A lot of you may or may not know the story behind our kitty, Mona. She is a very special kitty indeed! I just wanted to share some photos of her and our other babies, Angel and Hershey.

I don't really have many pictures of Hershey. He doesn't like being on that side of the camera. LOL! Please share your photos!!

Here are a few of my kitties. Most of them are outside cats. KittyBoy lives inside and only goes out supervised due to his disability. First is Elvis by the heater, then Dolly on the wheelchair ramp. The kitten on the chair is the earliest picture I have of KittyBoy. A hard fought photo, as posing a kitten is a little like sewing a button on a raw egg. Then we have Elvis on the roof of my car, and Nick asking out.

Button and Holly are so lovely , does button chase marigold ? As for my pics i am working on those

ausgirl
09-13-2008, 08:27 PM
Button doesn't, Holly does!

Button was terrified of the chooks when I got them, Holly was a bit scared to begin with as she barked at the girls when she was first home (6 weeks old) and one decided it would show her who's boss and have a bit of a go at her.

Eventually she got over her fear and now she chases them and the bossy one chases her back! It is funny to watch - no one gets harmed though.

If I'm not mistaken, one of my fave drivers has set up a fund to help the animals affected by Ike.

Here's Lucy and Shelley (Lucy is in the condo, Shelley is on top)...

93393

And Chloe and Ozzy...

93392

Shelley, Chloe, and Ozzy are littermates, our first attempt at getting a matched set of cats instead of getting them one at a time. The result of losing three other cats in one year and finding ourselves suddenly with room to take all three of them.

And wow, looking at those pics made me cry just now.

Awww, Pumpkin DOES look like Chloe.

But I know what you mean. I lost three kitties back in 2005, one just after Christmas to old age, one to cancer mid year, and Tigger *sigh* from a flukey incident at the vet when we took her and the others for their yearly healthy cat exams and shots in January. Tigger, a real wuss at the house, was always a spaz at the vet, to the point where they had to put on leather gloves to examine her or get bitten. When we took her in for her yearly, the vet noticed that she'd lost a little weight so brought her in the back to do some bloodwork on her, and she just stressed out to the point where her blood pressure dropped and and her heart started failing, and there wasn't anything he could do for her. So we went in with three healthy cats that day and came out with two. :(

I still tear up thinking about it, and that was almost four years ago. 2005, a very bad year for cats.

I love my newbies, but since we got them as a set, they're a little more independent of us than our old timers were (and probably having them for a good 15-19 years made them more affectionate to us than the newbies are). But little by little, while they're not as people oriented as the old timers were, they're learning...

Ah those pics are awesome. Gotta get mine up.. My kitty and four 17 year old dogs all died in one year...Lord, I was so messed up but so many good people gave me so many verses about how all creation returns to the Maker. Amen. How could they not? Some many disagree but I choose to believe. I miss my babies and I am so grateful for my 4 and 6 year old puggies. Had them since wobbly stage:)....So grateful people do that funding for these animals...So cool. Gotta love them...Have a wonderful day, Lou

Kitten update: Big Momma had her annual batch, but all were stillborn but one. And Skinny Momma's babies have adopted him! It's to the point where they don't want to give him back to her to feed! It's too funny. The little guy doesn't seem to care which mom feeds him, either. They're out there swapping babies like crazy.

Aww Yeah we lost Pumpkin February 2006, and Leroy in September 2006. That was a rough year. Then just before Christmas 2006, mom and stepdad sprung a surprise on us! Our little Christmas Angel. :D

It really took Mona a while but she's warmed up to us quite a bit. She even lets us cuddle her a little.

I totally agree. We put our sweet baby of 15 years down one week, to the day, after my grandmother passed. We had her since I was 9 years old and I just cried the whole way to take her.

I just know she's up in Heaven keeping my Nana company, along with Whisper and little Dominic *who also passed this year*. They were her three babies and she loved them dearly.

Mona was meant to be hers and we were supposed to pick her up the very morning of my Nana's death. God had other plans. Its like Mona was her last gift to us and that makes her all the more precious to me.

Buttabean
09-23-2008, 06:53 PM
That sounds like my "baby," who is 3 years old. She has discovered that she has a voice, and she uses it constantly. I'm about to re-name her to Howler or something! This is a picture with her littermates (of which we still have all 4--2 went to my dad's, my mom has 1 (and their mom) and I have Blazer). I didn't really give them names that I thought would stick, because I thought we'd be giving them away. So, their names are:

Whitey (obvious)
Blazer (mine)
Weener (calico)
Mustache (again, obvious)

Blazer got to reunite with Whitey and Weener over the summer while I stayed with my dad. Weener didn't want much to do with her, but she and Whitey became fast friends again:

And then I have a hamster, named Squeaker.

Thanks! We've had a lot of calicos growing up, since those are my dad's favorite. We have this one beautiful old lady named Callie (but we call her Cleeky, because of the cute meow she has) who is the clear calico--mostly white, except for a few brown and black patches. She has a cute black cap on her head that makes her look like she has a combover! She's about 13 years old now. :)

My pictures are way too big and take too long to resize, so I'll just add links.

This is my parent's cat that they rescued. She was living in our backyard underneath the storage building, but my dad managed to gain her trust enough that she let him pick her up and bring her in the house. She hasn't been outside since (and that was in April). She was pregnant by the time by parents got her, and she had 6 little kittens on June 7th. I was away working on the other side of the country, and dad was away working in another part of the province most of the summer, so my mom had 7 cats running around to keep her busy. Anyways, this is the link to a picture of me and Momma Mia.

This was technically supposed to be my cat, but at the time, my parents still had their dog, so they didn't want to bring a cat in the house, so Kohl went to live with my grandmother and the three cats she already had.
