Ideas for Band Names

We seem to have this thread over and over, so I thought I'd make a permanent place where we could all post our ideas for band names. Then whenever someone needs a band name, they can check here. And whenever someone thinks of a good band name, they can post it here, because sometimes ideas just come to you, and by the time you need it, you've forgotten it. So post your band name ideas here!

For a P&W band: Raised Hands

This board does help. I believe a teen female boardie has a rock band that was looking for a name. They really liked the book of Revelation so I suggested Rev. This has three meanings: the book, accelerate (as in fast rock), and the ministerial title. Last I heard, they chose Rev.

Did they choose Rev. with the period at the end or without? It's cool either way.

Actually I stumbled across a word this week that I thought would be great for a band name.

The word is Anothen. It is the Greek word that is often translated in English as "again" as in "born again" such as it is used in John 3:3. But it also often translated, for the same verse and others in some Bibles as from above, as in "born from above." The cool thing about the word is that both are acceptable translations because Anothen means both, not that it has two different meanings but it has elements of both again and from above simultaneously.

If a version of the Bible translates it as "again" there will usuall be a footnote that says "Or from above" and vice versa.

So my suggestion for a band name would be Anothen.

That's my running joke. Anytime some folks are in the midst in hilarious conversation, any really strange unique combination of words makes AWESOME names.

I know some great band names a friend of mine and her hubbie have a band called the royal trumpets and my friend dave was in a band called gadget goose and that became his solo project when the band broke up , and at church we have some members of a group well known here in hamilton called late eighties mercedes and also at church we had a group that went over to thailand last christmas and the band name was stencil.

Alright my two roomates and i were at applebees last night and one of them really wants to start a death metal band. I said make it a christian metal band and I am in. No death please. So we were trying to think of a name and I saw 4 letters on this column in the restaurant and it said "QSXC" I don't know what it means, nor do we have anything made up for it. but i thought it was cool.

My band name is Iron Trinity. We got iron from Proverbs 27:17 As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another. Our bands symbol is the trinity symbol. I have drawn some pictures (not very good) of the words Iron Trinity and the I an d the T form the sides of an upsidedown sword which turns into a cross at the top and at the side there is a trinity symbol.
