Want to know what some of your favorite Christian musicians like to eat on the road? Check out this article from The Tennessean (http://www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/ article?AID=/20080721/TUNEIN03/80721026/ 1005/ENTERTAINMENT).

Question of the Week: Road food?

LUCAS HENDRICKSON • for Tune in Music City • July 21, 2008

Even with skyrocketing gasoline prices, summertime is still prime time for getting out of the house and onto the highway, picking a destination and pointing the vehicle at it.

And a time-honored tradition of the midsummer road trip? Food that ain’t nothin’ but bad for you.

We asked a gaggle of Christian music’s finest this Question Of The Week: What's your favorite snack food that you only eat on the road?

While we wonder how honest (with both us and himself) The Myriad’s Jeremy Edwardson was being when he simply responded “Wheat Thins,” many of those polled embraced their junk-food opportunities with vigor.

“My favorite snack on the road is, without doubt, Doritos,” says Aaron Greer Band namesake Aaron Greer. “My wife doesn't like me buying junk food at home, so that's why I only have them on the road.”

DecembeRadio guitarist/vocalist Eric Miker has a surefire cure for his late-night road funk, one we’re sure Brad Paisley would heartily endorse.

“I'd say my road snack of choice would have to be a chocolate Hershey bar with almonds,” Miker says. “There are many times where you fall asleep on the road and wake up with the worst taste in your mouth, so if you stop to fuel up and the station is open... chocolate bar it is!”

33Miles guitarist Chris Lockwood also takes the sweet-tooth route, but subscribes heartily to the musician's credo of “free food tastes better.”

“Any kind of candy that gets put in the green room,” Lockwood says. “I typically don't go out of my way to purchase candy on my own because I'll easily become overly addicted to it.”

Lockwood’s bandmate in 33Miles, keyboardist Collin Stoddard, takes the savory route, preferring “Munchies, that combination of Doritos, Cheez-Its, Sun Chips and Pretzels,” while Fee guitarist Matt Adkins checks in with “cheese dip and chips.”

Songwriter Jeremy Camp, who’s apparently fond of answering bizarre questions like this, weighs in that “after a long day and a long set, there's nothing more satisfying than sitting on the bus with a big bowl of Cocoa Pebbles.”

And, hearkening back to a simpler age, vocalist Kim Gravel from Beloved finds comfort in a old-school combo of caffeine and legumes.

“Peanuts and Coke...and yes, I pour the peanuts in the Coke bottle,” Gravel says. “I learned that one from working on my grandma's farm when I was little and I still love it.”

That's yummy, but I haven't had it in a long time. Now I want some.

Wow - never heard of the Peanuts and coke deal. May have to try that someday.

So where are the quotes from David, Mac, Mark and Tai? I'm sure Mark could tell them about his favorite chocolate of the moment. What about which color Skittles each band member likes? ;)

I can't imagine what I would eat like on the road. I wonder if I would have any self-discipline, or if I would just throw self-discipline out the window....
