I was wondering, with brad moving on to other things whether the guys have thought of mixing up the stage set up - maybe have Tai up at stage right, Mark at Stage left, Dave at Stage centre and Mac up the back.......ok, maybe that wouldn't work, but any thoughts on mixing it up a bit? Oh and Scotty back right or something! ......Sorry Scotty, forgot to include you in the initial post!

Mark is in Brad's old spot and Tai is in Mark's.

the drummer centre stage hey...ya know I reckon that could start a war amongst bands around the world if they did that! I can see it now - 'Drummers strike over stage center position'

Wouldn't happen - drummers generally aren't clever enough - they can only count to 4 (the really clever ones can count to 6!) ;)

its really a keyboard/piano that is the heart of the music anyway...I think scotty should get center stage then!

No, no .. it's the lyricist. So Mac is where he belongs.

Close but no cigar.... it's the VOCALIST that deserves center stage... always.

PS.... drummers can actually count to at least 12. Many songs end up in 12/8time.

Mac's ok either way. But lyricists rock.

Do they, Jason? :P

I think Mac should play drums and David can come to the front and sing and play guitar. ;)

hehe maybe we can convince them to give it a go when they come out in 2010!!

back to the realms of sanity....oh who am I kidding, I've never been there haha!
...it'll be weird seeing Mark on the other side of the stage and Tai up front but as they say, a change is as good as a holiday!!!

Actually it's mostly a sound issue. While Mark and Tai switching up might not make *much* of a difference, you always want to separate instruments as far as possible. Thus, you want to keep the bass and guitar away from each other on opposite sides of the stage (otherwise you risk lots of feedback or sound loss or a number of things). You also want to keep the drums in back because it's easier to control the volume back there. Keyboards can similarly bleed out of mix if they're close to the bass or guitar so you move that back as far away from either (I.E. roughly a triangle). The vocalist gets front and center, because... well... he just does. :D

And there, my friend, is a crash course in sound mixing.
