Might not be on much longer, this stewpid cold is really kicking my butt. Rats. Tea is gone. I'd make another cup, but that was all the honey.

04-22-2009, 03:58 PM
Well, say goodnight and go rest! Be sure you get in some honey. I have to decide if I want my coffee hot or iced tonight.

NurseBettyLu
04-22-2009, 04:04 PM
If it were me, that would be hot, very soothing for the throat. Nighty-night!

Night, Beth. Sleep well and am praying tomorrow you feel a lot better. I believe I will have hot tonight as well. I'm not really in the mood for a cold drink.

Now I make sure there's a backup supply of both.
I had crackers and peanut butter earlier. Eventually I just said, screw the crackers and ate the peanut butter. It made me think of you. ;)

04-23-2009, 07:28 AM
IMO, the only PROPER way to eat peanut butter is with a spoon stuck in the jar!

After hearing we did NOT win as artist of the year :( (what a rip off), I am having mudslide coffee tonight.

NurseBettyLu
04-23-2009, 03:26 PM
I sure need something stronger than tea. *pouts*

04-23-2009, 03:28 PM
Well, come on up and we'll both do mudslide coffee or perhaps just the Bailey's. What a crummy night.

The performances were outstanding, however. I'm sure they will be on YouTube before too long. I shall download them with RealPlayer, and have them on my hard drive for future enjoyment.

I thought Brandon Heath did a nice job. he has a lovely voice.

jesus loves me
04-23-2009, 03:41 PM
I checked him out on YouTube tonight. Voice is nice, music is boring. I'm just too into Skynyrd and the Black Crowes perhaps. Will be making my drowning my sorrows mudslide iced tonight.

NurseBettyLu
04-23-2009, 03:48 PM
Sounds tasty, think I'll make mine a nice tall Nyquil.

jesus loves me
04-23-2009, 03:51 PM
I must admit, my mudslide coffee sounds better than your tall Nyquil. Are you doing any better today?

NurseBettyLu

I was okay till I tried to go grocery shopping. Short of breath and cough alot, this too shall pass.

Did you get any coffee in you at all today? I always worry when you can't drink it. Makes me think you're heading for Glory.

NurseBettyLu

A cup of silk this am, au natural. Unusual for me to drink it black, but dairy always makes my congestion worse.

jesus loves me
04-23-2009, 04:13 PM
Ok, I feel better knowing you had some silk. I know, dairy is bad when you have anything like that. Checked the store again and still no Silk on the shelf:(

NurseBettyLu
04-23-2009, 04:15 PM
Not good. Not good at all.

jesus loves me
04-23-2009, 04:17 PM
I still haven't gone to their website to see if there's any news about it such as they are no longer going to make it. When it's hard to get at different stores in suburbia, that's worrisome to say the least.

NurseBettyLu
04-23-2009, 04:21 PM
I haven't heard anything like that. It's still readily available down here.

jesus loves me
04-23-2009, 04:24 PM
The south ALWAYS has more variety and more stuff than the north. When we were in Nashville it was grocery nirvana.

NurseBettyLu
04-23-2009, 04:39 PM
You belong down here. Wal-Mart is less than three miles from my house, and I go every week. Winn-Dixie is within an easy walk. And Jimmy Lowe's is produce heaven. And the seafood man parks in his parking lot and sells the bounty of the whole Gulf of Mexico from the back of his pickup truck. He's there every Thursday and Friday. But don't tell anybody, sneak out real quiet-like. If word gets out in them northern parts, we'll be inundated.

jesus loves me
04-23-2009, 04:43 PM
My lips are sealed. Yeah, I'd be right happy there. I can sneak out REAL easy. With cell phones no one would even know I was gone!:D

Sounds like a plan to me. I want shrimp tomorrow, by the way. I have to go soon. Still need to make mudslide coffee and my shaking is bad today so I have to take more clonopin. Then I totally space out.

NurseBettyLu
04-23-2009, 04:58 PM
I need to go as well. I'm wheezing, need albuterol. Hate albuterol, makes my heart race. Starting mucinex tomorrow. I hate being sick. 3-11 tomorrow, might be here late.

jesus loves me
04-23-2009, 05:03 PM
I use albuterol as well when I get sick or when a chemical sets off asthma. I have asthma only when I come into contact with certain chemicals. That thankfully doesn't affect my heart (surprise). Not sure about me tomorrow late. See my best friend early Sat. am. This time he's going to show me how to use an I-Tunes card to download Skynyrd and to do whatever it is I need to do on the 3D dvd. See ya when I see ya!

Thanks. I lost i-Tunes once more and reinstalled it without panic. Even downloaded another Skynyrd song in the process. Need coffee hot tonight. The temp went from 68 to 48 in 2 hours. Still some rain and more to come.

NurseBettyLu
04-25-2009, 03:44 PM
Coffeeing up for tonight. The coffee helps my chest, too. Makes sense, as albuterol metabolizes into mega-caffeine. Any time your chest is congested, up your intake of strong, black coffee and see if it doesn't help.

jesus loves me
04-25-2009, 03:47 PM
Black, as in NO creamer, No sugar? I have old albuterol thankfully, my sis says the new stuff is harder to use.

NurseBettyLu
04-25-2009, 03:51 PM
Sugar, maybe. Dairy makes secretions thicker and harder to clear, so it couteracts what you're trying to do with the coffee.

jesus loves me
04-25-2009, 03:54 PM
I knew about dairy but isn't creamer NON-dairy?

NurseBettyLu
04-25-2009, 03:57 PM
I don't know...Maybe I'll run an experiment and see. I'll let you know.

Made "Starbucks" cookies. Took chocolate chip cookie recipe (half batch for just me) added macadamia nuts and then poured in a package of Starbucks "Via' Italian Roast. As their instant coffee is really microground coffee beans, it dissolved in the dough easy. That was THE best raw cookie dough and the cookies are terrific too!:D

Drinking more nasty tea. Tastes like feet smell. But it makes me stop coughing.I don't know if I could do that no matter how bad I felt! TWO cans of Black Silk appeared on the shelf and I got one. Same price on sale as Wal-Mart's regular price. I went to Folger's website and they don't even list it sold in my zip code.

Just seen this on the internet

What to do with those used coffee grounds;

A Cup of Joe Goes a Long Way

You’d be surprised at just how many different methods have worked for people:

Touch up furniture and other wood scratches with grounds and a Q-tip.
Sprinkle around areas where pesky insects, slugs and snails dwell to drive them away.
Mix with soil as a natural fertilizer for plants.
Dye clothing or paper.
Rub into your dog as an organic flea dip.
Fill old nylons and hang in your closet or fridge to repel odors.
Use to fill old pin cushions.
Scrub away grease and grime from pots and pans.
Throw on ashes before cleaning out the fireplace to reduce dust from spreading.
Feed to worms to help with your garden.
Rub on your hands to eliminate odors.

And my favorite!
Mix ¼ grinds with one egg white and massage onto face like a mud pack.

I believe I hear my new Starbucks mug calling, "try me!". Have to go soon. The new form of my heart drug may be working better than the old but it seems to make me tired ( one of the side effects)

NurseBettyLu
05-03-2009, 04:15 PM
Most side efeccts tend to diminish as your body adjusts to a new drug, be patient. In the meantime, coffee up. You'll feel better. Caffeine will help raise your seratonin levels, thereby acting as a natural mood stabalizer. My tea is much improved as I have left out the respiratory herbs and added a little ginger to the sleepytime for my tum. Tum is already happier.

05-03-2009, 04:18 PM
Boy that tea worked fast! Glad you found something. I usually have to hope Altoids work! Are you working tomorrow?

NurseBettyLu
05-03-2009, 04:28 PM
Altoids are such a strong mint they probably will irritate an already angry stomach. Make a simple tea out of candied ginger, adjust the strength until the taste suits you. Will have to do a very long steep, at least five minutes. Especially good for a sour stomach or nausea. A real lifesaver for motion sickness, and I put every pregnant lady and chemo patient I know on it.

jesus loves me
05-03-2009, 04:35 PM
Thanks. I'm willing to give it a shot. I like ginger in things like that or baked goods and steeping is no problem. I have to go for the night. Hopefully tomorrow. My new mug is a 16 oz. and it's heavy to begin with so with the way I shake, my mac would be in danger of getting coffee in it.

I could have used a cup of that last night! That IS the opposite effect of coffee but does sound quite nice!
Alrighty, I'll keep that in mind when I get a hankerin' for tea and wrongheadedness! :P

You sold ME on it when I need tea that is soothing. VERY hard to get here - maybe because stores can't keep it on the shelf long and you have to be there when it's put out. I saw that no Black Silk again at my store but at least there's a tag for it.

If it's accurate, their English Almond Toffee is a short bus ride away. They also said the limited edition and seasonal could be hard to find - NO KIDDING!
