Well, I have been studying to get my driving permit for a couple months and after reading the handbook about 5 times I finally turned old enough to go get it. So today we went to take the test and I only got one wrong (you fail if you miss 6) and I was able to drive some on the way home, and we went on a drive again this evening. I am doing pretty good so far (if I do say so myself) but I have a little trouble driving a little too close to the shoulder, and of course it will take me a while to get the hand of maintaining the correct speed and such. I think my mom was just about as nervous as I was, on the way home we pulled over so I could drive on the highway, and I was beginning if she was ever going to give me the "O.K." to pull out on the highway.
One thing I thought was strange though is that it seemed like most of the other kids there taking the test hadnt even studied for it. There was only one other kid that passed while we was there. They let you take it again in 10 minutes if you fail it (only three tests per day).
But anyway, I just thought id share that with you guys.
BTW, please pray for my safety as a new driver.;)

Congrats on getting your licence! I remember the first time I went to get my Provisional licence. I failed...... for speeding in a school zone..... twice.
All the best for the future!

It is 14 here. Our son may get his soon. That will force the 16 y.o. to start driving with his parents - or he may never get his license.

hey! Kudos for you!
I get mine next week!
I am so pumped.
I could have gotten mine back in March but I didn't want to have to drive with my parents for a whole year so I figured i would wait a while and just drive for 6 months and then on my birthday go in and get that beautiful license! :)

Jump good luck. And thank the Lord I don't live anywhere near you ;) :P

I've been playing for about a year and a half too. I'm a fairly good guitarist, considering how long I've played, and considering we moved about 10 months ago and now I dont have anybody to teach me, so I have to teach myself. I have a keyboard, but I havent named it, I dont play it that much either.

I learned about 50% of what I know from a guy that we used to go to church with, but like I said, Ive had to teach myself the rest. I didn't know that many of the more advanced chords until here recently. Some websites I like to use to look up chords are:
all-guitar-chords.com (www.all-guitar-chords.com)
chordbook.com (www.chordbook.com/guitarchords.php)
....in case you ever need 'em :)

They do hurt every once in a while though. How do you practice? What things do you do. I mostly just play songs over and over until I can get used to the chord change really well. I am competent with rythm but I am dreading learning lead that will take forever. Youtubers make great guitar teachers hahaha thats how I learn I sit in front of youtube.
I have learned these songs so far
Wonderful Tonight(I play this one decently)
Suspicious Minds(still hacking away at it its very difficult)
Hotel California
an overly symplystic rythem version of Hey Joe
I can also get by on Today I Started Lovin You Again

Great choice of song/intro to learn!
The legendary Reggie Young is the man who originally played the intro/fills for "Suspicious Minds" on Scotty Moore's blonde Super 400 Gibson. If I'm not mistaken the intro is a combination of 'pick & finger' technique. James Burton is also a good picker to try to learn the break from and he also does some very simple 'fills' during the song in live performances with Elvis. The '69 live versions are the best versions by Elvis---the other later versions are 'sped up' and I feel that this 'takes away' from the song. IMO, Elvis was already getting bored with the song by the time he returned to Vegas in February, 1970.
James also uses a pick/finger technique on the intro as well. I've mastered it fairly well. There might be some tabs (although probably incorrect) for the intro on the web.
If ya ever wanna 'talk guitars' shoot me an IM on AIM, dude!

truthfully, I have no idea what any of those song are lol
but when I find a song I wanna play I go to several different websites and print out chords and tabbs and play them till it sounds right.
I'm also in a worship band so my job is to find new songs, learn them, and then teach them lol
lead guitar, also not my thing..
i usually play acoustic which some how is easier for me and when i do play my electric i rock out and go crazy lol

Whenever I want to learn a new song, I usually go to e-chords.com (sometimes ultimateguitar.com). And play it over and over until I have it memorized. The thing I like about e-chords is that you can look at a diagram of each chord, but on the downside you have to pay a membership fee to be able to access all the features.

Do you have a membership to it? And if so is it worth the money? I was thinking about joining it, but now that I spent a good deal of money on Cardinals tickets I probably wont. I might sometime in the future though.
