So, I've found that songwriting is a good thing to do when I'm... well, let's just say, tempted. I'll post two songs, one now and one later... I can't remember all the words to the second one, since it's pretty new. But here's the first one.
*debating on how to put this*
The chorus and first verse of this song were written after... well, a failure that I had. I won't go into detail... I don't think I need to... but let's just say that I was feeling... well, like I didn't have the strength to go on. I think the song speaks for itself.
As I sit here tonight,
everything comes to the light.
I kneel here broken down;
the pieces of my facade lie all around.
"What's Inside of Me"
by Matthew Williams
Verse 1:
As I sit here tonight,
everything comes to the light.
I kneel here broken down;
the pieces of my facade lie all around.
I want you to come and talk to me, and tell me:
what is this inside of me?
Chorus:
Deny myself and follow you:
that's what I know I need to do,
but I don't feel like I can
cause of what's inside of me.
To know you is to truly live,
but I just don't think that I can give up....
what's inside of me.
Verse 2:
I know what I need to do
to have this life that makes all things new.
By your grace I must always stand
and give away the sin that makes this man.
I need all the grace you can give to me to deny
what this is inside of me.
Chorus:
Deny myself and follow you:
that's what I know I need to do,
but I don't feel like I can
cause of what's inside of me.
To know you is to truly live,
but I just don't think that I can give up....
what's inside of me.
It's in minor for the verse, and modulates to the relative major in the last two lines of each verse.
I really like going straight from this song to "I Want It All" by Shane & Shane: "Use me, break me, waste me on You, Lord" is the first part of the verse. I think it fits well.
Thoughts? Opinions?
