Tonite Angelo introduced us to a gal that he has been "seeing" since last Tuesday. They are going to homecoming a week from Saturday. So the parenting discussions continue...

soooo, how was the dance? My son is a freshman this year and is going to the Homecoming dance this Saturday. He asked a girl to go as friends, but he doesn't really know her. A couple of his friends who are girls asked him to ask her. :P There will be a group of about 14 of them, so I think he'll have fun.
And yeah, I still haven't bought him something to wear .......

Well, my oldest is in 6th grade, and they had their first middle school "after school" dance from 4-6 pm last Friday. I kept asking him if he wanted to go, and I THINK he did, but none of his buds were going, so he chose not to. He said he heard no-one was really dancing, they just all got in a circle and jumped up and down the whole time. Hahaha!

At my first after-school hop, they played music, and all the girls stood on one side of the room, and all the boys stood on the other side. It was excruciating.

My son went to his third or fourth dance this weekend and has decided that he won't bother with any more for a while as they get a bit boring - but they do dance a lot and enjoy getting dressed up... thankfully he hasn't been to an extremely dressy one as yet, but it's different here as it's perpetual summer so they don't wear suits anyway... :) :)

Back 'home' in New Zealand, the police hold dances for the kids - they used to be called Blue Light Discos, I think they might now be called something different... the local police join in in civvies as chaperones and they have a great time... great way to become a 'face' in the community as well.. :)
