Soooo... I think Third Day should just steal Robert Randolph. For those of you that have no heard him live yet he is amazing, and he sounds amazing on Otherside. So I vote that he should just become a permanent member of the band... haha. Anyways though... I also wanted to introduce myself... my name is Calvin... I am a frequent reader on the boards and long time Third Day fan, but now just got around to posting.

unfortunately this computer does not have sound capabilities as of right now so I cant really watch. But I did see one of his music videos on the gospel music channel this morning. To be honest I didnt get it. But that is just one music video. So maybe my opinion will change. Can someone tell me what genre of music you would consider him?

I'd never heard of Robert Randolph and the Family Band before this tour. I've probably heard them on the radio, but never heard credits so don't know anything the do. I'm a CD-junkie, and don't listen to radio as much.
I'll need to look them up.
Just checked out the youtube video....sweet!!!!

They don't really play them on the radio much, either. I hate to make this comparison, but they're kinda like the Grateful Dead, in that they are a jam band, and have a devoted following, without much radio play, but TONS of pure funk, talent and energy.

Thanks for posting that. Man, that dude's fingers really move. Hope I'm not at the 3D merch table when he's playing.

Apples and oranges. The point of touring together is that you can come enjoy all the bands on one stage. East Coast to West Coast, it don't matter!

We have always enjoyed whoever 3D has chosen to tour with and I'm sure this will be no exception! See you in Raleigh!

The only thing I've heard of Robert Randolph is the song he did with Sawyer Brown, "Mission Temple Fireworks Stand." It's quite hard to refrain from getting up and dancing when that song is on. :D

I love Randolph on that song, but I prefer the Paul Thorn version to the Sawyer Brown. Thorn actually wrote the song.

It's a foot-stomping, hand clapping good time, that's for sure. I wish Mac would sing it this tour, but I'm sure with all the bands, there won't be much time for those collaborative deals.

I didn't know that.
But I do think I like the Sawyer Brown/Robert Randolph version better...seems a little more upbeat to me...plus I like Sawyer Brown a lot.

I feel the need to explain to all the Randolph virgins, the last sentence is a quote from "Ain't Nothing Wrong With That" by RRFB.

I heard them opening for someone (I think it was the Black Crowes?) a few years ago and they were really good. :D We loved that Robert rocked the slide guitar while singing.

I saw Robert open for the Black Crowes a few years back and he rocks.....He will get your feet moving.....His music has a positive message.....On his Colorblind cd he does 'Jesus is just alright" by the Doobie Brothers.....He comes from a gospel background, but his sound now is more blues and r&b.....It will a great day of music and worship....God bless....

That was the same thought that came to my mind... being a former Dead Head from the 70s, hearing RR brings a bit of that old jammin' funk back to the surface. I'm ready to dance!

because i've experienced my share of unfair treatment by some of the moderators and it gets annoying.

Yeah, but this thread was more than a "little" off-topic. There were probably also some taste issues involved. That was one of the strangest things I've seen on this site.
