Not that any one will probably know who I am talking about, but Glenn McGrath, former Aussie fast bowler's wife passed away from a long battle with cancer yesterday aged 42.
Jane first found a lump in her breast in the late 90's, beat that cancer, had two children only to have the cancer return in her hip and more recently, spreading to other parts of her body.
Jane and Glenn set up the McGrath cancer foundation many years ago which offers financial and emotional support for families of cancer sufferers, the work of the foundation with continue as a memorial to Jane.
Jane and Glenn have two young children James and Holly.
Very sad.....It always gets me the most when there are children.....:(

McGrath is one of the top names in Aussie cricket, correct?
Sad.

He Was actually top in world cricket - he retired last year (I think, time flies, could've been the year before), to support Jane during the third cancer battle - a brain tumour.

I was quite shocked and saddened by Jane's death. She was such a fighter and a great campaigner for combatting breast cancer. Glenn too, is a great example of what a husband should be like. He clearly always put his wife before his cricket.
It was also nice to see the NRL organise a minute silence in the football. A real sign of respect from a completely different form of sport. I was impressed.
Also, in Australia's upcoming match against the West Indies the Aussies are going to be playing with pink bat handles as a mark of respect.

Terrible...a beautiful woman and wife gone. The poor man must be devastated...
Reminds me of Neil Peart from RUSH...lost his 19 yr old daughter and wife all in the same yr...within 10 months. Daughter to a car accident and wife to cancer.
No wonder he took a year off to bike around the continent of Africa...

Col: I agree with your sentiments. I also liked the fact that the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition gave their condolences in Parliament.
Glenn and Jane McGrath certainly fought this together. It reminds me of the sadness Australians felt when Belinda Emmett died, after her battle with cancer, and how sad we felt for Rove's loss.
