I use windows Internet Explorer, today, for some reason, every time I open a new window - such as if someone has a link to some other site in a thread, when I close that window I get the 'Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close' message and it shuts me totally down.
The only thing I can think of is I loaded software for a new printer last night, could this be doing it??
Could be. Do you use Windows XP (or Vista)? You could try the System Restore option, which will "roll back" system files to a previous state but which won't affect your documents.

Here's the solution: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/ ;)
As for your question, I can't really see printer files doing anything to Internet Explorer. So, I would suggest either the link above or what Sam suggested.

Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore
Choose "Restore my computer to an earlier time"

I've seen programmers do all sorts of silly things. Especially HP drivers. Totally nuts. Not sure why kind of printer she's using though.

Thanks Jason, I have just done that and it seems to have fixed the issue.

However, it has uninstalled the HP software - which I wondered if that would happen (remember, I am not a computer geek!), so I've just reinstalled it again - however this time I chose the option for what bits I deemed necessary - I didn't select anything to do with web support, purchasing products or other stuff that I know I won't use. Don't know if that will make any difference, yet to test it out...... hang on I will see.......
Yay! It is not doing it! Woohoo, may just have been a coincidence in the first place I guess.

Cool. I'm glad Sam and I could help.
I do some computer consulting in my "spare" time and one of my client's has an HP printer. The driver DOWNLOAD is something like 135 megabytes and it is buggy as all get-out.
