This'll probably be a DVD rental, unless Doug is interested in catching it at the theater... don't know if he was an X-Files fan though...

I wish I could go see it on release weekend, but thanks to Dave Ramsey and the need to buy a ring, I'm on a tight budget and had to choose this months movie to be the Dark Knight.

I'll wait for the DVD as I only saw the first few seasons (also on DVD).

I saw this last night. Some general non-spoiler observations:
1. The movie was not terribly "X-files-y." I'm not sure who the intended audience of it was, but I think it would mostly appeal those interested in the whole Mulder/Scully relationship. I think they should have sent back for a better screenplay.
2. Scully has apparently gone from being a pathologist to being a family care practitioner to being a neurologist. I know she's smart, but neurological procedures?
3. I found it amusing that even in their private lives, they still call each other Mulder and Scully, not Fox and Dana.

I'm glad my 16 y.o. ended up at The Dark Knight again rather than seeing this as a review said THIS FILM FEATURES GRAPHIC VIOLENCE AND LEWD SEXUAL CONTENT. I'm not screaming but just pasting from http://www.pluggedinonline.com

That's what the review in the local paper said, that there wasn't really a lot of the original "X-Files" in the new "X-Files" movie. A couple of the main characters are there, but a lot of the secondary characters that helped make the series what it was are NOT. The reviewer wasn't particularly impressed with it.
Doug isn't all that into seeing it, so looks like it WILL be a DVD rental from Netflix later...

I told my friend who is another hard-core X-phile to just wait for the DVD too. Too bad, though. I was really excited as the movie started since there hasn't been a new episode in about 8 years. I was underwhelmed as the credits were rolling.
