Alrighty then... who is watching other than moi?
Anyone else think last night's episode played out exactly as it should have? http://www.thirdday.com/boards/images/icons/icon14.gif

I watched! I watched! Here's what I typed in an email to a bud that also watches:
"What did you think? There are always 2 types that start right from the start... the kind of guys who thump their chest and play too hard from day 1 and the girls who are just bimbos.
Of course I want to root for Jerry, but I didn't think he needed to feel the girls boobs to see if they were real. That lost points for me. I also didn't like it when Dan said he'd just go to confession for anything dirty he did in the game. I like Ollie and the dude who rides rodeo, can't think of his name. Brian wants to be Will and there will never be another Will. Renny is nuts. Libra makes me wonder what kind of woman leaves her 5 month old babies to be on tv. The others are still kind of a mystery. "
I think I'm gonna love this summer!

I laughed out loud when Memphis called himself a mixologist. Seriously? I think he and the hooters girl might hit it off. Renny is a little nuts, and Jessie is totally in love with himself. Does he ever take his huge arms out of the crossed behind the head position? Paleeeeeze! That was what I got out of last night. I did take a liking to Ollie. If I had to pick a favorite right now I'd say him, just cause he seems more middle-of-the road, and may actually try to play as honestly as is possible. But it's only the first episode. I'm sure my thoughts will change...except for the Renny is crazy one. That one is a keeper.

Bwahahahah! What a GREAT turn of events last night. There are actually some SMART women in that house this time. Except for blondie, who actually teared up over the fact that Ollie didn't tell her anything about his alliance with the other two guys. Doh!
I hope Jerry did what he did because he SAW that that's what needed to happen and not because he felt pressured by rest of the house to do it.
Heh heh heh... Yeah Brian, you said you'd take care of everything, take care of THAT, why don't you! ;) :D
Loved it.

That was perhaps the smartest thing I've ever seen done on BB. A coup. All the while, Brian was sitting outside all smug. That was awesome. I'm not sure why he thought telling people "THAT is how it's gonna go down" was going to work for getting people to do his will. He has a future in management, I think. ;) But I am not thrilled to have to listen to Renny and watch Jessie flex his muscles for another week. I'm still liking Ollie, even if he IS playing "blondie", cause he was smart enough to think that whole coup thing up!

Classic BB last night. Loved it! I think Jerry was a little miffed at first, not at Brian but at everyone telling him what he had to do. He's not as strong of a player as he thinks he is. I really wanted to like him, and I do, but not as much as I thought I would.
Renny is insane... and just for that reason, I hope she stays! Jessie would marry himself if he could!
I love Ollie and I'm kind of liking Libra after last night... even if she did leave 5 month old twins at home to be on tv. Did you hear her reference to Brian trying to be Dr Will? Did I not say the same thing earlier in this thread? MAN I should go on this show!
Can't wait for tonight. I can't wait to watch Brian try and turn it around for himself. Too funny. Mr Cocky could be the first one out the door!

Buh-BYE, Brian! Don't let the door hit you on the @$$ on the way out! :D SO satisfying to have someone that you really wanted to see out NOT wrangle a way into staying at the last minute and actually LEAVE. (Like the Four Horsemen a few seasons back, everyone KNEW they needed to leave, but they kept staying and staying and staying, we almost stopped watching the show that season because of it.)
They scared me though, with all that talk about keeping Brian in because he was "fun". His nefarious plan to do that, and try to split up the girls, nearly worked.
His puppet show idea WAS cute though. LOL.
At least it sounded like the girls came up to Jerry and got him to understand that it really WAS the best thing to put Brian up, not because the house MADE him do it, but because it needed to be done.

While I am not a fan of Brian at all, I have to say he went out with class. No name-calling or fussing. He was outsmarted, and he admitted that, and he actually had a little fun before he left. Kudos to him for that. There is nothing worse than a sore loser. I think that little knock to his self-perception was good for him. He just might be easier to get along with in the real world. I hope so.

I totally agree. I thought he was really classy last night. Even in his speech he just reminded everyone that it's a game and not to take it so personally. Renny's speech on the other hand was so disjointed I don't even know what she said. That gal is NUTS!
Jessie is going to be a nazi HOH. He is so in love with himself it's unbelievable. I didn't realize till they were standing there for the HOH that he's only about
5'4". TOO FUNNY!!! The man has a Napoleon complex. That explains alot!
I'm not even sure WHO I like at this point! They're all annoying right now! Actually I guess right now I like Angie and Stephen. But we all know how that changes as the show progresses.

I noticed how disproportioned his head is to his chest and arms. I'm not a fan of big muscles anyway, but this guy has gone way off the deep end with his physique. He will be a mess as HOH.
I guess I am pulling for Stephen, since he has made the least ruckus in the house. It might work to his advantage to have not been a part of the coup. No one can say he betrayed anyone. But they might choose to say, "you aren't willing to show you are in with the group, so you go." I also like how he's playing it cool with his secret. I can't stand when they bring in someone a little different (gay or whatever else) and they play that up to the nines. Gay or not, I'm sure there is more to him than just that, and I'm glad he chooses to let people reach their own conclusions about him without any pre-conceived notions.

Heh heh. No kidding. He's subtle to the point where when they were talking about him last night, I kept going "Stephen? Who the heck is Stephen!?!" Finally figured out he was the rodeo guy.
He's got to be careful though, play it TOO quiet, and if you make it to the end, you get accused of riding on peoples' coattails and letting everyone else do your dirty work.

Stephen seems to have made some redneck comments about Libra being "colored" and Julie's "slanted eyes". That pretty much seals his fate with me! This was on a blog from someone who watches the Showtime After Hours show.
If he said it then his true colors will come out soon. The whole rainbow of them. ;)

:D Good one.
I'd be very curious as to the context of how he said those things. You're right, if he's racist, being in such close quarters for so long, it WILL come out eventually. But if he didn't mean anything derogatory by them, if that's just the way he talks, I'd be inclined to not hold that against him.

Wow, gay and racist normally do not go together. I guess it's ok to be prejudiced based on skin color, but not sex pref. I miss a lot by not watching that extra stuff and reading those blogs. If that's true, then I'm not sure who I'm pulling for. I hope there is someone I can like, or I'll have to give it up. I can't really invest a bunch of time in a show that's going to make someone I can't stand rich & (semi)famous. Of course, I have said for years, I would never in a million years go on that show. I consider myself a decent person, but I feel certain if someone was following me around with a camera 24/7 I could be made to look like a monster. We all say and do things we are not proud of, but most of the time it's in front of people who love us and accept us, warts & all. I can not imagine presenting that to the general public.

I noticed that! The first thing that came to my mind was that he sounded like Eddie Haskell on Leave It To Beaver, ie: "Gee, Mrs. Cleaver, YOU sure look nice today!" :P
He had a bit of a dim bulb moment last night, I noticed. He said something along the lines of how he was wracking his brain trying to figure out who had spilled the beans on their alliance. Umm... well, your alliance has three people. If YOU didn't do it, and Brian was the one that had it done TO him, who does that leave? Not all THAT hard to figure out, if you ask me.

Does that not happen every reality show? You sit at home thinking how stupid people are for not getting certain people out? Everyone acts so scared of the power team they don't do anything! My favorite classic moment in BB was when Jase realized his enemy had a twin! He was gone very soon! Most sickening was Survivor All-Stars watching Rob and Amber mastermind the entire game!
So I am just now catching up on one of my favorite threads for this time of year and I don't know how to multi-quote. Bare with me!

Ok, I am also a view watcher. I haven't read the blogs and everything either so I also don't know the context of his comments. But, I wonder if he is talking like some people think they should be able to use the "n" word? Just a thought. I am certainly not defending him, just repeatily noting that usually gay people are not prejudice.

Jessie has chicken legs. That and his height are where the insecurity that fuels his bravado must come from. Right now I like Dan and Angie. That may change as the show progresses, but right now they're the most sane. I like Jerry but not as much as I thought I would. Do you guys remember Rudy from the 1st season of Survivor? Oh yeah, wasn't it Keesha? That's good, she had a bit of a target on her back after trying to keep Steven in the house this past week, so it's good that she's safe for another week. She just needs to play the game smart this week and not offend too many people so they won't be gunnin' for her next week.
Can't get used to the fact that the show is on Sundays, Tuesdays, and WEDNESDAYs this time. Wonder why they took it off of Thursdays? But it feels like you get hit with three episodes, just boom boom boom, and then nothing for the rest of the week. It's a good thing they rehash prior shows so much, it comes in handy on Sunday to try and remember where they left off back on Tuesday.
Anyone else wonder what the heck is in Big Brother Slop that puts people on a liquid diet the week they're supposed to be Slopping it? What did Libra say she's lost just in one week's time? Something like 10 pounds? Gotta get ME some of that stuff. :D

It DOES sound like oatmeal, if the folks at Slim-Fast got a hold of it. Their stuff is essentially edible (just don't SMELL the shakes! ), but it's got this vitaminy-minerally aftertaste to it, probably the result of all the healthy stuff like the stuff that's between the parentheses in the Slop ingredients.

Last night's BB was CLASSIC! What a great episode! Was Jessie losing his mind or what? Good for Keesha for sticking to her plan. I really hope Angie is able to sway the house her way. This would be a great time to get Jessie out.... they might not get this chance again. He's already won 3 competitions. If the next few hoh and pov's are physical challenges he'll win again.
And what about Memphis blowing up at Jerry. Jerry was wrong to say that and Memphis could have handled it SO much better. But then that wouldn't make very good tv would it? I was surprised that Jerry sat there so calmly after watching him blow up at Libra during the last conflict.
And how funny that they all laid there too long! My thought was that I would have sang a whole cd in my head, that's about 45 minutes. I have Revelation in my head all the time anyway.... I could have put that to good use!

Big Brother is my one "guilty pleasure/check your brain at the door" show during the summer.
It's completely useless, the marshmallow fluff of TV, and while I don't go so far as signing up for the 24 hour feed (three hours a week, minus commercials, of those people is MORE than ample for me), watching them try to outplay, outwit, and outlast each other (I know, wrong show) is a generally entertaining way to spend a few hours each week. And I love their competitions, the producers come up with some pretty clever things for the houseguest to compete in.
Would I miss it if it got canceled and was never brought back? Nope.
But watching to see who is going to stay loyal to whom, and who is going to double cross whom, it's just interesting to watch how people tick (or in some cases, *tick tick tick KABOOM!* when personalities clash :P ) in such close quarters like that.
Even my MOTHER watches it, and she generally won't go near reality shows like this.
But different strokes for different folks. Whole lotta shows out there I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole either. :)

Nope. Love it and wish I could go on it! But you are completely entitled to your opinion. In this case it's called the remote control! ;-)

Why does it have to be edifying? It amuses me. It's like watching humans in a fish bowl. I've watched nearly every episode since season 2. Somethings you just do for fun.

Because we're supposed to do all to the glory of God. At least that's what my Bible says.

My thoughts exactly, Sandy. Humans in a fish bowl. Good analogy.
And I've actually been watching it the same length of time as you. :) Didn't watch season one, but came in on season 2 just to see what all the fuss was about, and then just stuck with it. Got my mother hooked on it by season 3. :D

How is watching anything on TV (unless it's EWTN or something like that) glorifying God? Or going to the movies? Or reading the comics? Playing Sims2 on a computer? Skateboarding? Reading books?
Unless I'm missing something, God apparently gave us the ability to amuse ourselves while we live our lives, and it just works out that for some of us, watching humans interact in a fishbowl IS amusing. :)

Nope just expressing honest opinions about hate crime laws and people that are intolerant of anyone who has an opinion that is different from theirs. There were no sour grapes and I certainly didn't follow you into threads to poke you with a stick. How is that glorifying God?

Hate is bad. ;)
Question though - if you don't like the show and get disgusted every time you hear it mentioned, why visit the thread?
I know there are alot of threads I stay out of because I don't like the discussions or topic going on.

Let's go back to my first question. Watching shows on television. Is THAT glorifying God? We both watch Heroes. I don't see that as glorifying God, I see that as entertainment.
Big Brother is just entertainment of a different sort. You just don't happen to LIKE that kind of entertainment. That's fine. :)
And not everyone stabs someone in the back on Big Brother. Some people actually make promises and stick with them, all the way through to the end. And one of the interesting parts about Big Brother is watching them interact and seeing exactly who keeps their word and who doesn't.
I didn't follow you either. I hate this show and get disgusted every time I hear it mentioned.
Solution? Don't watch it, and don't read the thread. I frequently get disgusted by some of the comments in the current events threads, so as a rule, I just don't go there. Problem solved.

I noticed that they moved it back to Thursday. Wonder what the scoop was on that.
I SO hope they get rid of Jessie. He's so full of himself, and IS a tough competitor. Whereas *and I just blanked on the name* the gal who is up with him, I actually like her, although I don't think she's been playing a particularly smart game so far. She seems like she's kind of flailing around by herself.
But yeah, I'd definitely like to see Jessie go.

Angie is her name. Yes, I like her too. It's hard to tell what kind of game some of them are playing as not everyone gets equal airtime. They've hardly shown Reny at all lately, or Ollie. I went and voted all my 10 votes for Renny to be America's player. LOL. I think she'd be a riot! Or Dan. I actually really like Dan. He has totally stuck to his values and I'm sure the students at the Catholic school he teaches at will be proud of how he's handling himself. Gotta love the cross on display! Not so sure that Ollie's preacher dad is gonna be thrilled that he's spending more time on his showmance than playing the game.
In the last 2 seasons there has been more of an emphasis on the faith of some of the players than ever before. They even showed Stephen reading his bible before he got booted.

I really thought Reny was gonna pull off the hoh! Good for her that she outlasted Jessie and Memphis. So how sweet is it that April put up Jessie????? Is it even possible that a group of people could be so stupid 2 weeks in a row and NOT evict him? Probably. I really hope he digs himself a hole this week that he can't get out of!

Yes, that's another thing I am not liking. I think it started last season with the "bullying" of people into a unanimous vote. That takes all the suspense out of the voting episode. I wish they could do something about that.

LOVED last night's episode! Oh the drama! I was so happy Jessie didn't win POV. I was a little surprised that Libra didn't take the letter from home. Michelle was furious over the unitard..... a little over the top if you ask me.
If they don't vote out Jessie, this will go down as the stupidest cast of BB ever. In fact, if they don't vote him out I may start rooting for him to win the whole thing. Just to highlight how stupid it was not to get rid of him. That kid is the biggest punk ever to be on the show.

I loved the "enthusiasm" with which they managed to sing Happy Birthday to Keesha! Poor girl, what a way to spend your birthday, stuck in with that bunch of loony-toons.
What I wish had happened with the PoV competition... Jerry should have left Jessie holding the veto, then when Libra got the unitard, she then could have swapped it for the veto, and then Jessie would have been stuck wearing the unitard. Now THAT would have been a sight. :P I kind of feel for Michelle though, although, as second one out, with a really nice prize, she should have been surprised if she HAD gotten to keep it. But yeah, her reaction was definitely just bad sportsmanship.
But yeah, Jessie REALLY needs to go this week. He should have gone LAST week, but Keesha was so focused on getting Angie out, she lost sight of the big picture. Think of how much nicer things would have been in the house during the last week had Jessie gotten the boot when he was supposed to. That whole squabble that aired last night? Gone! And Keesha could have actually had a HAPPY birthday. LOL.
I'm with you though, if they don't get him out, they deserve everything they get, I'll probably side with him too, just to see him maneuver everyone else out before him.

Do you guys see a bunch of CHAIN LINK alliances? It seems like everyone is connected and no one is really solid. It's like they have some dotted lines drawn. That definately makes for better tv, I am not complaining.
I so hope Jessie goes, he is the DEVIL! Little man syndrome, that is what he has! I don't have a problem with Memphis at all, but I never know if the regular show is so edited that you can't see the real problems.
I think Jerry couldn't risk not getting the veto. People can be pretty selfish, you never know what they are going to pick. For instance, I thought April would have gotten it just to make sure they would go but she chose money.
Did you see how much enthusiasm Jessie had about getting a letter from home? Considering his HOH room did show that much family it it, BOOM! You better love your Mama! Yeah, I don't even know what I am saying. I am going to try again for sleep after the Chik Fil A campout.

Have we really not had an update in over a week? :D
Let's see... so Jessie's gone. Yay.
Michelle won HOH, put up Libra and Keesha for their parts in booting out Jessie. Jerry won PoV, left the nominations as is, and Libra got the boot.
Then Renny won HOH to start the NEW week, and after much hemming and hawing trying to figure out who to put up, after contemplating putting up one of them and a pawn initially, finally opted to put up April and Jerry. What was so hard about putting up THOSE two? It was a real NO brainer if you ask me.
Food competition was gross. It was Rock, Scissors, Paper in Big Brother style. They made it Slop, Pigs Ears, Crickets instead. *urp!* And Jerry ends up on slop for yet ANOTHER week (although America game them giant Lollypops to suplement their slop intake). LOL.
Okay that about sums it up. Can I get a show of hands who else wants to see APRIL go this week? "I don't know WHY, I'm such a nice person!" she essentially said in the diary room. DOH!

Was I the only one deeply disturbed by Renny's complete come-apart at the sight of her parent's photos. WOW! She's way the other side of sane. I'm assuming her parents have been deceased for a while, not like in the last week or so. I feel guilty. I should not judge anyone else's grief, but WOW, that was a whole lot of yelling and wimpering. I only half watch anymore, mostly to see what kinda crazy Renny will whip out, and hoping they will show some more of Memphis, so I can decide if he's worth pulling for. I could care less about the rest of them. The girl drama in the house this year is off-the-charts!

I thought it was a little whacko myself! The 2 best parts of the night.... Dan saying grace before he ate the crickets and the music from the Godfather (Speak Softly Love) playing while Reny and Michelle were talking in the HOH room. HILARIOUS!
I would almost be willing to put up with April for another week to get rid of Jerry. He's ridiculous. I was SO hoping he'd be cool like Rudy from Survivor but he's been a real let down.
Can't wait to see who wins the POV! (If you read ahead like some people, please don't tell me!)

Yeah, Renny nearly lost it when she saw the photos of her parents. But remember, emotions are already sky high in that house, so it probably wouldn't have taken much to set her off. And apparently being that close to her mother, seeing her picture was probably just too much for her. And think of how over the top she was when she first came into the house, before she got smart and toned things down, she really was a major drama queen.
LOL, I'd forgotten about Dan saying grace over the crickets, that WAS too funny. As was each time Jerry *urp*ed while he was eating his bowl of slop, I nearly upchucked just watching HIM nearly upchuck.
I can tolerate Jerry more than I can tolerate April, who I've disliked since the very first BB10 episode. I really have a hard time seeing what Ollie sees in her. I definitely don't see them staying together after the show is over. I bet his parents throw a conniption every time they hop into bed together.
Oh and speaking of which, what IS it with Jerry always following them around? First while they were talking on the couch, and then he followed them into the bedroom. Creepy.
Oh and what about the former season houseguests doing that food competition last week, when Brian was the host. I'd forgotten about that. That was pretty good, except for the fact that they brought back Janelle and Jen, I really had enough of both of them their first time around.

Mike Boogie looked like he had run a marathon from the pit stains he was sporting, and he was throwing his hands up, clapping & whatnot. That made me chuckle. Also, when they introduced Janelle, and Ollie gave her a standing ovation, the camera immediately cut to April. If looks could kill, they'd have both been dead. That made me laugh. And Jerry hittin on Janelle was a little creepy, too. He's way too flirty!

Ha ha I thought the same thing about Boogie (who I never cared for). And the Ollie thing was hilarious. It's like they're an old married couple even though they've only known each other a couple of weeks.
