When Pope Benedict XVI arrives in the United States in April, he will visit several cities including New York City and Washington, D.C. He is scheduled to attend open-air masses, deliver an address to the United Nations and visit to the World Trade Center site. One of the key stops will be an April 19 visit to St. Joseph’s Seminary in Yonkers, NY, where he will preside over a youth rally; encouraging youth to seek vocations within the church.

Third Day, GRAMMY winning and multi-million selling rock band, was asked to perform at the youth rally by St. Joseph’s Seminary. “It’s not every day that you’re invited to perform for a crowd being presided over by Pope Benedict XVI,” shares lead vocalist, Mac Powell. “This is a great honor for us.”

Chris Wangro, event producer, notes, “Third Day was selected to perform because they’re recognized as a leader in Christian music and an important influence for today’s youth. We wanted to bring the most current sound to the rally and Third Day definitely fits this bill.”

Third Day is readying to release its 11th studio project Revelation on July 29. Produced by Howard Benson (Daughtry, P.O.D., Flyleaf and Hoobastank) the 13-song project reflects its Southern rock influences, but also delivers real, palpable vulnerability in both song matter and performance. With guest vocals by Chris Daughtry, Flyleaf’s Lacey Mosely and Robert Randolph the album is highly anticipated.

The albums first single, the aching love song “Call My Name” releases to Christian radio on April 4, and sets the stage for the album’s release on July 29, followed by a summer of festival appearances and an ambitious fall tour schedule together with Switchfoot and Robert Randolph & The Family Band.

One of my youth is going to be there! She got drawn in the lottery to attend the youth rally and the Mass at Yankee Stadium. I volunteered to be an extra chaperone, but was assured they were set on chaperones.

And I don't know about the April 4th date as the release of Call My Name as a single...I heard it on our local station yesterday and then requested it today so a friend could hear it.

I receive an e mail from our local CCM station as I'm on their listener advisory panel and they had a clip of Call My Name, so I knew it wouldn't be long before it would be released.

Google them and you can listen to some on their website. The most current "hit" is called "Ain't Nothin Wrong With That" and it rocks. But they play a lot of jam-type music. Randolph plays the steel guitar, which is a sound I love. They are kinda blues/funk/soul/gospel.

So it's not just me. At least I am in good company, er, well, uh, at least I am not alone. ;) Never heard of them either!! I was hoping DecembeRadio would also be part of the Fall tour since I did not get to see the Spring tour and I was wanting to see what they are like. I have never heard any of DecembeRadio's music either.

Does anybody know on which songs Flyleaf’s Lacey Mosely sings on the new album? That's pretty exciting. She has incredible pipes. How did they hook up with her?

From CMSpin:

That thread of searching for definition plays throughout Revelation, the veteran Atlanta-based band’s 11th studio album, set to release on July 29. For Powell and his longtime bandmates – guitarist Mark Lee, bassist Tai Anderson and drummer David Carr – that search involved stepping out of their physical comfort zone by recording the project in Los Angeles, and out of their creative comfort zone by bringing in producer Howard Benson, known for his work with artists such as Daughtry, P.O.D., Flyleaf and Hoobastank

Just as this season of definition for Third Day involved bringing Benson into the fold, other artists step into to the creative mix as well, such as Chris Daughtry on the track “Slow Down,” Flyleaf’s Lacey Mosely on “Run To You” and “Born Again” and pedal steel guitar wizard Robert Randolph on “Otherside".

You are in good company, Mary. I haven't heard of them either. I had never heard Needtobreathe before they played with 3D in Myrtle Beach and I really like them! Also heard Leeland for the 1st time with 3D in 2006 - got their CD right after the concert. I bought DecembeRadio's CD after Corrine and Debbie raved so much about them and I think you would like their music. So I trust the guys have picked another band that we will all enjoy.

They gotta go with plaid.

Will the Pope rock out to Creed? I wonder if he's got some good dance moves to rival Mac. It would be fantastic to see him doing the dance that Mac directs during "I Got A Feeling". We'll need a report from some of the youth. It's great to hear that a more "seasoned" Christian like the Pope recognizes that we need to reach our youth in a language, music, and worship style that they understand and relate too.

I'm hearing the song on Christian radio ... makes the new CD a reality ... can't wait. :D

That's wonderful to hear! I'm glad they're getting recognized for being leaders in the Christian community. We need more positive role models.....

Or atleast, I do. Can't have too many good influences in your life.

Wonder if Jars of Clay will just be at certain cities instead of the whole tour? I was kind of thinking that myself, since the prior tour news didn't say anything about Jars being on the tour.

Wonder if the Raleigh show is going to be at the State Fair again, or if it'll be a big enough production to play the RBC? Or someplace else entirely.

But yeah, as they say on the Price is Right... Come on DOWN! (although in your case it would be more like Come on UP! :) )

That it is, although the self flushing toilets are a real water waster when they opt to self flush three times while you're in there. LOL.

I've seen Mannheim Steamroller there once, and Blue Man Group once, and well, watched the Canes win the Stanley Cup there a few years ago. It's a very VERY nice venue when you win the Cup in Game 7 and the confetti falls from the ceiling and everyone is going absolutely bonkers. :D Probably the second best moment of my life. ;)

And should be seeing the Van Halen show there on May 5, unless it gets rescheduled a THIRD time.

Great to see that Cynthia Woods Pavilion has returned as the Houston venue. It's such a comfortable place to view a concert. The parking is wretched, but that's another story. I love seeing concerts there. I've seen the band there every time they've come since 2000.

Anybody know when these Fall Tour tickets go on sale?

I haven't joined Third Day's fan club yet. So are the other bands having a presale then? I'm in Switchfoot's fan club.

I have to say when I saw the tour list I was kinda angry, but then I felt guilty about being angry, but hey, I was severely disappointed. I know my husband wants to visit my daughter in AZ, though not sure how we can afford it with gas going through the roof. I might try to go to the AZ show. We'll see.
