My iPod nano won't turn on and it won't do anything when I hook it up to my computer. Seeing as I just got it for Christmas, I'm starting to panic a bit. Is there a solution??

I don't have any clue about the answer to your question, but you haven't been around in a while.

WOW! It IS you! You havent been here in so long i forgot your name. Caitlin isnt it?
hmmm. I really dont know what to tell you. Ive had my nano since LAST Christmas and it still works fine. You could try holding down the middle button and menu for about 5 seconds and see if that works. But with it not having any power at all i dont know if that would work. you could also go to apple.com and go to their iPod boards, and post your question there. I've done that before when i had problems with mine and it seemed to be pretty helpful.

I can't say I'm surprised. What you want to do is reset your iPod to its factory settings. Check out this website to walk you through it:

Your other option it to take it back; it'll still be under warranty and you will be better off too. I work in a shop that sells all these kinds of up-to-date technology and have seen many iPod's come back. Their build quality leaves alot to be desired.

Haha No, I think you have me confused with Eowyn. I'm Meagan. ;)

Ok, I didn't know about the Apple boards, I may check that out.

Ok, I'm gonna try reseting it since I'm quite desperate for it to be working tomorrow since I'll be standing in line at WinterJam for almost 3 hours...but if reseting it doesn't help, I'll take it back.
Thanks so much for your help, and the link! :)

Have you tried holding down the play or center button for about 5 seconds as someone else mentioned? It seems like there are two different off states for the iPod. One only takes a tap of the play button to get it to turn on. The other takes holding down one of those buttons for about 5 seconds, and the Apple appears on the screen as if a computer is starting up. I'm not sure what the difference is, but you might want to try that.
Also, Apple is pretty good about repairs/returns if you have a busted iPod...just as long as it's within the warranty period.
