For the last few weeks, I have been reading an advance copy of Walking With God, by John Eldredge. It's very eye-opening and potentially life-changing. I highly recommend it. I believe it comes out next Tuesday.
If you have read Eldredge's past work and noticed a similarity in his writings, this one is a major departure.

You can also get free audio podcasts which have him reading from the book. I listened to them, and they're really good. In iTunes software, do a search for Ransomed Heart.
Can you elaborate on the "differentness" at all? Because my wife and I have grown a little... bored... with Eldredge's books. Each one is good, but reading each successive book is a bit of a yawn.

All of them seemed to say the same things in slightly different ways, didn't they?
I don't know how to explain it. It's a lot about how to pray, how to recognize the work of the enemy and how to deal with it. It's been an excellent read. The video clip is somewhat helpful.

I'm on a re-read of "Wild at Heart" right now. I read it two and a half years ago, and this is is my second read. Lots has happened since then, and... well, let's just say that I'm not looking forward to the chapter about the wound.
I have a few more of his books (including "The Way of the Wild Heart"), but I haven't actually read them yet.

The Way of the Wild Heart is one of most unfortunately named books ever. It really is very distinct from WAH, but the title makes many people think it's a rehash of WAH, which has really hurt sales. It's a shame.

I assumed that it was a sequel of sorts to WAH.

I know that was the easy thing to think, but it wasn't. It's a great book, but hardly anyone read it.

I've been reading this great book called "Unchristian." The title can be deceiving, but it's a great book written by the President of the Barna Group. It's all about how outsiders (people who aren't Christians) perceive Christianity. It's really taught me a lot about how I can change so that I'm a better influence to people of my generation. It's geared toward teenagers and young adults, but honestly, everyone should read it. It's a real eye opener.
