Hi, I'm new. I just became a christian again and I've been a musician for about 14 years now. I have been writing christian songs for the past couple of weeks and I'd like to share the lyrics to get some feedback.

This song is called Habitat for Insanity, I wrote the music, first verse and first part of the chorus about a year and a half ago. I never finished it but now I know why.

HABITAT FOR INSANITY
by Jeromy Smith (C) 2008 JeroSmith music

Another day, tucked away
in this habitat for the insane
can't you hear the music play
A song of grace, for the misplaced
a break from all the phantoms that you chase
won't you sing along
(CHORUS)
This door is open to you my friend
so find some rest at this days end
(thats all I originally had written)
Songs of worship, songs of love
we sing to God who is up above
We praise Him

Another night, passes by,
still feel empty but I don't know why
can't you hear my desparate cry?
Looked far and wide, no place to hide
nobody left standing by my side
I'm left broken inside

it goes to the chorus again and I'm working on a bridge and a possible third verse. The song originally started from a place I used to jam. A friend called it the habitat for insanity, it was a place we would all get together to jam and party. Unfortunatly we were seeking refuge in the wrong way, using drugs and alchohol to numb ourselves from the realities of the world instead of facing them head on with God by our sides to give us strength. I could never think of anything else to put into the song until now, instead of the refuge being a friends house to party at, it became the church. A place to go when the world seems to gang up on you and you need to be surrounded by familiar faces who always have a hand to lend and a hug to give.

I really like it. It seems... I dunno, like it's describing where I am right now pretty well.

Nice song, I can imagine myself singing along to the chorus listening to it on the radio.

I look forward to the next verse.

Best wishes, David.
