I found this article on the gospel music channel website. Looks like they have a megahit with this one. I love the way the writer describes Mac's Voice--startlingly tender. I love that!:D

Longtime fans of the epic, rock sound of Third Day got their first taste of the band’s upcoming studio album Revelation (7/29/08) with the release of the project’s debut single, “Call My Name,” which became an instant smash hit at radio across the country.

“Call My Name” was an immediate add for 69 stations (52 AC, 17 CHR) from all over the country, including some of Christian radio’s key outlets, such as KLOVE, WAWZ - Star 99.1 New York City, WFSH - The Fish Atlanta, WLFJ - His Radio, WFFH - The Fish Nashville, KTIS - Minneapolis, KSBJ - Houston, KXOJ - Tulsa, KCMS - Spirit 105.3 Seattle, KFIS - The Fish Portland, and KDUV - Fresno/Visalia.

The driving guitars, the instantly familiar yet startlingly tender voice of Mac Powell, and the universal theme of reaching out to God in the midst of the everyday has touched a chord with listeners anxious for the return of Third Day to airwaves and concert stages alike.

“‘Call My Name’ is the best upbeat radio song from Third Day, ever,” says Bob Thornton from Tulsa’s, KXOJ. “I’d play it ten times an hour if I could!”

Shannon Steele of Fresno/Visalia’s KDUV, shares, “One of the greatest issues our listeners face is the feeling of isolation. ‘Call My Name’ is a song that conveys the message that we don’t have to walk through life alone. Beyond testing well, I’m sure this song will connect with our listener and offer a message that’s priceless.”

The single also debuted as an exclusive for-sale download on Amazonmp3.com and stormed to the No. 1 spot within its first few hours of availability, even passing Justin Timberlake and Madonna’s new single, “4 Minutes.”

The World Premiere performance of “Call My Name” is happening exclusively during the Dove Awards – only on Gospel Music Channel, LIVE Wednesday April 23rd starting at 8 pm eastern. Gospel Music Channel is available on DIRECTV Channel 338 and on cable – check local listings.

Third Day’s Revelation releases on July 29, followed by a summer of festival appearances and an ambitious fall tour schedule to be announced in coming weeks.

I've heard the single several times on our CCM station, New Life 91.9 and they mentioned the July release date for the CD. Glad to see this song is doing so well already!

Yeah, it's a big-time song. I'm sure that on the tour there has been major hands-over-head clapping towards the end of the song. Makes me pretty excited for the Revelation launch.

Anybody know if GMC is available on DISH Network?

I'm not sure. I'd go to their site and look at the channel line up. DirecTV only recently got GMC after they finally got tired of those weekly emails from me requesting it!:P

Exciting. Love the great stuff, ecspecially when it happens so very quickly.

Just think of it, this is only one song off a whole album fully loaded. Now that sounds like an album title someday for somebody "Fully Loaded".

Heard "Call My Name" for the 1st time on the radio today. (Already heard the song, of course, this was just the 1st time on the radio.) I almost got teary-eyed listening to it. I was just thinking of all the folks out there who were hearing it when I was, but it being their 1st time ever hearing it and thinking, "Man that is an awesome song!" I felt like a proud new papa!:P :D

I just checked DISH's packages, and GMC is not on any of them -- even the $98-a-month super-duper plan. It's reassuring to know, however, that I have The Jewelry Channel, Collectables and Treasures and Horseracing TV. C'mon, DISH, get your priorities in order!:(
