There is plenty of humour , like in all indy movies , and when i saw the year the movie is set i thought 1957 , that is the year my brother in law was born in a year before my older sister his wife , my nephew's mum .

If you can relate the content of the new movie to one of the old trilogy, which one is it the most like? I mean so far as creepy crawlies, scary images, and such. I like the first and last Indiana, but Temple of Doom kind of creeped me out. I just want to be prepared before I go see the movie.

Very good question. I hope its a mixture of all three. With emphasis on the last one. Crusade was my favorite. Raiders is my next fave. Temple of Doom was pretty good though.
I hope the Chemistry between Shiya and Harrison is as strong as it was between
Harrison and Sean. If it is we are in for a treat!

Yeah, I agree. The Last Crusade is probably my favorite Indy movie, and one reason was because of Ford and Connery's comical chemistry together. Even in tense seens you find youself laughing. I hope that Kingdom of the crystal skull has a similar feel, but with a new duo and story. I can't wait to see it.

Hmmmm.... While it is decidly Indi, it is different than the other three. You can really see how these went from being 1930's serials, to being more like the 1950's B Movies.
I really liked it... and I think it would be great if "Mutt" took on the fedora and the bullwhip from Dad for a fith outing...

like before i go to work, or shower, or shave, or call my mum, or watch tv?
God isnt a third grade teacher. I dont need to ask him if i can get up and sharpen my pencil.

It is a 1950's B movie, as the Origional three were 30's Adventure Serials....

does it have alot of scary, creepy stuff in it? As you may be able to tell, I don't like creepy crawlies and frightening stuff. :)

Oh ok. I can handle that stuff. As long as its not spiders I'm cool. Or bloody stuff and people eating gross stuff like Temple of Doom

I went to see it today, and I liked it, and would recommend it...
"Spoilers below"
I think it is more like "Raiders". I liked Cate Blanchette in her role, but most of the time I was thinking "Oh my gosh, it's Galadriel"! The Mutt question is answered as well, no surprise...
Never got throug the Temple of Doom, couldn't stand that screaming blond or the little kid shouting about Indy cheating at something or another. Plus they were eating gross food of some kind... I turned it off.
Loved "Last Crusade", it is still my favorite, but 4 comes close. I wish Sean Connery would have been in it, their chemistry was great!
Anyway, A big thumbs up from me.

I loved it. I have high hopes for future Indy films. Loved the chemistry with Harrson & Shia. I can see Shia wearing the fedora and pulling it off very nicely!

Possible spoilers...
I must be the only one who saw this film that was disappointed with it. I mean, I enjoyed it very much but it was too...easy. Indy found what he was looking for too easily. There was no challenge for him. I also think they let Lucas have too much control. It was a bit like 10,000 BC meets National Treasure meets Independence day. I was also irritated at the death defying. Indy has cheated death in a lot of the movies but at least those were plausible. THREE waterfalls? Seriously. At least TRY to make it believable.
*sigh* I guess I'm just a purist. I will go see it again however.

At least TRY to make it believable.
Dude, Raiders had life sucking demons fly out of the Ark of the Covenant and suck the life out of everyone with their eyes open...
Temple of doom had some guy who with little force could insert his hand in his victims chest and pull out his heart...
And don't even get me started about the plausibility of the redicious boat chase in Last Crusade....
These movies are always a bit of a stretch, and it's that stretch that makes them great!

Point taken, and I agree...
However, the waterfall deal just left me going "Come on!" There's no way they could've survived that. Especially when just a few seconds before a bunch of the bad guys died...from falling off a cliff. They fall off a cliff in a car and then go over three waterfalls and are none the worse for wear.
Don't get me wrong, it was cool. Just that one sequence irks me. :D

Well yeah that too but at least they showed that one little sign on the inside of the fridge door that said lead lined! :P my amusement over that sign overrode my irritation! ;)

One of my favorite scenes in the movie was when Mutt threw the snake out to Indy for him to grab ahold of it so that he could be pulled out of the mud.
That was probably one of the funniest scenes in the movie for me. As well as a classic Indy scene.
Another classic Indy scene was when Indy and Marion were arguing in the back of the truck when they distracted the guard and iNDY KICKED HIM

I thought that scene was hilarious. The one geeky kid chooses that time to ask a question about class. Indy: "If you want to be a good archaeologist, you need to GET OUT OF THE LIBRARY!!"

I thought that line was great, consideing in last Crusade they have to go through a library to find the knight's tomb!

And why did they need to have the TV on, with the sprinklers, et. al? I totally called the ark of the covenant, though. And I got a little excited when I heard the Bhagavad Gita quote, vis a vis Oppenheimer reference. But I'm just nerdy like that. :D

I don't think they were even caricatures of Communists. They were just caricatures of thugs with Russian accents!

That's right , Those communists in the former soviet union are just making a mountain out of an ant hill
Weren't those red ants remarkable , I have read about them but seeing them in the movie doing their devouring of everything i won't want to be in the rainforest when those critters are around .

Man...missed this...juist made another post about it. before it gets zapped...here were my thoughts:
Saw it this past week....
Superb job by Lucas and Spielberg......
5 out of 5 stars
Indy is older and wiser but still the same Indy we love. Without giving too much away, the film takes place in the 50s and the Russian Communists are the bad guys. Kate is a PERFECT, beautiful, mean and nasty bad guy Russian commie...
Its got allt he great absurd action sequences and character interactions and character arcs. Plenty of old faces show up and its a great storyline...
Loved it !!!!
