I love it!!! I also love the single drumbeats in the beginning. It's like it's demanding your attention cause the song you are about to hear is UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Yes it does, if you look at my post about my 8 yr old leaving some "love" for the guys. I posted a pic of him listening to otheside on my laptop with headphones again and again and again. Then he spontaneously wrote the band a note and asked me to "give it to them". He's hooked! Very cool!

Yes, but do you know what type of audio ripper you have? Also, how did you get all the songs off the album on the streaming page?

I used Audacity, you just record What U Hear, you can record any type of streaming audio that way.

Okay, I downloaded Audacity on my PC, but I don't know how to import the streaming page of Revelation into the program. Can you help me?

All you have to do is make sure the recording is set on "What U Hear" and then just hit record as soon as the music starts. If you start too early or end too fast or too late, you can go back and highlight those parts and easily cut them out after you're finished recording.

David, does he need the lame.dll so he can export as an mp3?

Well, if a mod is getting into this discussion, I guess this whole train of thought is okay then? ;)

He could always just export as a WAV file once he's got it captured. Don't you get better quality that way vs exporting out as an mp3?

I just asked a question. ;)

But if one has already paid for the CD, I personally see no problem with it, unless one is sharing with others.

Yes, better quality as a WAV but a) I didn't know if iPods accept WAV files and b) that would be a huge file.

It's in a little pull-down menu next to the mic volume near the top. Put it on that, hit record, and then start the streaming music.

Note: Turn off other sounds your computer may make such as e-mail alerts.

And don't surf. If your computer makes noise when links are clicked, like mine does, it'll pick that up too.

I must have an earlier version of Audacity, I don't have a What U Hear selection in that drop down box, I think mine says WAV OUT or some such thing.

I found that tab but it only says "microphone" and "Stereo Mix." Is this the right tab or not? I also checked the tab beside the microphone icon and it wasn't there either. Could you provide me with a little more info on which tab I'm to look on?

Which version do you have?

Stereo Mix works fine. He would need lame for mp3 exporting. Ipod converts to its own format so wav should be fine for that.

Gomer Boy
06-11-2008, 12:28 PM
I have the older version, not Beta.

clemsontigers23
06-11-2008, 12:29 PM
Yes, you need lame.dll but it's easy to find and download, just save it somewhere you can find it easy and then when Audacity tells you to find it just do that and that's the only time you have to do it.

You must have an older version

The drop-down menu is right under where the record and play buttons are, it says

Auxiliary
S/PDIF-In
Line-In
Microphone
What U Hear

I have version 1.2.6 (not Beta), you should have it but if you don't, just go ahead and download the latest version and you should be able to find it. I hope this helps.

I agree with Jason, I gave $25 bucks so I think it's fine lol.

I've been wanting to do that, so I can rock out with the new record on my iPod at work. I was just going to make one big fat MP3 of the whole album, but I haven't had time to be bothered with it yet. Plus, I'm kind of a noob at playing with Audacity.

As far as the legality of doing so, I say it's fair use to copy it for your own personal use. Some of the RIAA Mafia would say otherwise, however...

RealPlayer is the easiest to use. Just play the stream and a "button" pops up that says "Download this clip". Click on it, and it is automatically saved as an mp3 file. You just have to do it for each song. Very simple.;)

Well, if this is apparently okay now ;) , is it safe to own up to the fact that I've been listening to Revelation in the car since I preordered the CD the first weekend after it was available? :o (If not, just pretend you didn't see this.)

It's the one and only CD that was able to get me off my U2 kick, which I'd been on since seeing U23D in January.

If the button ever doesn't pop up, just right-click and download should appear on the menu as an option.

Or you can be like middletree, me, and many others and immediately remove any Real software from your PC because it's bloated with Adware.

Hey! If you have Firefox, just install this: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3006.
Then download the original MP3s in succession. Click on the spinny thing and it will popup a window showing the available downloads. Start with #1 and download each song as soon as it starts. Then you get the original MP3s.

Never was able to get that to work with any of the streaming stuff. Still haven't tried it with my laptop though, there's a lot of stuff that works on my laptop that won't work on my desktop, something about one having SP2 installed and one with just SP1.

I listened to it yesterday evening on headphones while walking. Wow, you can really hear the guitars! I meant to have my son listen to it when I got back in the house and forgot. I'll have to have him listen to it today.
