Well, the Toddy is a coffee maker not an actual coffee. You can use whatever coffee you want. Its really just a great way to extract the acid, which is good for me since I have stomach/digestive issues. It really adds to the flavor. My BFF is sending me a free pound of Stabucks coffee since she works there lol.

I right likes me some coffee berry berry much. Current love of my life is Folgers Black Silk. Will to live in a cup. Finest organic suspension known to mankind (quoting Captain Cathryn Janeway, Star Trek Voyager. I could get along with this woman, I think). Please, Mr. Fuzz sir, don't kill our thread. I've said it before, I'll say it again.. If they took a blood sample, put it in a small cup... They could call it a short black! I donate blood... And have to go a few days without before hand!

I really like a brew made in a tiny seaside village Robe, here in South Australia, called Mahalia Coffee... Mmm...

There is nothing in the world to equal the pure joy of an expertly prepared cappuccino.

Starbucks is much overrated. Many local coffee places make better tasting coffee by far. I hear from those who had the privilege of tasting early Starbucks that it was much better back in the day. The consensus among those folks is that the massive amount of expansion and corporatization has led to a fall in quality of their product.

I'm cheap, so I make coffee at home most of the time...

And...coffee added to dark chocolate bars is, like, brilliant.

I love the smell, can't stand the taste. I also don't drink tea of any sort. However, my support alone keeps Diet Pepsi afloat. Especially when you have it on the top shelf on the fridge, and it has little crystals in it. mmmm. I will only patronize certain establishments based on their Diet Pepsi mix. :D

Seriously? I donate regularly, and they never say I shouldn't drink coffee before hand. Good thing too, since I get headaches if I don't get my coffee by 11am every day, I probably wouldn't be donating nearly as much.

*the one who drinks vacuum packed Great Value decaf from Wally World hopes his camouflage is working*

Don't think we've ever tried Wally World's coffee, but do sometimes get the grocery store brand. Usually just get it cheap when it's on sale from CostCo, though.

There's a place by campus called Common Grounds... Their coffee makes me very, very happy. (esp. since it got me through two all-nighters to write my music history paper!)

Reminds me of the coffee place on "Friends": "Central Perk". I always thought that was cute.

After I try rattlesnake maybe.

Starbucks isn't coffee, it's a beverage - now for real coffee come to Thailand we have many different types - I like Doi Chang coffee, and Nacha - Nacha is organic and really yummy - Wawee is too strong and makes me dance and giggle and leap around - 94 is ok - loads of coffee here!!!!

I have to confess though that at Christmas time I do enjoy going to Starbucks and have a special Christmas, creamy coffee type thing to drink - it's my treat cos it costs heaps compared to other coffee - mostly though I'm a tea drinker...

Yes nurse betty lu, you have and that is great, now let me see here in new zealand we have a coffee company called Greggs and they make this strong smelling coffee that they call the red ribbon roast .

And if you have a fair trade store see what type of coffee they have there from other countries since we have a trade aid store here and they have this coffee from south america and it is tastes better than store brought coffee so i have been told.

if i search out some new zealand coffee company websites this week i will post them here for you.

Hate Charyucks. They burn their beans. Dunkin Donuts is pretty good. Love Folgers Black Silk. Two best cups of coffee in the known universe: At the Tom Thumb station in Stapleton, AL at the intersection of US 59 and state 31, and the Grand Casino in Biloxi, MS. The Grand uses pure Kona, grinds every pot fresh, and makes a fresh pot every fifteen minutes. If they closed down the casino and just opened up a coffee shop, I'd still go.

I just gave away three pots of Folgers - Cinnamon, Vanilla and Hazelnut - they all smelled wonderful and the Hazelnut one I tried was yummy, but we freaked out when some got on our fingers and the smell of the flavouring stayed ALL day - what kind of chemical is that??? Anyway it was given to us and now we have given it away...

Nicodemus drinks 3 in 1 - which is Nescafe instant mixed with sugar and creamer - just pour on hot water! He likes it - but I don't think it's what you REAL coffee drinkers would call coffee...

Kevin drinks organic Arabica grown in the hills of Thailand and freshly roasted, then he grinds it for his cup and puts it through his little expresso maker... guess that's real coffee! :)

Actually coffee is very bad for the stomach if you drink too much. The acidity content can eat at your lining. This is why I am buying the Toddy Coffee Maker (http://www.toddycafe.com). It takes out 65% of the acid in coffee. I need to if I want to continue drinking coffee, I already have gastro issues lol.

Use a dedicated spoon that goes nowhere but the sugar bowl. Tragedy here -- the coffee filter collapsed and there are grounds all in the whole pot. *sob* Another solution to the coffee-in-the-sugar dilemma -- use sugar cubes and tongs. Also very elegant.

Coffee? did someone say coffee ? I have two recipes for the coffee fans here .

Recipe 1

Coffee Bread Pudding

Serves 8-10

4 cups day old french bread cubes
2 Tbsp. brandy or maple syrup
1/4 cup raisins
2 cups light cream (if using thick cream, thin with milk)
2 cups milk
1/2 cup strong coffee
6 eggs, at room temperature
1/3 cup butter or margarine, softened
3/4 cup sugar

Preheat oven to 170oC. Place bread cubes in baking pan. Dry in oven for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and set aside. In small bowl, pour brandy or syrup over raisins, set aside. In medium saucepan, heat cream, milk and coffee to scald. Meanwhile, in mixing bowl, beat eggs with butter. Gradually add sugar, beating until smooth. Stir in brandy or syrup with raisins. Gradually stir in scaled milk mixture. Pour over bread in pan and let stand for 45 minutes. Preheat oven to 170oC. Bake 1 hour or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Serve warm or chilled.

Recipe 2

Tiramisu

This is the classic recipe for Tiramisu purists, no rum, no crunchy bits, no fruit, just pure, light texture and lingering flavour. People are often shocked by the few ingredients of this recipe. After seeing thousands of strange Tiramisu variations with so many unnecessary components, what is actually a traditional classic becomes again very refreshing in its perfect simplicity.

500g Mascarpone cheese
500ml heavy cream
6 eggs
200g sugar
lady fingers or dry sponge cake
coco powder, extra bitter
250ml freshly brewed espresso

Whip mascarpone, cream, eggs and sugar together on medium speed setting till thick, cut sponge to the shape of the serving container then dip in espresso, layer into serving container with mascarpone, mixing alternating layers of sponge and mascarpone. The top layer in mascarpone dusted with coco powder.

Enjoy my coffee loving friends.

I will search for a coffee cake recipe too.

Coffee is one of those things -- generally speaking, you get what you pay for. However, I have been exposed to some really awful really expensive coffee in my life. Also on the eww list is anything with chicory in it.

I dont know about chicory, but I probably won't try it now. I personally don't like the new S'bucks blend a bit.
