What is his problem with church? Is it friends, or the style of service that he doesn't like? Could he go to a service that young people like? That is, a different style? He'll become increasingly independent in the next couple of years.

Yes, he will, for better or worse. My brother and I still spend a lot of time with our family, but we do our own thing from time to time. My parents are adjusting. ;) But my mom often comments about she doesn't particularly like it. But I'm not leaving home any time in the near future, so I think that's a bit of consolation. :D

I think it is him spreading his wings. He has said there is not a problem with his faith. But his disobience to this rule on church causes us, er me, to pull back more.

Examples from today:
He got a jacket: you can't do anything to that $25 jacket like you did to the last $8 jacket. (patches, paint, etc.)

"Are you doing anything with those new jeans?" "I didn't plan to.." "Your mom and i will talk about that too." They were $30 and I want to be on the same page with Becky.

Behaviour seems to have financial consequences, etc. I took his cell phone this morning. Unbeknownst to him because his mother was talking to him about gettnig out of bed and he was crawled up in bed like a ball.

It is a TracFone and I just bought him minutes nine days ago and he has used 2/3 already.

All of this probably because he questions if discipline will have any impact on his behaviour. No it may not but giving him free reign with no consequence is not what I'm going to do.

Here's Becky. Gotta go. She brought the other, younger boy, to a leadership meeting at church.

I'm sure it is. It's a tough time. I never went through an "I-don't-want-to-go-to-church" phase, but I know a lot of people who have. And I'm sure that and everything else is pretty discouraging for you as a parent. Having no kids myself, I can't exactly relate. But I've learned a lot from my perspective as a child and how the things I and my brothers have done affected my parents. It's a tough job. And I greatly admire parents. Especially those who take their responsibility seriously.

Morning all. I'm on creche today at church, and Marie is away so I'm doing it by myself. I wonder if a substitute has been found. Probably not. :(

My mate Bill and I chat for ages outside church and one of our Elders took notice again last week, so Bill tells me. We're thinking of either blowing kises across the church or getting matching blow up dolls for church, to stir. :P And yes, he's a friend, nothing more.

Our Pastor was stood down two years ago. I aked Tony before Creche if he had a final response to his re-application. Tony said he couldn't say more at present, but it was all good, and gave me a broad smile. Just read it in the bulletin - an Information Meeting on 10th November, then a Special Church Meeting on Monday24th November to vote on the motion that he be appointed our Pastor for 2 years, commencing 1st December, 20008.

How wonderful - except for the football comments and jokes. :P We've had a two year break from them.
