I have to go soon. will have some black silk with creamer(blech, tired of holiday stuff) and watch "jaws" again. i am watching it every night til the arctic air leaves.

NurseBettyLu
01-14-2009, 05:44 PM
Wow, I just started yawning like you wouldn't believe. Need a hot shower and a cup of tea, then my toasty bed.

jesus loves me
01-14-2009, 05:55 PM
I go for my java, get under the covers and wait for my shark. 'night, beth.

NurseBettyLu
01-15-2009, 03:49 PM
Black silk and sugar free shortbreads. Ahh...

jesus loves me
01-15-2009, 04:03 PM
Mine with starbucks frappucino for 'creamer" had to go out with garbage so ducked into one of the costly stores on ground level. it was either that or another pm with egg nog tasting java.

NurseBettyLu
01-15-2009, 04:15 PM
I so totally understand. There's only so much eggnog creamer one can reasonably be expected to drink.

jesus loves me
01-15-2009, 04:24 PM
I think i can walk to real store sat. it'll be a balmy 20 with more s**w. get h&h and vinegar for cleaning coffeemaker.

NurseBettyLu
01-15-2009, 04:37 PM
And extra evaporated milk for emergencies. And some Carr's crackers since you ate mine.

jesus loves me
01-15-2009, 04:40 PM
Oh! thanks for reminding me about the ev. milk. and, uh the carrs!

jesus loves me
01-16-2009, 03:57 PM
Starbucks frappucino an acceptable creamer substitute. still hope to get real h&h tomorrow. still have 3/4 bottle of holiday stuff i have to finish.

NurseBettyLu
01-16-2009, 04:29 PM
Found a new ice cream flavor at Wal-Mart. Mocha Mudslide! Oh, I got so excited! Couldn't wait to try it! Dished some up tonight and...EEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWW! !!!!!! Nothing like the drink.

jesus loves me
01-16-2009, 04:42 PM
How disappointing! if ya brave the cold (it's above zero now), i can get ya a black silk 'mudslide' and ghirardelli brownies.

NurseBettyLu
01-16-2009, 04:51 PM
Wow, shirt sleeve weather. I'm on my way. I think I found you the perfect mug, pic on the other thread, and check your pm's.

jesus loves me
01-16-2009, 05:00 PM
Got pm. thanks. check yours as well! my sis may be interested in it too. she has fibro and arthritis too. even w/0 carpal, the others make gripping hard.

NurseBettyLu
01-16-2009, 05:14 PM
KittyBoy just dragged the coffee grounds out of the trash, stuck his nose in them and sneezed heartily six or seven times. Evidently he does not share my taste for the silk.

jesus loves me
01-16-2009, 05:17 PM
Hahahaha! that'll teach him. did he make a huge mess?

NurseBettyLu
01-16-2009, 05:30 PM
Medium mess. Maybe this will break him of playing in the trash, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

jesus loves me
01-16-2009, 05:47 PM
Yeah. i had only one 'trash' cat. we had to hang the bag from the door handle finally.

NurseBettyLu
01-16-2009, 05:52 PM
I need a cup of tea.

jesus loves me
01-16-2009, 06:06 PM
Go make a cup. i'm actually going to buy honey and see about tea sometimes. good night, beth.

NurseBettyLu
01-16-2009, 06:13 PM
I'll have to check the middle eastern market out in midtown when I do errands and see if they have any interesting teas. I'll let you know.

Maybe Saturday day shift. Sweet baby, sweet family, desperately poor, but still made the nurse coffee. Mom says I have coffeepot priveleges whenever I'm there, but I shall be bringing my own from now on. Don't want to drain their already limited resources. She uses Folgers! As she put it, ain't no good buyin' some things cheap.

Come sunday 1st feb all the coffee fans at my church will be soaking in the coffee after the four week drought , i am seriously thinking and going to ask if we can have fair trade coffee since some people at my church are not aware of the modern day slavery in the coffee industry in the countries where coffee is produced

Speaking of Starbucks:

SEATTLE - Starbucks Corp said Wednesday that it would cut as many as 6,700 jobs as it closes hundreds more stores and eliminates more positions at its corporate headquarters.

Faced with slowing demand for lattes and cappuccinos because of the recession, Starbucks plans to close 300 stores, including 200 in the United States, and eliminate about 6,000 store jobs. The company also plans to eliminate about 700 corporate jobs, including about 350 at its corporate headquarters in Seattle.

Here's another free coffee alert:

You may have heard that Starbucks® is eliminating decaf coffee at-the-ready in the afternoons. We think that customers deserve the very best coffee, when, where and how they want it. So all Caribou Coffee locations will offer free 12-ounce cups of decaffeinated coffee from noon until closing this Friday, January 30.

I made a slight detour on my morning route Wednesday to take advantage of the free coffee at Panera Bread. OK, it was more than a little out of the way, but we are talking about free coffee here.

NurseBettyLu
01-29-2009, 03:23 PM
Yeah, I hit the Paners Bread deal yesterday. The best free coffee in the known universe? The Grand Casino in Biloxi, MS. As long as you are playing you drink free. I settle in at a nickel slot machine, and pretty soon here comes the waitress for my drink order. I get some odd looks when I don't order alchohol! But their coffee is pure Kona, they grind every pot fresh, and make a fresh pot every fifteen minutes. I sit there and drink coffee until I've lost a couple bucks, then I go eat at the buffet and have some more free coffee with my lunch. By time I leave I'm so buzzed I can't see straight.

Oh the coffee fans at my church at going to have their fave back on tap tomorrow i will just stick to water and diet coke and green tea , i am trying to ask for a change in the coffee since i want all the coffee fans at my church to realize that they should switch to fair trade coffee sure it may be a bit more expensive but it is much better especially with the modern day slavery in the coffee industry a good doco on this is black gold

Posting this for Beth since she always mentions how Starbucks burns their beans:

Eight O'Clock Coffee 100% Colombian at $6.28 per pound ranked No. 1 in Consumer Reports' tests of 19 ground coffees, besting Folgers, Maxwell House and Starbucks -- America's best-selling ground coffees.

A CR "Best Buy," Eight O'Clock costs less than half the price of Gloria Jean's, Peet's and other more expensive brands. CR's coffee experts deemed it a complex blend of earthy and fruity, with a bright, pleasing sourness -- a good thing in coffee parlance.

Starbucks Coffee Colombia Medium, $11.53 per pound, didn't place among the top regular coffees and trailed among decafs. While the regular was rated "good," testers said it had flaws such as burnt and bitter flavors, though milk and sugar may help.

Another feel good about drinking coffee story:

NEW YORK - In more good news for coffee lovers, a new study suggests that middle-aged adults who regularly drink a cup of java may have a lower risk of developing dementia later in life.

Whether coffee itself deserves the credit is not yet clear, but researchers say the findings at least suggest that coffee drinkers can enjoy that morning cup "in good conscience."

The study found that among 1,400 Finnish adults followed for 20 years, those who drank three to five cups of coffee per day in middle-age were two-thirds less likely than non-drinkers to develop dementia, including Alzheimer's disease.

Well, it started out on vacay with a friend. Tip: Never let anybody military make your travel arrangements for you. They think being conscious at 6am is normal. I drifted in to the airport lounge for a cuppa just to keep my heart beating long enough to get on the plane. Had a cup on the plane. Then another. And another. By the time I meet my friend in Memphis, I'm pretty far flown. I grab her elbow and drag her off to the nearest drinks kiosk. Me: ROXANNE! LET'S GET US A COFFEE!!!!!! She: Um, Beth, your eyes are vibrating...Finally, we board the plane to Detriot. Once we reach cruising altitude (I was already there) I raise my hand to summon the flight attendant. Roxanne gently pulls my hand out of the air, and whispers to the attendant, "My friend here will be having decaf..." I don't really remember the Detroit - Boston flight at all. I remember feeling pretty good till the shakes set in.
