If you look in the book of Daniel you'll read about the dulcimer. I am in a dulcimer group and we play the mountain dulcimer, but there are other instruments. Like the psaltery, the hammer dulcimer, a harmonica, an evo harp, and an indian flute. It is so neat to play an instrument that is mentioned in the Bible, just curious to see how many have heard of it.

Sure I've heard of the dulcimer! Some friends of mine used to play the mountain dulcimer and I know a guy who plays hammered. I always think of Rich Mullins when I think of the hammered dulcimer though.

I have heard of dulcimers - I always associate them with Elizabethan poetry - I have an album somewhere with some on.

I used to be able to play the hammered dulcimer a little. My grandma taught me a little bit when I was 12 or 13, I'm not sure if I'd remember anything now.

We've got several CDs here at the house with hammered dulcimers on them. :)

Didn't Rich play for some of those tracks?

Yes I have heard of the dulcimer. In fact, the town I live in holds a Dulcimer Festival every summer. Here's the link: http://gwdf.org/

Glad to see the dulcimer is still popular. I had no idea that Third Day used it in there early albums! Which album was it?

I used to play the 4 stinged dulcimer. They're beautiful.

My dad built one for my mom one year for her birthday. It took him months.

Sounds like Third Day may have used a bit of Dulcimer on "Praise Song" right at the beginning in the opening sequence. The rest sounds a bit like a honky-tonk piano.

I've played the dulcimer on our keyboard - it has a lifelike dulcimer sound in the percussion section.

I love the dulcimer and agree that I will always think of Rich Mullins and the hammered dulcimer, especially when I hear The Color Green.

That's a really cool moment from the self-titled album. It must've been awesome for the guys as well to have Rich play with them!

Calling Out Your Name is my favorite Rich dulcimer song. Actually, it's my favorite song period.

The Color Green really appealed to me as I am from MI and there are so many greens here in the spring. You really don't think that way of a color normally, but to just drive along with all the trees, bushes, grasses, etc, it becomes apparent that God loved his work! But I love Rich Mullins, just about everything - Screen door on a submarine! Have you read his books?

This is the first I've ever heard of a dulcimer.
