I'm not sure I like the REV2 folks. What do y'all think??
The other one is better for me. Just go to the bottom left of the main page and select your preferred color scheme.....now that is a cool thing. Having a color theme choice is cool.

Probably you like it 'cos it's quite manly looking. Mark (hubby) likes the new look too. He thinks it's like a car dashboard.
I dunno - I think I kinda can't stand it - not girly enough!!
Can we have some hearts and flowers please Weblackey?? LOL :D

I'll third that...I don't have good eyesight anyway and this just makes it all that much more difficult....No REV2 for me

Love it! Much better than the yellow. I can understand why some don't like it. I belong to a guitar message board where you could choose from three different color schemes in your user CP. Perhaps that would be a way to appeal to a broader crowd.
If not though, again, I love it the way it is.

We had the exact same issues the last time they changed the boards. I have every confidence that everything will get worked out. Btw, I kinda like the new look but, it is a wee bit hard to focus in on the words.

Hey, this is web lackey...just wanted to let you know that this change of color scheme is to have it fit in with the new look of the site launching April 23rd. We are focusing on having all things fit in really tight together for the first time.
I know that each time we change...we usually hear more bad feedback than good...but in time....people usually grow to like it more.
I am sorry for all who don't like it! We really want to please everyone! Hopefully everyone will have patience moving forward. I can say, we are very excited about the new stuff coming soon to the THIRD DAY FAITHFUL!
Thanks everyone!
where's the theme switch drop down menu?
At home on linux with my black themes this is great, but when on xp or at work......nopers
oh, and I looked in the user control panel and didn't find it either.....maybe I missed it?

The combination of the font size in combination with the color of the text and the background is a bit of a problem indeed. Increasing the font size may actually already be enough to solve this problem. Another solution would be to let people choose the old skin as an alternative, or would it really be such a big problem to install 2 skins at the same time?

Let me know if this works for you.

Oh yeah!! This is a cool new look!!! Totally rock and roll!!  Will admit the white is easier to read, so thanks for the option. I will probably switch back and forth. I hope I can get used to the black 'cuz it's the coolest!! This is definitely in line with the new look of Mark and Tai's blogs too. Everything is matching up and being uniform. Does this mean that the new Gomertopia is going to be styled in a similar fashion?? I can't wait to set up my own Gomer Page when that is up and running!!
Thank you Web Lackey, for all of your hard work!! :D :D Thanks Third Day for the gift of the Message Boards!! You guys spoil us rotten!! :D :D

Okay that blue font freaks me out. The page number on the right side, upper and lower, needs to be hilited.
Kudos to putting 'online' and 'offline' rather than having a green dot.
I'm staying with Rev2 and will probably forget white even exists.

Working for an eye doctor I have to agree that the REV2 theme is extremely hard on the eyes. The white option is much easier on the eye balls.

I clicked on 3D boards tab and went "hmmm... can't put my finger on it, but I think SOMETHING is different!" :P
I thought the new color scheme looked very cool.
For about 10 seconds, when it started to bother my eyes. I think it's the wee fonts. Someone said something about there being a place to change the font size? Where might that be, I didn't find it. Short of changing my entire screen resolution to 800x600 (down from 1280x960, where it usually sits) the fonts are just too tiny.
I DID find the "New Posts" option under the Search thing, though, which was good, since I'm like Jason, I use that a LOT.
No matter, though, since, while I may switch back occasionally, just to keep things interesting, I'll probably be sticking with the "white" option most of the time. Great to have a choice, Dale, my eyes thank you! :)
EDIT: plus I just realized that the white with the blue-grey trim of the boards coordinates very nicely with the blue kitty theme I use with Firefox. :) AND having the NEW POSTS button front and center at the top of the header works for me too.

I can hardly read it. I was reading some posts where the words (scripture passages) were written in blue--and forget it, I could not focus on it at all.
I think that part of the problem is that many posts were already on the boards when the shift was made to the new look. The color used for the post was fine until the shift was made, but with the black background it is no longer easy to read. The other problem I can see happening is that with some people using the white background option, when they choose a color, they will be choosing something that shows up good on white. But those who are using the black background may not find it easy to read. Maybe some of the color options should be deleted since some colors will not show up well on both backgrounds, or maybe there is some other way to help the situation. I will leave that to the techs who know much more than I!! (no smart comment from you Jason!!):P

WOW!! I'm digging the new look. But then, I agree with Corrine. I wasn't crazy about the Easter looking scheme we had. I joined during the green and black Wire boards. So, I'm used to the dark ones. I'm sure we will get used to this one. After the dark ones of Wire, it was weird switching to the lighter ones for Wherever You Are and Chronology. I like the fact that we have an option, though. Thanks, Dale. I think you did a great job! :)

The black is cool and everything, but, as others have stated it's a bit hard to read. Perhaps lightening the text color a wee bit would help. I do like it, though...very cool. And it makes me extremely happy that there is going to be consistency to the Third Day branding this go round. :D
Also, I like the fluid width of the layout for 1024x--- or less resolution. I know that the statistics say most users are at 1024x--- but I'm using 1280x1024 resolution. For me the width is a bit bothersome because the text stretches all the way across the screen, and makes it a bit harder to read and/or scan. I don't know how many others are using higher screen res, but it's something I thought I'd mention. I will probably get used to it, though.

And I think we'll get used to the low contrast of the print, too. Remember when the yellow and blue boards first came out? Most f us complained about the brightness of the color, and the low contrast of the posts. Both made the boards hard to read. But we all got used to it. I actually feel like the lower contrast text is easier to read.
For me, it's that the controls and everything look different. That is what will take some getting used to for me. But I'm diggin' the rock look of it all!

I hit control+ and nothing happened.
This looks better on the office pc than it does on the one at home. This monitor is set at a slightly lower resolution so things aren't quite as small.
I still feel like I need to crank up the brightness on the monitor with this one though. It feels like when the power goes out and I'm trying to read a book by candlelight.
Definitely is more user friendly at the 1024x768 monitor setting here at the office though. :)

Ooh, I don't know why it doesn't work at work, I just tried it on my PC here at the house, and it works just fine. Maybe there's a maximum size the Control + can make it and it's already set that way at work. Although, if that were the case you'd think the minus would make it smaller, but it didn't do that there. I've got a Gateway machine at work that's got all sorts of quirks, maybe that's one of them.
Off to switch back to the dark side (someone's avatar said that they had cookies there ;) ) and see if the ctrl + thing works well enough to stay switched over...

Well, here I am, now typing from the dark side of the boards (sounds like a Pink Floyd album! :D ) after hitting control + + (and the plus above the = sign at the top of the keyboard will do it too.)
Definitely better, but still feels like someone has a 3 way dimmer switch turned onto the lowest setting. But at least things are legible now.
Wonder what would happen if I changed font colors, if that would make things easier to read.

It is very cool, but sadly I am on the white scheme too. It just hurts my eyes too much too and I can see my reflection in the screen all the time which is a little disconcerting.

My dear friend James who designs web sites...and happened to be my partner in crime for the TAFF....said that this type of colouring/background etc is actually very good for the eyes. It is literally less stressfull on the eye itself.
He changed my resolution to High...whatever that means.:o
But have a look at your own monitor's settings and see if that helps.
I was so impressed about this new Site that I just had to show him.
I love the look...I think it adds to the "Rockstar image" of Third Day.
Mind you I totally respect and understand the views of those who are not so fond of it.
Bless ya!

I switched back to white after my last post last night. The larger fonts worked, and I thought "yay great!" and when I switched to a few other sites they looked fine, but then when I went to another board that uses the same bbs system as here, and the oversized fonts (which aren't needed on that board) just about bowled me over when the page came up.
So while the control + thing is great here, I don't want to have to be switching between sizes constantly between the two boards. So it's easier just to leave it on the white/blue color scheme. Blue's one of my favorite colors anyway, so it doesn't really hurt my feelings at all. :)

That's why Firefox 3 will be nice - saves the size settings per site. :)
For reference, Ctrl 0 should return you to the default size, and Ctrl - steps down to the next size below where you're at.

Light on dark for reading text is NEVER a pleasant option (well, not for those of us who value our eyes!)

Right now, it's a very late beta, so it doesn't really have major bugs left that you'll notice, but a lot of extensions/add-ons don't work yet (plugins are fine though). It's a matter of whether you're willing to deal with the risk of some of your extensions not working, or maybe discovering a minor bug that hasn't been fixed yet. I've been using it for a while now, and quite happily. FireFox 3 beta 5 (http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all-beta.html) is far and away the best performing (speed of javascript/AJAX pages, etc.) browser I've encountered. So, "is it OK" in the sense of is it safe? Yes. "Is it OK" in the sense of will every extension I might like work right now? Not yet.

I like the lighter version better. I know that the black is supposed to be easier on the eyes, but I found myself concentrating too hard to read it. I am so glad I found this post and how to change it back!

Keep up the good work, Dale! The choice of colors is good. I had to change mine to white because I'm getting old people's eye disease.:) :) :)
