Not sure how. After Smackdown I ended up on PBS.

My own sound bites :

Wright seems pretty nice when interviewed.

He is fire & brimstone when preaching. Some would say wacky.

Moyers loves kissing Wright's backside.

Moyers is UCC?

I meant to watch that, but didn't get around to it. I have no idea of Moyers' religious affiliate or even if he has one.

Note: Found this in an article:

Moyers, who describes himself as "neither wholly a believer nor wholly a skeptic,"

My guess is that he probably doesn't attend church anywhere.

THE MINISTRY

The Center for African Biblical Studies is AFRICAN-CENTERED...
seeking to implement and promote Bible Study from an African perspective.

WHY AFRICAN?

Because…“We are a congregation which is Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian...our roots in the Black religious experience and tradition are deep, lasting and permanent. We are an African people, and we remain “true to our native land”, the mother continent, the cradle of civilization. God has superintended our pilgrimage through the days of slavery, the days of segregation, and the long night of racism. It is God who gives us the strength and courage to continuously address injustice as a people, and as a congregation; and we constantly affirm our trust in God through the cultural expression of a Black worship service and ministries which address the Black community.”

From the Trinity United Church of Chicago's website. It is written just as it is seen on the site, no emphasis added by myself. Wright is a separatist and deserves to be treated as such. These doctrines were brought into his church by him and remain there even after his departure.

Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.

Paul is teaching about the danger of identifying your beliefs with a certain person or heritage. NOt that it is totally wrong, but that you have to be cautious when doing so. It is more important to identify with Christ than with a certain ethnic heritage. Wright seems to be walking very close to that line.
