Mac, Silk and Spot are thriving. More adventurous every day. They're wild now, like their mamma. I think I started too late trying to socialize them to people. If my dad were alive he could do it. A regular "cat whisperer" he was. Veronica, KittyBoy's sister, keeps bringing her kittens back to my house and hides them under my steps. There are two left, and they seem fairly healthy. They have their eyes open now. My neighbor promises she will get Veronica fixed as soon as the babies are weaned. I mean, her babies never survive. It's almost like, IMO, animal abuse putting her through failed pregnancy after failed pregnancy. I'm big on spaying and neutering. I'm getting the triplets' mamma fixed as soon as I can catch her. My vet says he'll loan me a trap. Don't worry, it's very safe and humane!

My neighborhood used to be a nice place to live, but not now. The gang bangers have the section 8 housing, and the trailer park belongs to the working girls, drug dealers and meth cookers. The Mobile cops just did a major sweep, so it's settled down some. We really need a police precinct out here.

Wow. not cool. when i lived with my sis halfway between knoxville and chattanooga the tiny town had cleaned up a bit. use to be a major drug town. the neighbors had the cops there a lot but at least they were nice. they were quiet unless there was a brawl! good shows - use to watch from window!

I've been at the Republican Headquarters 70% of the time. Yesterday I left the house at 10 am and went to HQ. I was there till 3:30 and then I went home for like 5 minutes and left again for the tailgate party. The party lasted till 7 but I was given a ticket to the game so I went to that straight after. So I got home after the game around 11 pm.

The rest of the week I'm at HQ for 4-5 hours a day before and after classes or running around, doing something with the Republican party........ So yeah.

Today in preschoolers church it was great not too many children and we are getting set for christmas since today in the craft time i had to help the tots make stars for the christmas trees and we even had the nativity set out too .

Their first solid meal left us all totally covered in cat food. I smell like an old loon king. Must have shower.

Me too. The babies seem better this morning. The adult food I'm feeding them is not appropriate, it will upset their stomachs. Need to go to the pet store and get replacement milk and some transitional foods. Simpler protiens, easier to digest. But they have a better grasp of eating out of a dish today, less mess.

Kittens not doing well tonight. Very weak, won't eat. The littlest one may not make the night. Oh, well, raising kittens is a crapshoot at best. A more pragmatic soul would have let nature take its course, but I'm incapable of letting something starve. Had to try.

The littlest one died just a minute ago. I just managed to get the other one to take 10 ml. of formula, and have him on a heating pad for comfort. I called a friend of mine who's a vet and he says it sounds like fading kitten syndrome, and that maybe mama cat knew what she was doing when she stopped feeding them. My success rate at raising kittens stands at about 50/50, which I'm told isn't bad.

Sorry to hear about the kittens, Beth, they looked quite healthy! But I have been down that road and I simply cannot handle it.

They did look healthy. Fading kitten syndrome has a very rapid onset, and once you see symtoms, it's really too late to do much except provide comfort measures. I knew I had to stay detached or it would break my heart.

Trying to keep him warm as he's been sick. Was in the hospital over the weekend with bronchitis, and seeing as how medicaid won't approve his antibiotics, may have to be readmitted tomorrow. Ooh, I'm so mad at medicaid I could just spit nails.

Because they're a bunch of beurocrats that know nothing about medicine making medical decisions. He's already on another antibiotics to prevent bladder infections as his little bladder doesn't empty properly. But it isn't the appropriate antibiotic for his lung infection. All medicaid sees is that he's on two antibiotics, so they dissalow the second one. We fought the same battle over his seizure meds -- he's on three different seizure meds -- and needs all three to control his seizures. Maddening.

Hard to understand they don't realize one drug is not a cure-all and that often a combo is needed. how is he?

Nope, needs antibiotics bad. Likely will stay for a couple or three days and get his cipro iv. Weird how medicaid will let him have the stuff in the hospital. It's a matter of math, folks. It's cheaper to treat him at home, just give us what he needs, but nooooo...

Wrap masking tape or duct tape several times around your hand sticky side out and just pat the cat hair off your clothes. Frequent combing (of the CAT, silly) helps too.
