This has got to be the ultimate Independence Day story. Tonight in Philadelphia, actors who portray Ben Franklin and Betsy Ross (for a living) are getting married at City Hall. Working near Independence Hall in Philadelphia, I see Ben Franklin walking about town often. He's a very believeable character. He's always in period costume and if you ask him a question, he will answer as if it were 1776 today. Besty Ross stays at the Besty Ross house, a few blocks from Independence Hall. A great story!

Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter is scheduled to officiate at the wedding of Ralph Archbold, aka Benjamin Franklin, and Linda Wilde, aka Betsy Ross, on July 3 outside City Hall.

The colonial impersonators and their wedding party will be clad in period costumes.

"The two even had wedding bands complete with a kite, key, lightning bolt and a "wonderful" flag crafted for them by jeweler Henry David to commemorate the special occasion," WKYW-TV reports.

He is very believable. I listened to him tell a story for a while when we visited Philadelphia.

yes he is. I have seen him many times. Many businesses and conventions hire him when they are in Philly. He charges $250 / hour for his character services. I have a great story about him and Alan Greenspan that I know firsthand. Maybe I'll share it later.
