS, Java, HTML, PSP, and PS tutorials online. I use them all the time. Take advantage of it!!! You can do a basic search for whatever codes you're looking for. It won't make you an expert, but it will help with some of the basics.
