I really like John's books and have read many of them over and over to absorb the content.
I just started this new one and I noticed something and was wondering if anyone else has this happen to them. I really noticed this while reading Waking The Dead, and now again it is happening with this book.

My family I are SEVERELY attacked spiritually while I am engaging the book.

Someone does not want me or my wife to read these kinds of books.. wonder why? ;)

Our world as a family has been turn upside down the past month and seems to be getting worse. This is surely the battle and God is looking for me to really participate. It is not easy that is for sure.

Anytime you are doing something right, there has to be something come along to try and knock you off your horse. I have found the same thing, when I listened to The Bible Experience the New Testament. But I have also found exactly the opposite at times. When I am really learning from something that I am reading, I am rewarded. Just keep praying.

I got this book a few weeks ago (an advanced copy) and even started a thread here about it (see the one titled "Book recommendation"). I have liked what I read so far, but didn't have the experience you have. Still, it's about the importance of recognizing spiritual attacks, among other things, so it's not out of the question that someone might be experiencing this.

I need to give Eldredge another shot. Read that popular one a couple of years ago. Found some negative stuff about the premise on that book and ignored his writings since. Wild At Heart was the book.

Yeah a lot of people had problems with that book. I did not. In fact, God used it to do amazing things in my life, and in many men that I know, and those changes have lasted now, several years later, and yielded a lot of fruit.

At any rate, Walking with God is very, very different from previous Eldredge work.

We did a men's retreat with teachings based on it too.

Yeah I went to a boot camp 4 years ago. It was huge in its impact on me.

John's books have provided some of the encouragement I have needed to keep on keepin' on. I find many Christians (at least in my sphere of influence) are just not ready to accept the reality of spiritual warfare. Somedays, I think I am literally losing my mind and then I remind myself of Ephesians 6:12. Struggle creates strength. Our wings must be strengthened if we are to soar.

Be encouraged PaulieGomer, you are not alone in your spiritual battles... Today's sermon covered this very topic and I was taking notes like a madwoman! One of my notes says: Our greatest weapons in spiritual warfare are prayer and God's Word. Paul calls us to pray without ceasing, not to get what we want, but to capture the power of Heaven. I was so encouraged by the sermon today and I hope this reply has been of encouragement to you.

May you and your family be blessed by your faith and determination to fight the good fight!
