I did not see a thread already, so I'm starting one now. If there is one, please combine.
The Oceanic 6???? Jack, Kate, Hurley... Who are the other three? And what happens to the rest? RIP Charlie. I really liked him.
Tonight's ep is good so far. I hear each episode for the first 4 you see another castaway in a flashforward. I guess tonight was Hurley. Seems his bad luck has not changed much.:(

Lovin' the Charlie post-mortem appearances. Death looks good on him...
And apparently he's not a figment of Hurley's imagination because the fellow patient saw him, too.

I did freeze it, and I can't tell a thing, other than there is a man in the rocking chair. And I did figure out that it is definitely Locke looking out the window and scaring Hurley to death!!! Can't wait for next Thursday!!!!!! :D
Hmmm, a future Jack. Nothing is out of the question with this crazy show. We know that Jack wants to come back to the island at some point in the future. So much to ponder!!! :P

What struck me is that when the group split, Hurley went with Locke, then later he told Jack that he was sorry he didn't stay with him. I WONDER WHAT HAPPENS!!! Now that we know at least some of them get off the island, the "fun" is in wondering if and how they get back and why they all seem to be so screwed up!
I wonder who that guy is that visited Hurley inside the mental institution, it seems that he knows that the "6" left people behind.
Seems ironic that on the island Hurley told Jack that Charlie tried to tell him something (about the boat not being Penny's) and so he was going to listen to him, yet when he sees him at the institution, he doesn't listen to him.
What a great way to start the season!

I am a little disappointed, and maybe spoiled by Heroes, where there is a lot of action. We've been promised a blockbuster season, with lots of action. This first episode had the usual one hour show/five minutes of new information. But it is nice to be back into it again.

I tuned in again this season. I watched the first half of season one until it went into holiday reruns, never got back into it until the start of season 2, when after watching all the commercials during the prior season and catching the "previously on" bit at the start of the show, I felt like I hadn't missed a thing. Watched a few more, but it was so slow going I gave up on it again. I don't remember if I saw any of Season three or not, but the newspaper said that if anyone had ever watched it at all they needed to tune back into THIS season, so I watched the one hour recap (that was all I needed to get caught up, they did a nice job of getting people up to speed enough with that one) at 8 on Thursday, then the first ep right afterwards.
Don't know if I'll stick with it, but I'll probably watch a few more since there are so few new shows on with the writer's strike.

No, God bless Hurley. He has to be the most unlucky character ever. Plus, who else gets cast away and actually gains weight??? I love Hurley, tho. Hope we find out more about what happened when the sides split up. I think if I were on the island and we chose sides, I'd make sure I was on the other side from him--but I guess it did not work out so well for Jack, either. He could use some luck as well. So many questions...
But I loved the scene when Hurley breaks the news to Claire. It was so sweet and touching. You could tell they both loved Charlie dearly.

I loved it, too. Didn't seem like acting, felt real. I was expecting that Hurley would do that thing they always do on TV when they tell someone that someone else is dead. Drives me crazy. They don't say anything, they just look at them, while the other person is left to figure it out, "Where is he? Tell me, darn it! . . . No! . . . NO! . . . He can't be . . . OH NO! Not Charlie." and she breaks into uncontrolable sobbing. I was so happy to hear Hurley just come right out and say that he was dead. And yes, Charlie looks much better, healthier, dead. :P

You guys are way more observant than me. I did not see too many revelations in last night's episode. The ghostbuster guy kinda creeped me out, and I still don't think I understand who the "rescuers" work for and why they are interested in Ben. If anyone has any insight on that, let me know. Boy Ben did not have a good night. I think he almost bought it about three times. I think if it were not for Alex being there, Sawyer would have finished him off. That guy is a perfect villian. I don't know what else he has been in, but I don't think I'll ever be able to watch him and empathize with his character. Ben/Henry Gale's creepiness is etched in my memory forever.

Theory:In one of the flashbacks of the 4 people who just landed on the island, the one girl was at an archeological dig, where polar bear bones were found in the desert, and there with the bones was a Dharma looking symbol. Could these new people be part of Dharma??? Ben killed all of the Dharma people on the island and became the leader of "The Others". Is it possible that these Dharma people want a little revenge. Or maybe I am totally not understanding as usual.
Thoughts anyone.
PS-I completely agree, I will never be able to see the actor who plays Ben as anyone but Ben. My goodness what a meanie. I loved it when Danielle elbowed him in the mouth when he referred to Alex as HIS daughter!!! :D

Anyone have comments on sayid's possible future as an assasin working for ben? and what that is all abovt?
I am thinking that only 6 people from Oceanic 815 get off of the island, and the rest are left behind still alive. Possibly Ben will threaten Sayid with hurting/killing other survivors on the island if he does not do what Ben tells him. Sayid obviously does not WANT to work for Ben, he was even crying. So Ben must have something on Sayid to MAKE him work for him. But who knows, I am usually wrong!! :D :P Another thought, in flashforwards, we have seen that both Jack and Hurley want to go back to the island, so maybe Sayid wants to go back too, and Ben will only take him after he does Ben's dirty work. I am anxious to see as I am sure I am no where close!! LOL!!

I think he's working for Ben because he feels/is being told that that is the only way that his friends on and off the island will be safe. And possibly that it is the only way to get the left behind losties back. Only time will tell.

Good point on Ben, but I think the person in the coffin could count depending on who it was. The coffin scene is later, so the person could have died a while after returning. I think it would be deliciously ironic if Locke ended up being one of the six.

Emmo, don't read this! everyone else- start talking! why does kate have aaron?? locke says he runs the island? i am tearing my hair out!! help!!
So was that Claire's baby? Can't recall his name, but I think it was Aaron. But there was the reference Sawyer made to Kate like "Is this about the pregnancy thing?" I could not tell what he meant by that, either the fact that all moms who conceive on the island are doomed, or that she was pregnant? They were discussing her moving in with him at the time. I hope Claire is not on the island separated from her child, but I guess the other option would be she is dead. Both of those suck!
Marmoo68
02-22-2008, 09:44 AM
Yes, that was Claire's baby!! Why Kate has him in open for debate. Either Claire is dead, or Kate took the baby to get him off of the island but for some reason Claire did not get to go. So that would seem to rule out Claire as possibly being on of the Oceanic 6. But no matter why she has Aaron, she is claiming him as her son. And for some reason that bothers Jack, since at the end Kate mentions that Jack is uncomfortable about it, but he needs to get over that. (I need to watch that scene again). At first I thought that the fact Jack was unwilling to see Kate's son was an implication that it was Sawyer's baby. But we found out that is not so. So since Jack does not want to see Aaron, for some reason it upsets him. Maybe guilt for leaving others behind on the island????
As far as the reference about pregnancy between Kate and Sawyer. At one point, it was implied that Kate could be pregnant, and Sawyer would have been the father obviously. But Kate told Sawyer that she was not, so I guess it had been a false alarm.
Wow, John Locke is really becoming a meanie huh??? Guess Miles won't be doing much talking for awhile.
But one of the other things that perplexed me the most was the testimony Jack gave on the stand at Kate's trial. It was a complete fabrication. The plane went down in the water, only 8 survived, Kate rescued everyone from the water. I was just sitting there going "what????". Then Kate referenced that later when she spoke to Jack. She said she had heard him tell that story so many times it seemed as if Jack had started believing it. For some reason the Oceanic 6 are not telling the true story of the crash and what happened on the island. Why, I have no idea???
Any thoughts Jason, I am sure you will set me straight!! LOL!! :P ;) :D

For the first time ever, I think what's happening is obvious. It's obvious that Ben has used their bad sides against them, and is controling them. "Them" being the Oceanic 6. I'm sure that Ben promised these six that he would rescue them, but only them, and according to his terms. One stipulation is that Sayid be his hired gun. Who knows what his deal with the rest of them is. It's obvious that the story Jack told on the stand is the story they told everyone when they got home.
Ben said something to Sayid, something that alluded to his continued cooperation in order to keep his friends safe. I wonder if he meant the other 5 that had been rescued, or the ones left on the island.
I can tell that Jack regrets being rescued while the others weren't.
The only problem with this theory is that I don't think Hurley would have agreed to be rescued while the others weren't. Unless Ben threatened those left on the island if they didn't agree to his terms. In order to do this, Ben would have had to have back up. So he has to get to the boat and back to his people.
My guess as to who is in the coffin is Sawyer, although, I hope not. But it makes sense. He has no one who would come to his funeral, except maybe Jack and Kate. Sayid was busy, and Hurley was otherwise detained. And Kate would have responed the way she did to Jack's question about whether or not she went.
Kate is such a mess. I don't think she has a clue as to what she wants out of life. Come to think of it, neither does Jack, Sawyer, Hurley, or even Sayid. They are floating through life with no direction. There is nothing that drives them except being rescued. I take that back. Sawyer seems content for the first time, probably in his life. He doesn't have any drive at all, so he's happy to be on the island with lots of time to lay around and read. But I can see Sawyer being moved to keep the others that he's come to care about safe.
But how does Kate get Aaron? Do they just take him? Does Claire give him up, so he can grow up in the world and not on the island. I can see Ben playing on her sympathies to force her to do so.
But Ben is not a man with lots of money. He grew up, the son of a maintenance man, on that island. How would he get this power? He didn't look so powerful in that place where he treated Sayid. So why, WHY and HOW does he have a guy on that boat? I'm confused. Okay, maybe not entirely obvious. Why am I thinking about this so much?
You know, I liked this show much better when we thought that the Dharma people were doing experiments on those on the island. That was much more intriguing to me. This is turning out to be so normal. I preferred it when it was paranormal.

That's cool. I missed Thurs night's ep in full as I was dosing off. I had to have my eleven year old explain it to me, and I think some things may have gotten lost in translation. I'll need to watch it again when we return home from our little trip. We're on a little family vacation.

Now I feel bad if I come across as trying to set you straight.
When I say "set me straight", I merely mean that you always see it from a very different perspective than I do, and your viewpoint is always very relevant. None of us have anything but theories, but unfortunately I feel that I am usually on the wrong track, and you help me to see things that I did not notice before!!! I in no way meant that you were being ugly to me in any way!! You were not rude to me Jason!! You are a cool dude. Keep your theories coming!! I'll keep throwing mine out there, but they are probably wrong. LOL!!! This season really has me going. As Corrine was mentioning in her thoughts, I too am very curious about Ben, his source of power, what kind of hold he has over Sayid and possibly the other Oceanic 6. It is all very perplexing to me. :D :D :D So glad I have all of you to be confused with!! :D

LOL!! :P ;) :D
Well, no we do not know that that is Claire's Aaron. If he was Claire's Aaron why would Kate have him? First, Kate was a fugitive and wouldn't be allowed to adopt a baby. Also, Claire's Aaron is Australian, making adoption even more difficult. Claire's aunt in Oz would have a better claim to him. Another possibility is that this Aaron is Kate and Sawyer's baby, perhaps explaining why Jack didn't want to see him. Speaking of Sawyer, I think that was him in the coffin.
So where's the helicopter? We know Sayid is ok since in flash-forwards he obviously made it back to civilization.
Is Miles perhaps Ben's "man on the boat"? The $3.2 million is such a strange number. Could it perhaps be code? 3x2=6 ... Oceanic 6? Remember, Miles initially asked for a private conversation with Ben.
And what is this thing with Daniel and the cards? Did he mess up a simple memory experiment or perhaps a more elaborate card counting game? Or perhaps Daniel is in a time loop like Desmond and is trying to remember the cards from a previous loop?

Unless Kate is passing him off as her biological child. Her mother did consider him her grandson and want to see him, which seems weird if she thought he were just some random kid. You're right, though, that it might not be Claire's Aaron. It would be just like the writers to throw some blonde kid in the mix and call him Aaron just to confuse us. Maybe Sawyer is his daddy...
seeker
02-26-2008, 07:46 PM
One reason I think Jack would not want to see Aaron is that at some point he finds out that Claire and he are related, making Aaron his nephew and thus the guilt at having left others on the island is too much for him to be reminded on a daily basis.
The producers have said that we will know who was in the casket by the end of this season and I have no clue on who it will be.

Eep, don't say that! I'm hoping that Desmond at least has a happy ending. But I did get a little worried for him when he was dialing and they were showing a montage sort of thing of him leaving her apartment in London; it was reminiscent of a few other death scenes we've seen in previous seasons.
So I'll keep my fingers crossed for Desmond and Penny, since it's more than likely that her father plays a very large part in the overall scheme of things.

Have to admit that after hearing the news about Brad I was not in total concentration while watching the last episode. But the whole jumping back and forth thru time and sending messages to people in the future was way cool. On a side note Miss Karen, if you like stuff like that you need to see the movie "Frequency" with Dennis Quaid and Jim Caviezel!!!!! I just love JC!!!
One of the most interesting things I noticed last nite was that one time when Des was in 1996, he was at that auction where Pennies father was a bidder. And did you notice what he purchased!!??? The manifest from The Black Rock, the ship where the Losties found the dynamite to blow open the hatch. I found that whole little story interesting about The Black Rock being shipwrecked and the manifest showing up in Madagascar 7 years later. And the family who had owned it since that time had never revealed any info from the manifest. And then of all things, Desmond ending up on the very island where the ship is located. Wonder what info was in that manifest, and did it have anything to do with Des ending up on the island. What better place to send the man that loves your daughter that you can't stand than to an island in a time warp! I really need to watch this one again. Can't wait to see it next week with the pop-ups!! And yes, I am cheering for Penny and Des too. I know she will try her hardest to reach him!!

Pop ups? Is that what they mean when they say they play the "enhanced" version of the previous week's episode at 8pm before the current episode at 9? What is that, is it like Pop-Up Video on VH-1, when they give you all these popup balloons with all sorts of interesting factoids about what you're watching? We're always watching Survivor at 8, and since I've already taped and watched last week's episode as a set with Eli Stone at 10, I've never bothered with the 8pm replay.

That is so funny! "Miles won't be doing much talking..." That kills me! :D
Regarding Jack's testimony, didn't Hurley say the same thing to the police officer who's partner was Ana Lucia?
We know from the helicopter pilot's intro when watching the footage of the crash with the pilot in the water before he calls oceanic hotline that what he is seeing cannot be true. Jack, Kate and Charlie had been to the cockpit when they got the radio where they could hear the French language loop that Shannon was able to translate. The pilot told them how far off course they were before the "monster" thingy grabbed him out of the cockpit. Jack, Kate and Charlie found the pilot's dead blood-covered body in a tree top away from the crash site. This scene is also when Charlie got his stash from the lavatory...So the crash site has been recreated to represent a water crash as we saw it reported on the tv...so the oceanic six would have to stick to the story.
I think BEN is controlling all of the people, working both sides, for he is a first rate sicko power tripper with a Truman Show narcissism that can only be stopped by a super hero...
I think Kate is referring to Ben when she tells Jack at the airport that "He is going to know I am gone" ...or her parole officer. Speaking of that, I think Ben made Kate's mom change her mind in testifying. I think Ben has a thing for Kate...Oh wait, do you think Kate slept with Ben for her freedom? Yuck!!!!!! Oh that just gives me the creeps!!!! ...but, TV-plausible. THAT could explain why Jack does not want to see the baby. I think he could accept Sawyer's baby for Jack knows she is torn between the two of them, but BEN's? Rosemary's baby? NO WAY! ...I think I have watched one too many movies and TV shows in my lifetime...
Well, no we do not know that that is Claire's Aaron. If he was Claire's Aaron why would Kate have him? First, Kate was a fugitive and wouldn't be allowed to adopt a baby.
Even though my Kate and (gag) Ben theory...still gagging...is just a theory in my head at this point, I really speculate Aaron is Kate and Sawyer's baby for Sawyer was right when he told her handcuffs would be waiting for her AND Miles told her she should stay put. The only reason Kate would risk prison would be to save her baby and herself, unless she was pregnant BEFORE the crash. It has only been a hundred days...I don't know nothin' 'bout birthin' no babies, but sometimes pregnancies don't show until the fourth month? Am I wrong on that? It is TV... None of those people on Oceanic really have any reason to leave the island. If I were them, I would stay in tropical paradise and make the bad people leave. I would open a little T-shirt stand for once the island is found, it will become tourism destination. I would capitalize on that! ...Aruba, Jamacia ooh I want to know the rest of the words before Kokomo...
Sawyer in the coffin? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! He can't be! He just can't be! I WILL cry over THAT! But, isn't that TOO obvious? Ben seems obvious too. As does Locke. But why would Locke Leave? I think it might be someone else and it will REALLY shock us! Like Micheal who traded Jack, Kate, Sawyer and Hurley for Walt and his freedom...
Maybe this is completely sappy of me, but was anyone else tearing up in the final few minutes? :D After all the stuff that's gone on with these people, it was nice to have something happy happen to someone for once.
Yes! Finally some happiness/joy for one of these poor souls...

You know, I liked this show much better when we thought that the Dharma people were doing experiments on those on the island. That was much more intriguing to me. This is turning out to be so normal. I preferred it when it was paranormal.
I am with you on this... What about Jack's father being seen by Jack and Jack's father's coffin empty when he breaks it up. What about the "monster"? What about the black smoke? What about the image Locke saw on the door or walls of the place with the computer? What about the thing that dragged Locke across the ground? Why can Locke walk now? What was all the whispering Sayid heard when he was walking back to the beach after his encounter with Danielle? And what was snorting and growling above the tree or around the tree when Kate was freaked out and called for Jack but then started counting to five as Jack recommended?
I prefer the paranormal for that FREAKS ME OUT, but just a sicko power trippin' nasty evil hearted man controlling stuff just confuses me.

I do remember that Hurley denied ever knowing Anna Lucia, which I thought was so weird at the time. But now we know that all of the Oceanic 6 are lying about the details of the crash!!
Yes, we do know that the TV coverage of the "crash" showed the plane in the water. But I don't understand why the Oceanic 6 would help to promote that story when they know it is not true. Someone must be putting pressure on them or threatening them or something to get them to play along with a complete fabrication of what really happened. Ben could be behind it, since we know that Sayid is working for him, and I still have a hard time understanding why he would do that!!
I think BEN is controlling all of the people, working both sides, for he is a first rate sicko power tripper with a Truman Show narcissism that can only be stopped by a stake to the heart...oh did I just say that out loud?
Ben is definitely a master manipulator and a liar!! But Ben has said all along that he is "not the bad guy". I wonder who he does consider a "bad guy"!!
Hmmmm, that is interesting. At first I thought Kate was referring to Sawyer when she said that "he would know she was gone", but now I am not so sure. I am afraid Sawyer could be in the castket as well, though I am hoping that it is not him!! Could it be Ben she is referring to?? Who knows?! If he is manipulating Sayid, he could be manipulating all 6 of the Losties who were rescued. But oh please, please don't let it be Ben's baby. I may have nighmares over that theory tonite!! LOL!!! :P I am still of the opinion that for some reason Kate has Claire's baby. Whether Claire is dead, or it was the only way for Aaron to get off of the island, I feel that Kate is passing Aaron off as her biological child.
Ha Ha!!! I don't know nuthing bout birthin no babies either.
I can't wait to find out who it is, though I am so afraid it is going to make me mad when I do find out!!!
Yes! Finally some happiness/joy for one of these poor souls...
WOW!!! I was so busy watching DES, I missed that! I guess when watching LOST EVERY second counts...and every little detail means something somewhere down the road...WOW! I am still shocked by this!
Just watch this week's repeat at 8:00 PM and pay attention this time!!!:D :D

What do y'all think last week was?
I was specifically referring to the questions that Blue Eyed Merle brought up in that post. Those questions refer to some of the first strange properties of the island that were encountered in Season 1. The "monster" made of black smoke, the whispering in the jungle, the fact that Locke was "healed" and could walk again. These are all questions that are still unanswered. We are definitely getting to see even more strange properties of the island, like the lovely timewarp that poor Des encountered. When I said that things would swing around to the paranormal again, I meant that we would eventually know the answers to the above questions. I hope that clears up what I meant.

I too want to have answers to some of the early paranormal stuff on the island. what about walt? he appeared to always be different- even as a kid. a polar bear appeared after he saw one in a comic book and he still shows up to people.

Wow. I forgot about Michael.
*tries to remember if Jack, Kate, or funeral director used any masculine or feminine pronouns when referring to the coffin*
I do not think they made any gender references..at least, this is the consensus at my place of employment
Was michael given coordinates when he sailed off and covld he be the one on the boat as ben's spy?
I think the eye patch guy is the spy. He was in charge of all the communications stuff on island before Locke blew it up. Eye patch guy also had scuba gear on when he blew up the looking glass station. He would know how to destroy the equipment on the freighter.

What do y'all think last week was?
Pretty much a normal day for me...for I tend to find myself asking myself things like: "now why am I in the kitchen?" funny, no?
It was paranormal but not in a spooky Frank Peretti way

Just watch this week's repeat at 8:00 PM and pay attention this time!!!:D :D
That is kind of difficult for me to do as my TV is older than Hannah Montana and the antenna broke so I have stand and hold the antenna just the right way so the picture comes in. This is not a joke. I repeat this is not a joke. :o I will hold the antenna and not move a muscle for an hour, but two? I don't think so...;) :D
Oh, Regarding Sayid and Ben...Maybe Ben knows the whereabouts of Nadia and is using that to get to Sayid. I think all of the oceanic 6 have sold their souls to the Ben. BTW, I am still gagging in thinking about Ben and Kate...Perhaps she just "carries" the baby for him via the non birds and bees method. Considering the blonde chick who Kate is jealous of, cannot think of her name as she is not a "constant" in my head (HAHA), is a fertility expert. Being the megalomaniac that he is, I am sure Ben ( ) would want an heir, just like Dr. Evil. :P

Are y'all sure michael isn't on the ship? they appear to have a friend aboard and next week mentions someone we weren't expecting to see.
I've said it's Charlie ever since Ben said he had somebody on the boat. Then tonight, when he told Locke to "sit down" I said it again. Then during the previews for next week when they said "Someone we weren't expecting to see" I said it...AGAIN!

I have one thing to say about tonight's episode:
Ben is teh awesome.
That is all.
Yeah, and I'm pretty sure that it's Michael on the boat.
LOL, my fiance hates the fact that I like Ben.
He has a dry/morbid sense of humor that makes me crack up at least once every episode, and he's so much smarter than every one else, that he can control them, while they have him locked up, without them realizing that he's controlling them!

Ben is evil personified. But it was kinda funny watching him swoon over Juliette. Although, I think he's completely incapable of love. Maybe he's just obsessed with her. That was so cruel how he took her to the body. And how quickly the wheels must turn in his head. The plane is in mid-crash and he's already sending him away. I guess he thought if he gets info and or people, great, if he gets killed, even better. He's so evil...

I think the person on the ship is BEN! The same way that Desmond is "traveling" through time, so is Ben. I think that they have him hostage and are trying to get back to the "Ben" before he did something to stop them.
I think that the one guy (rescuer who says Desmond is his constant) when he was "playing cards" with that one chick was not trying to remember what cards she had layed down after seeing them, I think that she laid down cards and he was supposed to "flash forward" to see what they were. The same way Desmond was "flashing forward" when he told Charlie what was going to happen.
I think that Jacob is Jack (or possibably his dad).
Kate's "he'll know I'm gone" line refers to her son. However I too think that the father is going to be a suprise. (Maybe invetro was done while she was captive and it's Ben's so that he could get the stem cells to regenerate his spine? LOL I don't know)
I think that Michael is going to be in the future but he is somehow not listed as one of the 6. (Then there'd be 7 to account for Walt)
I don't think that Charlie is going to be found alive because Hurly in the "forward" sceens states to him that he can't be there because he's dead.
I've got to get to work so more thoughts later...

I really, really hope that at the end of all this that there will be some form of a recap, like a book or something, that will chronologically explain & answer everything. I've pretty much gotten to the point that I don't understand anything and am too tired in general to notice & process everything while watching. My son & I groan throughout each episode. But we're committed.
So, my contribution to this discussion is that I think it's Michael. The flash of the silhouette looked like him. I think Aaron is Claire's Aaron. I can't stand Locke or Ben. They annoy me to no end. Just about everyone's annoying me...haha

Heh, guess I've just spent too much time on Lost forums where people will literally spaz if I hadn't hidden it. Call me paranoid ;) Besides, it's pretty obvious by now that it's Mike. Harold Perrineau has been credited at the beginning of every episode so far as a main character.
But how do you account for the fact that the other patient saw Charlie too?
Delving into the paranormal for a moment here -
In that episode, Charlie confirmed himself dead. ("I am dead. But I'm also here.") Kind of a Sixth Sense kind of thing, save for the fact he can actually touch people as opposed to walking through them or other such oddness. I think he can appear to whom he wants to appear, and it wouldn't be the first time we've seen this happen, either. Ben's mother and Eko's brother have appeared to the living as well, and Locke saw Boone in a vision. But I highly doubt the Benny boy's secret agent man is a ghost.
That, and Dominic has signed on for two new movie projects, so I don't think we'll be seeing anymore of Charlie save for maybe in flashbacks.
I can't stand Locke or Ben.
*GASP* You dare insult Ben Linus  :P I'm not so sure about Locke anymore . . .

When it comes to LOST, every time I think I have it figured out, I find myself surprised by the episodes. I guess that is why I have stuck around and will continue to do so and hope it was worth it.
Maybe LOST is a scientific/psychological experiment on the human race at large. Perhaps the ratings are being put on a graph so TV execs can see just what it takes for us humans to say "enough is enough" and stop watching. Then the red line will plummet and they will know how to promote a show and who will buy advertising for a show like this. Remember the Sprite commercials with the OBEY your thirst and the toll free number to call? Or was it on the website they gave in the commercials? When my boss and I called the number it was a fake commercial for the Hanso corporation? Did anyone else call those numbers? Maybe it was just on the internet. I don’t remember... There were also fake Oceanic Air commercials, weren’t there?
By the way, is Ben moving in with Hurley and Sawyer? It kind of appeared that way, considering Locke has taken over Ben's house. And what about evil shrink lady? Perhaps she in some sort of quantum leap thing too for her to disappear so quickly.
And for those paranormal lovers, ghostly whispers happened again.
I love that! It creeps me out! Maybe the whispers are the sound of time slipping slipping slipping into the future...
However I too think that the father is going to be a suprise. (Maybe invetro was done while she was captive and it's Ben's so that he could get the stem cells to regenerate his spine? LOL I don't know)
ah...the old stem cell trick ...perhaps...but didn't Jack remove the tumor?

I don't think he's necessarily a bad boy. Just made a mistake. There must be something about Hawaii. If I read it right, last night was a combination flash forward/flash back episode. The Sun part was a flash forward to the birth of her child. Then they tricked us in to thinking it was Jin heading to the hospital to see his baby. But in fact, it was a flashback to before the island. At the end, he takes the panda to the hospital and gives it to some high-ranking Chinese official who was having a baby. When he leaves the hospital, he says to the nurse, "I've only been married a few months". I thought it was very well done and got us at the end. Despite the lack of Desmond, who I feel should get at least 30 minutes screen time each week, it was a great episode. Did anyone see anything differently than me?

Ben deserves an emmy for his role...creepy and yet, somehow, I sort of like him and I cannot explain it. And now after seeing Penny's dad doing bad things, I really do not know if Ben is really the really, really, really bad guy or just a bit of a nut pulling out all the stops to protect his investment...
Perhaps, Ben is a wee bit misguided because he was unloved and unwanted as a child... How different are any of the oceanic survivors from Ben, really? It seems like most of the oceanic passengers have some sort of parental/family issues. Sawyer, Jack, Kate, Locke, Hurley, Sun, Claire, Charlie, Boone, Shannon, etc.

1. I like that theory. They're giving us nothing until the last show, I'm sure.
2. As much as I can't stand Ben, the actor has been incredible. He's amazing. I can't stand Juliet either. For some reason, her facial expressions make me want to smack her, she annoys me to no end. I am at a loss as to who # 6 will be. I know most people think that Sawyer is the one in the coffin, and if that is the case, it would have to be him, right?? He makes it home, only to die. In my mind, they are not including Aaron, since he was born on the island. But they throw us so many curve balls, I never know what to expect. It could very well be Locke. I was shocked to no end when in Sayid's flash forward he was working for Ben. Maybe that will be the case with Locke too. I just don't know, and it gives me a headache trying to figure this show out. LOL!!! Maybe it will be Jack's dad. When his coffin was found, it was empty; he was seen on the island by Jack, and Jacob looks and sounds like him. Maybe with all of the crazy time-travel stuff, his dad is on the island as Jacob the time-traveler. Or maybe I just ate too much chocolate ice-cream and I have brain freeze. :P :D :P But, we do know that Jack's dad had been to Australia before, since he had the affair that resulted in Claire's birth. So maybe he had been stranded on the island before, but somehow escaped, and like everyone else who gets off the island, they eventually want to come back. Maybe the island brought him back, as well as his son (Jack) and daughter (Claire). And no one ever really dies, so maybe Jack's dad is Jacob, and since he was on the plane, he could be #6. I don't know, is it just the chocolate ice cream?? :D :D

I don't believe he's dead - I think everyone is still on the Island.........all except the Oceanic 6. Sun's acting was fantastic - Think about it, if your husband was trapped on an Island and you knew you were never going to see him again........wouldn't you be grieving??

I have a question. Is Ben really the father of Danielle Rousseau's daughter Alex?? I thought (way back when) that she said her husband was a researcher and that he'd died years ago of a horrible disease. Was she meaning Ben? There doesn't seem to be much love between the two - but then he did steal her daughter. Also, Juliette looks nothing like her and they said that she looked just like his lost love (or whatever).
I hadn't guessed it was Michael on the boat - that wa a good twist.
What about the guy off the Island who found Michael........with his male 'friend'. That made us laugh. Only we thought that guy had already bought it on the Island!

Hey Emily,
This is an incredibly hard show to follow for sure, with flash forwards, flashbacks, time travel!!! Ugh!!!! I stay confused!! LOL:o
As far as Ben, Danielle, and Alex. Ben is not the biological father of Alex, he only raised her after she was taken from Danielle by the Others. Alex only recently found out that Ben was not her father and that Danielle was her mother.
Mike on the boat was pretty wild huh? Someone on the boards had guessed that and posted their theory, and I was pretty sure they were right, but I didn't guess it on my own. I don't think I have predicted anything right so far!! LOL!!
As far as Ben's lost love that Juliette is supposed to look like, the only thing that I can recall is that when Ben was a little boy on the island he had a little blonde girl as his friend. I don't know if they are referring to that or what. Maybe someone else can help us with that one.
The Other from the island who found Michael back in the real world did die on the beach. He had been on a little visit to the real world and found Michael to get him to work for Ben, then returned to the island and was killed during the shootout with Sayid, Sawyer and Bernard. The story of Michael being recruited to work for Ben was a flashback for Michael. In other words, we see him on the boat, then the flashback takes us back to when Michael was recruited to work for Ben. Michael had been gone for at least several weeks from the island. The Other had time to go find Michael, recruit him, and get back to the island before the shoot-out on the beach. I hope that helps you with the time-line a bit. And yes, when that Other is there to meet his male "friend" as well, I was just like, "oh good grief". Was that really necessary to the story?? I did have a good laugh the next day at work with my friend Brenda. It dawned on me that when Kate was taken by the Others, along with Jack and Sawyer, that the very same Other had taken her to a room so she could take a shower, and Kate told him "I am not going to take a shower in front of you" and the Other told her, "trust me Kate, you are not my type". LOL!!! ROTFL!!!! Explains that scene huh???
The new episodes for us in the USA start on April 24th with a new start time. They will be at 10 PM instead of 9PM.

Thanks for all that Mary - it helped A LOT!!
We thought when we watched it last night that we'd worked out who the 6 were. Now I am not so sure.....http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t292/smiliegirl2007/favorites60.gif
Hurley, Jack, Kate, Sayid, Sun...........we were thinking Aaron..........! But that doesn't include the person in the coffin - that could be anyone........or no-one from the Island.
This is quite apt me thinx!! http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x88/aleciea/icons/miscellaneous/hellotags/9088def4.jpg

And no one ever really dies, so maybe Jack's dad is Jacob, and since he was on the plane, he could be #6. I don't know, is it just the chocolate ice cream?? :D :D
I am beginning to think that no one dies either, but where do they go? Boone, Shannon, Anna Lucia...oh wait we did see Goodwin's decomposing body or did we? What about the spider bite couple buried alive? Note on them, I believe the girl was an actress. Was that girl's TV show playing on the TV behind Sun before she shut it off?
All I know is I have been so faaaaaaaaaarrr off in the story lines...my coworkers like my theories, but I feel a bit of a nincompoop on the boards for boldly posting my wacked out hypotheses :o
Marmoo, I think I need the chocolate ice cream to freeze my brain to stop the thought processes that conjure up such crazy notions :D

That explains that scene, but it made me think of another question...
Did we ever find out what happened between Kate and Ben when he made her get all dressed up? She appears not so cleaned up when the guys bring her back to the cages. Doesn't she tell Sawyer that nothing happened? I was skeptical when the episode ran but forgot about it until now. Bringing up the Kate thing makes me wonder... I just cannot stop myself.
This is the only TV show I watch besides the office...so I tend to dwell...;)

Where do the dead go? I don't know!! Some hang around, like Charlie and Boone, others seem to disappear forever, like the spider bite couple. But they could still show up!! Nothing is impossible! LOL!! And speaking of spider bite girl, she was an actress. Which episode are you referring to when you ask if her TV show was playing on a TV behind Sun? I must have missed that, among other things!!
Keep posting your whacked out hypotheses, that way I am not alone.:P Here, I'll pass you some chocolate ice cream and we can brain freeze together and figure this crazy show out!!! :D :P
Hmmm, you have me wondering Miss Merle. You are right. Kate got all cleaned up in the shower, had a meal with Ben, and then when she was brought to the cages she might not have been Irish Spring fresh anymore. Will have to watch that episode again!!! Very interesting. I'm so glad you brought it up. But if is turns out that Aaron is Kate and Ben's baby......... well, I guess I would be speechless!! and sick!!!

I am not sure how many episodes are left before the end of the season, but a friend told me that the answers to our questions are going to be answered quickly...yeah, I've heard that before. Friend claims she read in TV Guide the shows are going to move quickly and we will know how the Oceanic 6 got off the island and what happened to the other castaways. She says we will also know who or what is in the coffin (if anything).
If the coffin contains the remains of Sawyer, I am DONE with the show! ;)
See, I am rooting for Sawyer to find it in himself to be the hero I know is inside! If I may be so...extreme...perhaps Sawyer could have a supernatural experience (like a burning bush) and come to grips with his destiny as a hero. Picture it... Sawyer leading the castaways to safety away from Ben's evil empire. Then in true heroic fashion, protect the castaways from the mini-militia on the boat. When I saw their genius on display, shooting clay pigeons with machine guns, I knew their overblown sense of machismo could be their downfall. Sawyer, with brains and brawn (and thanks to Kate the ability to be vulnerable to his emotions), is the most likely castaway to rise to the occasion. After all, he told Kate he was going to do what it took to stay alive and with a conscience, will do his best to save the rest of the castaways. :)
Maybe this is a bit far fetched....

Only if Sawyer takes a bullet for Kate or the baby... or any of the original Oceanic castaways. If he takes one for the team, well maybe. If he dies at the hand of Ben or one of his lackeys () ...there is not enough kleenex in my apartment to mop up the tears I will shed. Not only for the time I wasted watching this crazy show, but for the death of my hero. *sigh* and *swoon*
Sawyer has what it takes to be a hero, he just needs some encouragement from a strong woman to bring it out of him (pick me! pick me!). He also needs an enforcer to challenge him to be a better person and to not fall so quickly for those dimples. She needs to call him out on that smooth-talking, dimple-flashing nonsense and set him straight. ;)

My goodness, it seems that Sawyer showed himself to be quite the hero last nite, putting himself in harms way to save Claire and the baby. I am sure you were on clould nine Miss Merle!!! He surprised me I must admit, but a very pleasant surprise!!! I was so proud of that boy!!! :D :D
Last nites show was quite interesting. I really thought Ben would find a way to save Alex. Interesting to see him actually cry and show emotion. Maybe Ben is somehow capable of actual emotion and care for another person.
And yes Jason, it does seem that Sayid just volunteered to work for Ben, but from the smirk on Ben's face as he walked away, we know he had it planned all along. He is good at manipulating people into making decisions that go his way.
We also found out that the smoke monster is under Ben's control. Still don't know what it actually IS, but we know who runs it now. I think in my mind I had always thought that it was just one of the weird things of the island, but I never considered that Ben controlled it. How silly of me??
Well, 4 episodes to go in this run. Can't wait to see what happens next week. Jack was not looking so good, and I think he is really sick, and I am anxious to see if Ben, Locke and Hurly find Jacob!!

Oh! Me Too!! Finally... and now with Jack sick, Sawyer can really reach his full potential!
I must give a shout out to Sawyer and Hurley who displayed acts heroism that we have not seen for awhile (or at least that I can recall). There was no “what’s in it for me” type “heroics” but the altruism required of a true hero. There is something intrinsic in most people to recognize injustice, even a character like Sawyer. Sawyer’s murders were done in vengeance, not randomly nor for sport. I know I have written at great length about Sawyer’s eye candy factor, but that has been done in good humor...perhaps bad humor. :P However, even though I finally saw the hero in Sawyer emerge, LOST is on probation...
When LOST first started, I quickly became engaged with the survivors of the crash and the mysteries of the island. Last week’s episode has revealed the show’s true colors. It is no longer LOST but the “Ben Linus and Charles Widmore Show” and I do not care about either one of these characters for I cannot root for pure evil when I want to root for good. As I have thought about this show, I cannot figure out what I am watching as it does not make sense. It appears there are two different shows intersecting each other. There has been no clear cut protagonist in the survivors and we should have had one by now.
Am I slipping into the zealot zone when I say, the plane crash survivors are a smoke screen for what the show is really about.
Before I launch into full-fledged conspiracy theory zealotdom, I will watch the next episode where "Locke meets his destiny" (or whatever they said). I want to be wrong about my conspiracy theory...

I'm just tired of all the killing...all of the violence...and all the questions... I still think the castaways are smoke screen...for me, LOST is still on probabation...
Tonights episode? Um, the guy who visits Locke? Ageless? He has not changed a bit. Great eyeliner, by the way. Jack's Dad? And what is with Claire all "what up, Locke" chillin' out with her pappy. So, is Jack's dad dead? Was he given some sort of "soap opera potion" that makes him "appear" to be dead so he can get out of the coffin in the cargo portion of the plane? Perhaps he is the one who caused the plane to go down as he would have been in the cargo hold.
The doctor is alive on the freighter only he was pronounced dead on the last episode, right? How was he alive on the freighter and told about the morse code? Time travel? By whom?
Horace? Bloody nose? Poison gas or too much time travel?
Move the island? Literally? Figuratively?
Why do I still care?

Yes, the guy who visits Locke does seem to be ageless. Visits Locke as a baby and is on the island looking just the same when Ben is a little boy and looks exactly the same on the island right now!! Michael left the island, but seems to have received eternal life, can't kill himself, no one else can kill him. Maybe it is the same for this Richard person. He will never age. Who knows?
I had been convinced that Jack's dad was Jacob. But apparently not. But Claire just sitting there acting like she is high is just weird. Why would she go off and leave her baby????
The doctor is alive on the freighter only he was pronounced dead on the last episode, right? How was he alive on the freighter and told about the morse code? Time travel? By whom?
I think this was another example of the time difference between the island and the ship. We see the dead doctor, and then on the freighter which is behind in time, and we get to see how he ended up washed up on the beach!!
Horace? Bloody nose? Poison gas or too much time travel?
I think we are seeing the "ghost" of Horace and the bloody nose shows us that he was killed in the gas attack by Ben and the Hostiles.
Move the island? Literally? Figuratively?
Now that I can't wait to see. Will it be literally?? It kind of sounds like it to me!!
Why do I still care?
Because you are addicted, just like me, and you don't mind looking at Sawyer every week!! :D ;)

Because you are addicted, just like me, and you don't mind looking at Sawyer every week!! :D ;)
I am addicted!!! LOST was on probation, but I just cannot stop myself from watching it. And not just because of Sawyer...at least most of the time ;) The subplot involving Sawyer has kept my attention due to the possibility of redemption...yeah, yeah...that's it
Good call on Horace. I was confused because the guys affected by the time travel stuff had bloody noses too.
Regarding Sawyer...For all of that attitude and machismo, he is really a big old teddy bear inside... rescuing Claire because it was the right thing to do. Following bleeding Jack because it was the right thing to do. Concern and going to find and help Hurley because it was the right thing to do. When it comes right down to it, Sawyer was the least likely character to care about anyone... will reserve judgment to see how it plays out. I am hoping for the best, but fear they will make him out to be the epitome of “a leopard cannot change its spots”... we’ll see...in TWO weeks! aarrgghh!

Just before my son & I watched Thurs. nite's show last night, I told him I was thinking of quitting. I was really close to quitting...I'm SO TIRED of this show. But NOOO. There I sat...I watched it. I was confused as usual.
I hope they publish a LOST for Dummies book. I can't even "discuss" here, because my mind can't find any one complete thought in the mess to talk about. :D
Wow
That's all I'm gonna say about the finale until it's obvious that more people have seen it, but WOW.
That was my mom's first episode, and she's having me order seasons 1-3 off Amazon now.

You're going to love watching the DVDs. My son & I decided to succomb to the Lost madness after season 2. So, we rented seasons 1 & 2 and watched them in less than a week. So much better than waiting a week between each episode, and you don't have to fast forward through commercials...instant gratification...oops bad choice of words for Lost, but you know what I mean.
The first season is still my favorite. They almost lost me on the 3rd. I liked this season much better, except I'm so not happy that Jin really died (unless he jumped ship, held his breath for a really long time and we find out later).
Okay, so my thoughts on next season are: 1/2 spent on Jack convincing the others that they need to go back to the island, and the other 1/2 actually going back.
My question is: Why did they have to lie to protect those on the island when the island was moved? Would the bad guys be able to find the island?
I guess I should have said : my questions ARE...
What's going on with Ben? He can't stay on the island because he moved it, so why does he care that the 6 need to go back? Do you think that Locke came back to the states because he realized the island needed the 6 back and came for them? I wonder why the island needs the 6...

Thanks for that. Maybe I'll find some of my answers here. I'm almost afraid to check it out...:P

As a friend of mine said, He can't go back to the island according to him. He's not known for his truthiness.

I still haven't seen the finale. :( My Dell with the tv tuner broke down just before it aired. And my old PC won't run iTunes to watch it. I'll hopefully get my Dell back soon and download it from iTunes.
I have been rewatching Season 1 on DVD. It's been interesting to watch, knowing what I do now.
For example, when Jack asks Kate about the toy airplane she gets out of the marshal's Haliburton, she says, "It belonged to the man I loved. It belonged to the man I loved ..." and then finally, in tears, "It belonged to the man I killed." Both are, in a way, true, but not as we first thought. The toy airplane belonged to her childhood boyfriend who ended up dying when he and Kate were fleeing police. So, in Kate's eyes, she killed him, although that's not why the police are after her.

I just finished my dissertation on the finale and happened to scroll farther than I meant to when returning to the message box and saw a recent posting... Good thing. Coincidence or providence? I will take it as providence...
Jason, I will reserve my commentary until you have watched the finale! I said too much (as usual) and I do not want to spill the beans on any part of the story line.
The finale was really good... Let us know when you have watched it.
Talking about the old stuff...
We know the smoke thingamabopper is controlled by Ben. So now we know, Ben killed Echo. My theory is Ben cannot have a man of the cloth on his island and then build a church. Religion would be a threat to Ben for Ben controls everything on the island. (Note: I am using religion as an all encompassing word to cover all as we have not been privy to any of the castaways spirituality only Echo's Catholicism) Religion would be a voice of freedom and Ben cannot have people thinking for themselves...Ben thinks he is god. And not only that his Machiavellian disposition is contradictory to religious beliefs. His means justify his ends and there is no voice of opposition. One voice that may have been one of opposition would be found in a church... Perhaps I have over analyzed this crazy show... I cannot help it...my brain is wired to question and examine evidence to formulate conclusions ...

Desmond lives!!!! What about Sawyer & Juliette? Any theories there?
Did anyone else tear up or cry (like me) when Penny and Des finally were able to embrace. I am so sentimental at times.... Please not Sawyer and Juliette. :(
So glad Desmond is alive, and not only that, reunited with Penny!!! As far as the rest, I am still trying to absorb everything. Will have to watch it again. Locke in the casket. Wow, so how did he get off the island? So, does anyone know when the next season will start. I will be dying to see what happens next!!
Who else jumped out of their chair when you heard "Jack"? My heart stopped, I think, for just a second. I thought it was coming from the casket! And then when the camera was moving in over the lid, was anyone else straining to see beyond the edge of the camera, like me? I am such a knucklehead when I watch this show!
Locke in the casket was a shock...but I am just relieved it was not Sawyer. Sawyer is turning out to be quite the hero. :) And I must say, "Um...Jack, you did not save Kate, Sawyer did." When Sawyer jumped out of the helicopter he was believing the chopper was heading back to the freighter.
Sawyer kissing Kate goodbye was important, because now we know he jumped to save her and we know he loves her enough to let her go. But my stomach turns at the thought of Sawyer and Juliette. Ugh!
Okay...now about the big wheel...as if! Again, Ben thinks he is god. (BTW so does Jack...Kate can do better...) Good riddance for Ben to go. But we know from Claire, things get bad on the island. So, things are going to get bad. Well, hopefully, the castaways will seek answers and remember the church Echo and Charlie were building.
Here is my new hope...Sawyer finishes the church because he needs something to do and finds God in the process because God, as per Third Day, will "meet us wherever we are" ...too far fetched? Yeah, for network TV that would be inconceivable. Because God is the last thing television companies want us to find.
Too much Sawyer? I cannot help it. I am rooting for a hero and he seems to be the only one besides Des and Jin to even attempt to help others. Then there is Sun. Is she working for Ben or Penny's dad? Or maybe she is out for herself to non-violently avenge her husband's death...or I hope, presumed death. Maybe that squirrely guy...um...Daniel? will find him for he is out there with that little boat.
I have heard the new season does not start until January. Does anyone know if this is true?

I too cried when Des and Penny FINALLY were reunited. Hadn't heard when the new season starts, just that it should be the last one. I couldn't tape the show (poor reception) so I have forgotten a lot of it. I do remember Sayid and Nadia which was sweet. I HOPE Sawyer and Juliette DON'T get together but that's what I'm afraid will happen.

Who else jumped out of their chair when you heard "Jack"?
Refresh my memory dear. I am not sure what you are referring to.
Saywer is turning out to be a very different person isn't he!!
Sawyer kissing Kate goodbye was important, because now we know he jumped to save her and we know he loves her enough to let her go. But my stomach turns at the thought of Sawyer and Juliette. Ugh!
I think Sawyer does love Kate, and sacrificed himself for her!! Ditto again!!! Makes my stomach turn too!!!
I don't think Ben is gone. When has he ever told the truth!! But even if he can't go back to the island, he is still running around in the real world manipulating people!!
Too much Sawyer? I cannot help it. I am rooting for a hero and he seems to be the only one besides Des and Jin to even attempt to help others. Then there is Sun. Sawyer, Des and Jin rock!!! I think Sun is on her own, though getting help from Mr. Widmore, since she knows he is Ben's enemy. But we shall see, I am NEVER right!! LOL!! I had not even considered that Daniel might find Jin!! That would be great. But if the island moved, I would think that those in the boat won't be able to find it. I had already had the question cross my mind, "what in the world happened to Daniel and the survivors in the boat who were on the way to the freightor??" Guess we will have to wait and see.
I have heard the new season does not start until January. Does anyone know if this is true?

Oh...when Jack hears his name as he is opening the casket. Turns out to be Ben, but when I heard "Jack" I thought it was coming from the casket.
Regarding Sawyer, things are never as they appear.
Ben...All I can say is: Does anyone smell smoke? Ben, your pants! They're on fire! Ben must be stopped. So does Mr. Widmore. Good must prevail!
With the island disappearing...what am I saying? HOW CAN AN ISLAND DISAPPEAR BY TURNING A BIG WHEEL?????? Sorry, I am shouting in my head, not at y'all.

I cried like I did when I watched the Notebook and We Are Marshall...well not as much as I did when I saw We Are Marshall....BTW Matthew Fox is in We Are Marshall...watch it with a box of kleenex
Sayid and Nadia...tears, so sweet.
I want all the castaways to have happy endings. Jack in AA finding God and hooked up with Juliette, they have the doctor thing in common. Sawyer and Kate, they have the murder/criminal history thing in common. Jin and Sun, they are just so cute together. Sayid and Nadia together, make Ben turn the big wheel and make it all right again. Charlie and Claire. Boone and lets hook him up with the blonde girl who funded Desmonds boat and was shot by Michael....okay...I'll stop with the chick flick ending to LOST.
